I remember watching these movies with my girlfriend at the time and I had recognized Jamie Dornan from a role he played in an outstanding BBC/Northern Ireland show called The Fall. I had brought it up to her (I gave her fair warning the actor played a serial rapist and killer, but she still wanted to watch it). I remember after we finished the show her telling me that it’s stunning how Dornan could be a million times hotter in the show playing the character he is playing compared to the 50 Shades movies. When she heard that allegedly Dakota Johnson and Dornan did not like each other and both did not like the scripts she realized what happens when you have actors that are just not on the same wavelength and don’t have the scripts to help them out. Then again this series was made as a fanfic of Twilight, so yeah

The key is, dont think of them as romance movies! You have to think of it as a B grade attempt at combining Comedy and Psychological Horror!! I have genuinely recommended to watch the first one to my film student friends, but told them to watch it with a side speaker running a Playlist of suspense and comic relief BGM 😀

OMG that whole dialogue where Ana was giving that whole schpiel to who I'm guessing is her new secretary is such a blatant ripoff of Working Girl (1980s movie with Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, and Sigourney Weaver) - it's practically a near identical situation and the dialogue is practically word for word.

Honest too god, I worked at a cinema when the first and second of these came out and I had too quit due to the fact of that I found, not ONCE, not TWICE, cucumbers with a condom wrapper around them, several wet seats and condoms in the trash in the BATHROOM. I'll never know if that's for real or if they were fucking with me over a sick joke. Great reaction and thanks for the weird memories xD
