I remember being at a convention way back in the early 2000’s and there was a fella there cosplaying as Spike and he got the make up done on stage. It did look very impressive. When it comes to practical vs CGI effects, especially at the time of Buffys run, the practical effects always look better. The CGI in the early 2000s was really bad.

Never seen this BTS footage before and it's so much fun to watch this kind of thing in a reaction! It really is amazing the amount of effort that went into prosthetic make-up - I feel like it's still ok to have a laugh when it doesn't quite land, though, especially when it's done out of love for the show! I love the terrible werewolf costume :'D

Christopher simeon

Love your picks. I agree with all your favorite moments. Season 3 has some of my favorite moments from the show so looking forward to it.

Ed Green

Technically, since it's Angel who was under the curse, it would be a case of Angel's magical penis rather than Buffy's magical vagina...I'll show myself out.

I loved this! I haven't watched the dvd extras in over a decade, so this gave me lots of nostalgia. They're all really interesting for future seasons too, so I think it's a great little extra thing to continue with at the end of a season, sort of like the Supernatural bloopers.

Bart Aansorgh

I actually remember this BTS footage vaguely. That must have been a while ago lol. I'm glad you liked S2. I do agree that S1 felt like the show finding its footing. S2 really had a solid line going through it with a lot of development for the characters. Willos ofcourse must be protected. I'm on the same booat regarding the ships as you are it seems :). We'll find out how everything continues. And yes that comming out scene was intended to be viewed that way as well. They got a lot of positive feedback and/or critical acclaim for that one as I remember. :)

I have the Chosen Collection 7 seasons DVD set but I haven’t watched the extras DVDs for years.

BTVS aired at 8PM on a small network and was not available in every part of the USA. I was moving a lot at that time and was afraid I would be in a part of the country where I couldn’t see it.

Jim Greer

Loved hearing your thoughts & predictions . I would give S2 an 8 rating . Strap yourself in because S3 will knock your socks off .

I always like your reviews and discussions, and this little BTS reaction was fun, too! That layered painting of the skin tones for prostethics was really interesting. For the beauty make-up part, I agree with you the natural-looking Buffy of the first season was more to my taste. I think we probably would have got a very different look to the snake-boy/god if it had been done digitally. The down side is that we probably would have lost the vampire look that you find quite effective in the process. And I disagree that digital FX look better; it always depends on the special effects team with how much time and money they have. Now with digital, they do it as an after thoughts way too often and it shows.

Ceara Abrahamsz

Glad you reacted to this! It was definitely off-putting, personally every time, seeing you laugh at the prosthetics and creatures, just knowing how much work and time goes into it. But I understand! It is dated!

Dave Ford

A lot of people suggest it wasn't the actual physical act of sex, let alone the climax, that broke Angel's curse in Innocence, but more to do with happiness and contentment that he felt in the afterglow and being in the arms of his true-love that caused this. I must say, your take on it being because of Buffy's magic vjj is refreshingly different.
