Surprised OW

Thanks for reacting to this hidden gem

This might be the only show I can think of that could only be done in anime (and manga) because of the ending. Such a great show!

Yagi di Hoshi

i still think of this ending, sometimes

The "Into the Woods" film actually includes some additional minutes for this ending scene. And yes, it does actually show (partially during the credits) how this encounter ends. It also offers a slightly more extensive epilogue to the show. Definitely recommend watching at least the last ~10 minutes for everyone who hasn't yet seen it and liked Odd Taxi.

spoilers.... At the end when he is sitting in the hospital and remembers who he actually gave a ride to before the murder he says "I should tell the cops" so later when you see the girl walking down the street I'm thinking so when are the cops picking her up? did he forget to tell the cops? Also I love not only that everyone is human but how the art quality ramps up drastically. It's like final season Wano quality.

I dont think you got the Boss wrong, im pretty sure he's just a huge public figure (some kind of performer) who has a Yakuza friend, even from their talk over the phone i would assume its a risk for them to talk so it would not hurt his image.

The baboon is a famous traditional rakugo comedian. He was supposed to judge the comedy duo competition. He is an old friend of the tapir. Tapir is still the boss of the gang.

This has to be one of my favourite if not my favourite show. It’s so cleverly written, humorous, quirky, well paced both in terms of story and the rhythm of the dialogue. It is very dialogue heavy but not afraid to leave silent lingers on certain things in a cinematic way… it’s just simply brilliant. No other words

There are a ton of small hints to the twist all throughout the show that only become clear on a second viewing so it was really fun to have that second viewing in the form of these reactions so thanks for reacting to it :)

Don't know if yall noticed but the pen Sakura Wadagaki has on her hand during the ending scene can be seen throughout the anime. Episodes 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12 and 13 all have the pen hidden in the episode. Don't know the implications of the pen but the zoom in on the pen in the last scene makes it seem like it's relevant to the plot.

Demise was WRONG. Ant was paying attention 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

The pen is a recording device, and you can actually go to a third party website to hear the recordings is takes.

Fun Fact You can actually see the cat at the very beginning of the OP

6CatsInAnAlley

If you rewatch the opening you can see the cat in his closet

Alicia in the film odd taxi: into the woods there is actually a little extended ending and it shows what exactly happens later if you're curiouse just watch from when the anime ends then it's fev more seconds of animation and how things are going for them later

Odd Taxi is one of those absolute hidden gems that so few people talk about and feels so unassuming but gODS it's so fucking incredible. The writing is so solid and snappy and it takes you on such a journey that just leaves you so stunned by it's ending. I'm glad you both saw it through and enjoyed it to such a degree!!

Dhaval Kale

I'm glad the twist hit good! (I think I figured it out after ep 3 lmao)

Turd Burgle Magelby

I just checked out the extra stuff at the end of the into the woods, it's worth checking out for sure

Adrian

Wait a minute. If he sees everyone as anthropomorphic animals. Than does all corn he watches become furry corn

I think the confusion over the boss came from the character's name. The Tapir IS the yakuza boss, the girl was the daughter of his childhood friend Donraku, the older baboon. Or, as the Tapir called him, "Don-chan" for short. There was no "Don" of the organization because that's an italian expression, and these guys are yakuza, not mafia. Also, I'm a few days late so idk if people earlier in the comments already mentioned it, but there's an animated movie that summarizes the events of the series through some people interviewing a bunch of the characters, that offers a *little* more insight into what people were thinking, and resolves the cliffhanger at the end. There's also a live-action spinoff called "RoOT/Route of Odd Taxi" about a second group of people investigating the disappearance at the same time, but without the animal-people filter.

AuxOx

yes, of course. Just like how anime in anime is just anime and not live action.

AuxOx

there is legit not a single conversation or scene in this show that doesnt accomplish or hint to something which is crazy when you have so many different characters with funny little stupid side plots.
