I hope I'm wrong but that scene with Makino's baby looking at Luffy's picture is giving me a sinking feeling Luffy is the father. Luffy was 17 when he set out to sea and its been less than 3 years. The timeline makes it a plausible possibility. Not to mention no other prominent male character that goes to Goa Kingdom either has been there in that time frame or would likely sleep with Makino. I have no idea how or why Luffy and Makino would sleep together but the scene clearly shows Makino's baby is attracted to Luffy even though he's never met Luffy in person.

Bro.... He's been out to sea for 2 years & thanks to the cover stories we know the baby is no less than a few months old because this is the first time it's ever shown. Makino see's Luffy somewhat as her kid so it's only natural her own kid would view Luffy as a big brother. The most plausible father is either Shanks or a random man on the island, but there's physically no way for it to be Luffy,

What ? That makes no sense whatsoever with Luffy's personality, the timeline and well everything else. Makino would have to be even stronger than Portgas D Rouge to pull that off. The scene was clearly to show that Luffy got such a positive energy, that even that unknown baby kinda likes him from a picture. And/or to set him up as a Shanks like figure for the next generations

The new voice actor for Franky is Subaru Kimura, probably most recognisable from Jujutsu Kaisen, where he voiced Aoi Todo. Franky's old voice actor, Kazuki Yao, was involved in directly choosing Subaru to replace him.

Honestly the switch should have happened earlier, you could hear that Goated Yao had health issues with Franky's dialogues for a while. The change would be jarring no matter what, but it's better than Yao straining himself further, and Franky having slurred speech

One Piece showed multiple times in very remarkable ways that blood ties are not defining father figures and parrallels between older and younger characters. Even if this kid would actually grow to like luffy there is absolutely NO WAY that luffy is his father, on top of that Luffy being a father so young is weird for Luffy AND for the one piece universe, there is no father that young, would be very weird especially given who makino is to Luffy she's almost a mother figure to him it makes it weirder and weirder each times you dig in that theory of yours lol. Makino just had her own story in the backgrounds like many other characters. Maybe if you said he could be Shanks son ok but luffy... sorry but no. My thought at that moment was maybe they were setting up a character that would grow up to be inspired by future pirate king luffy, maybe in some kind of One Piece shippuden since we're "supposed" to approach the end of the manga, but oda said he won't write a sequel after onoe piece is over so maybe a sequel without Oda's writing or just a character for the one piece "years later" ending scene.

I dunno, i don't see why her baby has to be from someone important. Don't get me wrong, maybe it will be a plot point someday, but so far i don't see it. All snippets of her we've seen, besides her reaction to Luffy's fame, show that she just lived her own life offscreen. And while possible, we haven't seen Shanks back to the Island, but literlly going everywhere else instead

53:18 This is the first time i'm hearing Subaru Kimura as Franky, but knowing the manic range his voice can reach from seeing another character he played... it's very jarring that he went with this deep voice instead of the energetic high pitch tone he did for that other character.

Not enough people mention this imo, but it is crazy to me that we got a global earthquake and a rising of sea levels right after Lulusia got atomized. Its curious that they mention the hole 'shows no signs of filling', and yet water levels rise. Big momma Sea is pissed off at Imus bullshit

Yeah, pretty much every time Alicia has complained about his character post-Whole Cake, it's been because of Toei rather than the way Oda wrote him. It was also bad when they changed the dialogue in Wano (when Zoro is coming out of the wrappings, Marco is supposed to say "here come the stars", as in plural, before we have the dual shot of Zoro and Sanji, whereas the anime only focuses on Zoro, and the subtitles say "here comes the star").

On one hand, I understand Garp's choice - Koby IS strong enough that he has the potential to be more instrumental to the Navy's military force than Garp currently is, especially after getting injured so badly. On the other hand, there's a very real timeline where didn't need to be a choice at all if Garp had never gotten injured because Koby fell for an obvious trick. I feel like there's an implication that Garp knew all along that he was going to sacrifice himself for Koby on this mission. It's fitting, because ultimately it means that Garp is the same as Koby, choosing to send off both 'the old man' and 'the baby,' while he, 'the soldier,' chooses to stay behind. Because no matter how much he identifies as the old man being left behind for the greater good, in that lesson, the Marine is both the rescuer and the one who ultimately makes the final decision about who stays and who goes - and at the Beehive, Garp embraced both of those roles fully.

How was it an obvious trick? We knew there were people on the island being held captive all over and its very easy to assume one person might've gotten seperated in all the chaos. Sure, you could suspect, but whether or not Koby suspected he would've HAD to make sure, hence falling for the trap regardless.

For those who weren't watching the eps as they came out 1122 is the last episode before a 6 month hiatus for the show. So we got THAT as an ending and had to wait 6 months. Kuzan's whole face freezing, showing him getting cold and hiding his feelings is just so good.

Never heard Franky's new VA before this. I'd already switched fully to dub in early Wano. I watched the sub till that point and was watching the series again in dub and finally decided to drop the sub and go full dub. I wanted to experience the new stuff in the show without having to read all the time and with it being done by Funimation I knew the English voice actors were good. Though it also means I haven't been able to watch them weekly but I do get a bunch to binge on when they do release the dubs.

He was a hero from an entirely different ordeal, where he TEAMED with Blackbeard to defeat an entirely different Pirate. Him giving himself up was mentioned in a prior episode. It is technically a recap because we know he got taken by Blackbeard, we just didn't see it actually happen. And even then, they didn't even call him a hero for offering himself to Blackbeard in exchange for the other Marines to be released. They were just like "Damn, Koby got snatched"
