Hello All!

So who's memory is the accurate one?? I guess it's up to our beliefs to decide! Fun episode. I felt for the brother that was cursed by the Chupacabra - he was doing awful things but it didn't appear to be intentional!

Much love

I think we were all waiting for you to see this episode, not because it is any good, it's a bit of a Dud in fairness, but we wanted to see your reaction to a young Raymond Cruz, the totally Psychotic drug dealer Tuco from the Salamanca Cartel Family in Breaking Bad. Yes Vince Gilligan did a total trawl of X-Files actors to create his main characters from Breaking Bad. Anyway a really dismal episode, up there with Jersey Devil, 3, Space and Teso Dos Bichos for me. What really bugged me about this one too, was the awful Score, this kind of attempt at Mexican music playing in the background throughout. Anyway back to form with the next episode, very much a favourite of mine.

This gives a great visual to the concept of the unreliable witness. There have been a number of psychological studies done on eyewitness testimony and it's reliability. Police, especially, run into these situations when they question witnesses, only to get conflicting accounts of the same event. Migrant workers have always been an "invisible" group. Nobody really wants to see them. They have no status under the law, so they won't go to police, some won't even go to doctors or hospitals for fear of being deported.

"..some of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our point of view." Best way to sum up this episode.

Illegal "alien" a term used in the US to describe migrants. IMO, the term is derogatory, as no human is illegal or an alien. They are undocumented. That's what Scully meant when she said the aliens were the victims in this case. So this was a bit of a political episode about undocumented people in the US. Hence, Scully's and Mulder's last lines, "They have a way of being almost invisible" and "The truth is, nobody cares," implying that "we" as a country couldn't care less. The story is really about how undocumented people are treated: unseen, unprotected, and blamed for their own vulnerability. Yes, "Lozano" was in FTWD, and "Eladio" was Tuco in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

If their medical conditions were publicised, drug cartels would've had a field day. They would have used Elario and his brother to grow supercharged shrooms of all sorts XD

PongPong31

True. But I also think Dak had it right as well. I also saw it as a bit of Scully banter, "Give the little green guys a break, they aren't the bad guys all the time, Mulder"

Good reaction! Thanks.
