ichigo

Lol, she thinks Garp would protect her from the CD's. That's cute.

Ranginald Vagel

Idk how long she’s had it but I just noticed Alicia’s drop shadow, that’s really nice.

Robert Collard

RIP TBone. One of the truly good Marines who put his life on the line line for the people.

DDayJayke

Hina my beloved!

Azzazz1n97

that is Buggy D Clown for you

leviathan_13

I can't believe how Crocodile and m.f. Mihawk next to Buggy look like two little whiny bitches... XD one is like "we need power and money, weh weh" and the other is like "we can't fight the other emperors, they are scary...". OMG shut up losers, Buggy is the only true pirate there with some backbone. I was genuinely converted to the Buggy cult, I'm rooting for Buggy the pirate king!!! At this point, it is written in the stars that, sure, Luffy might find the One Piece, but it will be Buggy who will be known as the next pirate king! (by accident, of course XD) Also loved the reveal of the reason why he fell out with Shanks. That completely changed our understanding of the two.

Mirazatha

as i remember the specifics of this section, i think alicia might be in trouble. its a bit of an overload for someone used to pre wano one piece

Zarathos Daimaoh

I mean they were never shown to have grandiose dreams and goals. At least not on screen so far. Crocodile just wanted to steal his own corner and to strengthen it... basically he wanted what Doflamingo had. And Mihawk likely only care about the sword and hunting. That scene completely fits with their M.Os. Hell there is an easy and obvious proof... if they had bigger ambitions, they would never accept a figurehead like Buggy, nor any figurehead. Even as a decoy and misdirect

thedangmaster

I mean.... buggy being trapped by those two is bad for him and all but in the end... they also trapped with him. He somehow moves two giants in his direction even when taking a literal beating. He is 10x better at leading than crocodile is i say

leviathan_13

@Zarathos: No, at the very least, Crocodile's dream was to become the king of pirates. It was shown in a cover story, it's just that he probably gave up on that after losing to Whitebeard. If you re-read what he says to Luffy the first time he "kills" him at Alabast, it perfectly applies to him. He kind of admitted at Impel Down to be just another "silver medalist" so his Utopia plan is just his copium. He is more similar to Moria in that regard, IMO.

Vinne

He literally can't do anything sadly

Vinne

This section of egghead doesnt have hype moments and aura its mostly just lore with minimal fights that people hate

Egregore

Pretty much every great pirate Luffy fought in the first half of the grand line was a has-been who couldn’t make it in the New World and never stopped coping about it.

Zarathos Daimaoh

Yeah i like Crocodile a lot, but he lacks warmth and does not micro manage talents, which is detrimental here as a big leader. Bro is the one guy that both said "no matter the fruit, training is what matters, I'm not one of those fools that just rely on DF powers" and to Mr3 " Finally someone found a use for his useless power". Turns out Mr 3 can be very useful and deadly when used properly

Sam Marsh

Always failing upwards, Buggy truly is the Donald Trump of the One Piece world.

Egregore

Did she forget how he let Ace die right in front of him just because the WG ordered his execution?

Zarathos Daimaoh

like i said , they weren't shown to be better and dream bigger on screen. And yes even when you learn about their past like that cover story, at no point did they show an inkling that such a dream was reignited at any point. Yet. My point is that it's not any betrayal of the way they've been portrayed all along. They aren't "losers" in that scene, they've been for a long while

NickAsNickName

honestly it's a shame that it's so easy to forget that the guy with the beak-mask has a speaker in the thing. makes his voice sound really cool too

Egregore

I forgot just how much marine copaganda Toei did in early egghead. The scene where we saw T-bone saving civilians before getting stabbed straight up didn’t happen in the manga and the reaction where the retired marines with cushy advisory positions complained in their cafeteria about how starving and desperate civilians were taking bounties from Cross Guild wasn’t nearly as solemn or introspective as the anime makes it out to be.

Egregore

Alicia, please my neurodivergent ass can’t take it anymore, you’ve been mixing up attain(to get) with ascertain(to find out) FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS! I was hoping someone else would mention it on stream but every time you say “to ascertain power” I feel like I’m growing closer to insanity.

GoldArthur

He would. He would just do it in a way that he could plead ignorance afterwards. Similar to Fujitora bringing down the meteor. Like "Oh you said 'capture the princess'? I thought you said 'Bring the princess down to the port'. My bad"

Narluga

ALL HAIL THE PIRATE KING BUGGY!

Cole Savoie

whats kinda sad is Buggy looked up to Shanks soo much that when he didnt try to get the One Piece it broke Buggy's dreams as well. In a world where having dreams makes you stronger Shanks accidentally doomed Buggy to be a jobber pirate in East Blue

Mickash

Bit of a stretch to call that marine copaganda I think, considering the marine in question. T-bone has always been characterized as a pretty good dude, I mean his motto is literally "Do 100 good deeds every day." He's the exact type of marine that would be helping civilians. And the cafeteria scene is just a straight-up improvement imo, when even the old-guard marines benefitting from the status quo can be like "yeah I get it," while continuing to complain regardless. It makes those characters, and their continued, willful, participation in the system, a bit more interesting.

Hugh Mungus

This is basically the beginnings of endgame One Piece. Oda isn't fucking around anymore, all the secrets are coming out.

Julio Castillo

You know what i really love about that whole Buggy section? It once again completely recontextualizes the understanding we had about him and Shanks... From his dialogue with Crocodile and Mihawk... and from the small flashback to right after Roger's execution.... we can now understand what Buggy's dream was and why he became bitter and resentful..... Buggy's dream was Shanks.... he saw in Shanks someone who could follow on Roger's footsteps and become King of the Pirates, he was happy just to be there for him and help him conquer the sea, but Shanks... for some reason we still don't understand... decided to not go after the One Piece inmidiately.... which broke Buggy's heart, cuz that's not what a true Pirate should be (in his eyes). But now that he's come this far... without even wanted it, after enduring the torture from Crocodile and Mihawk... and after learning that just now.... Shanks is making a move to go after the One Piece..... he's had enough, he decided he's gonna take his fate into his own hands.... and claim the dream he had once wanted Shanks to achieve..... Buggy is gonna aim for the Top, to find the One Piece... and become King of the Pirates. And to be honest..... im kinda rooting for him now (even if i know Luffy is gonna be the one winning this race for the One Piece). And perhaps im on the minority by saying this..... but i believe that... in this moment... Buggy is living up to Roger's spirit as a True Pirate more strongly than even Shanks. If Roger was alive now.... i believe he would've been very proud of him.

Vendacator

This is gonna get so much cooler

Egregore

Just changing a character’s emotional reaction to one event and nothing else isn’t how you make them more interesting; especially when the whole point of the marines is that they’re all hypocrites who would rather work under an oligarchy of genocidal slavers than overthrow the status quo.

Orireth

this series is going to end with buggy as king of the pirates

Austin Jenkins

its crazy how there are like 10 different story plots going on at the same time

Adam Burrows

I want to point out, Admiral Fujitora has one of the Twelve

Delton

Honestly I would both hate that alot, but also be fine with that in a dum way. I would rather it end with Luffy becoming the pirate king. Not like that matters too much as in the end he just wanted the journey. Still want to see him fulfill his dream.

UndeaditeJesse

Haven't finished yet, but knowing what happens in the second episode, its hilarious how much old One Piece trained Alicia to not get that good shit immediately. At least now we are kept on our toes as to whether we stick to plots or not, lol

Olympus Games

Luffy as King of the Pirates, Buggy as King of the World. Everyone's happy lol

Yovan_Night (Purple Rain🟪)

Fax. But Blackbeard is gonna win the race for the one piece sadly. But I really feel what you said about Buggy here. I’ve never respected him more, even with so many people clowning on him.

Unsaidrumble

I wouldn't be surprised if buggy finds the one piece before anyone else

Eric

Yeah, the thing is that I think that they will not let Garp into marinejois cause the first time he sees a celestial dragon bossing him arround he would go "huh?, who's the ugly dwarf over there calling me out n shit?", then the celestial dragon would get mad and order for Garp execution but... heh, who has the balls to do that you know? XD

Goobert

Yeah that's an L take and an extreme oversimplification of Oda's writing of the Marines. Oda has always showcased that there's a lot of good people in the Navy, and a lot of people who are unsatisfied with the current system, however due to the fact that the celestial dragons wield so much power, and have for centuries, its impossible to just turn the system on its head and make everything better. Thats why people like Garp are essential, those who make better people into marines and guide the future generations towards improving the Navy into what it should be. Change cannot come rapidly, its why Dragon despite working his entire life as a revolutionary hasn't done almost anything of significance, but Sabo might be able to. To say that the whole point of the marines is that they're just hypocrites for not attempting to overthrow a system thats been heavily rooted in society for 800 years is one of the worst misunderstandings of the writing you can get to.

Goobert

Out of all the roasts i've heard from the one piece fandom i don't think i've ever been personally offended as much as hearing my man Buggy compared to Donald, holy shit

Hyo

It's funny that you said "I don't think he's coming back the same man he left" because I'm pretty sure this is the first time his new voice actor took over lol

Sam Marsh

Don’t get me wrong, I like Buggy a helluva lot more then Dumpy Trumpy, I’m just pointing out that they both have a tendency to rise in status despite their incompetence.

Jyxxe

Vice Admiral T-Bone was emphasised because like Garp and Koby, he was one of the Navy soldiers who was truly, to his core, a good person. He did what he thought was right, and he joined the Navy because it's where he thought he could do the most good. Even in his death, he was running to help a child who he thought was hurt or sick, only to be stabbed in the back by a desperate, poor, starving man. In the past, before the Cross Guild, those same desperate, poor, starving people would have fallen over themselves to ensure that they were under the jurisdiction of someone like T-Bone. They'd be genuinely grateful every day to the Navy who has such kind, compassionate men to oversee them. But after the Cross Guild was established, to the poor and desperate, the quality of a Navy soldier's character no longer mattered - the only thing that did was the number of stars on their bounty posters, along with the quiet, fearful gratitude toward the Cross Guild for keeping their families alive.

Zee Grog

what always comes to mind is buggy was Rodger crew he fought days on end with white beard crew just like shakes he didnt pass out at haki clashes he was strong. but as stated haki is tied to people will and at that point his crumbled but he is now reclaiming his will. what will become of him now

Egregore

Pay attention to what the marines are actually doing. Locking up pirates doesn’t solve systemic injustice. The only time any Marine tangibly changes the status quo for the better is when they willingly act against orders/established protocol and bear the consequences themselves. Also, get out of here with your “change cannot come rapidly” bs. Bringing about rapid and lasting change for the better is literally what the Strawhats do every single arc. Not to mention how WE LITERALLY JUST SAW THE RA FREE HUNDREDS OF SLAVES FROM MARIJOIS IN A SINGLE DAY! Trying to change the system from within is exactly how the marines unwittingly prevent rapid change from happening; because the only way for them to stay within the system is by following its rules, which is how you end up with people like Kuzan participating in a buster call (which he probably would have followed through on if Saul hadn’t defected and risked his life to defend Robin) or Fugitora working to protect Doflamingo from the people trying to end his oppressive rule (which he righted by explicitly disobeying his superiors and publicly apologizing on behalf of the marines).

Egregore

Remember that the reason those people were starving in the first place is due to them having to pay the heavenly tribute; which is primarily collected and enforced by the marines.

Egregore

Nah, Buggy is gonna be the pirate god; just like he said he would be when he first heard Luffy declare that he will be the king of the pirates!

Gurth-Quake

"They just continued the scene! When the fuck have they ever done that?!" They've been doing it all throughout egghead and you're surprised every time...

Goobert

Lol, no. What the marines are actually doing? Locking up pirates? Y'mean what they're MEANT to do? Uphold the law and lock up looters, raiders and killers lol? Marines aren't meant to solve sysemtic injustice they're a lawkeeping and military organization. When exactly has a marine going against orders changed anything for the better? Smoker tried and he failed, Luffy had to take out Crocodile and Caesar, the only thing he managed was to rescue children from PH and i wouldn't call that 'changing the status quo', he just stood aside. Aokiji did nothing to stop the Buster Call, only letting Saul and Robin escape to soothe his conscience, and after he fought Akainu he got kicked out and is now actively helping the worst Emperor there is, whether with ulterior motives or not. Fujitora apologized on the behalf of the marines and pushed the for the abolition of the Warlord system, the apology did nothing of significance and guess what, the Warlords were replaced with the Seraphim, an objectively worse alternative. Hardly a great example of the status quo changing. The Revolutionaries freed the slaves, but they didn't eliminate slavery, hundreds of slaves have been freed before, by Fisher Tiger, by Shiki, and nothing changed by doing that. Its a temporary soothing of a tumor. And the Straw Hats do the same, Luffy beats the main bad guy in every arc but the actual change has to be brought about by the people. In Alabasta, in Skypiea, in Fishman Island, in Dressrosa, the Straw Hats just get rid of the immediate threat, but none of these nations had their issues at large permanently solved. This is especially evident in Fishman Island and Dressrosa, where the problems of slavery, discrimination and poverty are not eliminated at all, Luffy is there to give hope to people so that they may better their future themselves. If you genuinely believe that everything changed for the better just because Luffy beat the main bad guy into a pulp in every arc you've been severely misunderstanding the plot this whole time, and the same is the case with the marines. True change takes time, it is not, has never been, and will never be rapid. The system has to be changed from within and from without, otherwise doing only one is pointless.

Goobert

This is a whole ass baseless assumption, this country might not have even been a member, bro is just on a warpath for the marines in the comments

Goobert

Oh yea definitely, if Luffy wasn't here i'd 100% back Buggy as the ONLY real competitor who deserves to be King of the Pirates, cuz hes the only one truly chasing that dream and embodying a true pirate

Julio Castillo

Well… Buggy embodies a true Pirate… but in One Piece Standards. But if we go by real life standards… then Teach is the truest Pirate of all, which is also why i love him… he’s a real-life pirate in a world of idealized pirates.

Egregore

The marines don’t protect non-members of the WG. In that case T-bone would’ve been there as part of an invasion force.

Egregore

The Marines’ job objectively isn’t to lock up looters, raiders, or killers. If that was the case then their first target would be the CDs. The marines lock up PIRATES, which in the world of OP is anyone who rejects the authoritarian rule of the World Government, regardless of morality. It’s like saying that the U.S. military were the good guys in Afghanistan because their job was to kill the terrorists. But you are right, after Luffy overthrows the local government any permanent change is always brought by the people; and they always do it literally the same day through civil disobedience and rejecting their oppressors. Literally all positive change we see in One Piece is the result of the people violently overthrowing their previous rulers and installing a new government, usually in a matter of weeks. No one was there convincing Doffy to stop turning people into toys, or petitioning Orochimaru to send food relief to the villages.

Sage of All knowing

16:24 Alicia belive it or not, Buggy gonna be king of pirates one day. BUggy for piriate king lets goooooooo

Cvillain626

TreeDouche: Fujitora stop, Celestial Dragons and their city will get hurt Fujitora: bet

Denaze

The first half of Egghead was the most hyped, best paced part of One Piece ever. I really thought they would take that 6 months break to keep doing this. Just to see dressrosa pace after the break...

Noodle

"Fujitora what the hell are you doing?" "I will tear down the heavens and rain hell upon them..."

Beolith

To the person in chat with the Dan Avidan emote, noice.
