I love this show, and I honestly would not have checked it out if not for seeing Alicia post it here. I am glad I did tho, cuz it's fantastic. I binged all the episodes immediately after starting.

I think it's moreso idolization or adoration. Like, you could definitely read romantic love into her reaction, because Kaoru is definitely not "just a friend" to her. But I think it's something slightly more unhealthy than just "love" or "friendship" with how violently she reacts to Kaoru just being near boys/Chidori students.

While this is not my fav romance show, its in the top 5 atleast so far. Extremely Subtle Spoilers up ahead (really just confirming a character's sexuality). On a side note, her silver haired best friend is not actually a lesbian, she just really cares about her hero and is an amazing friend. Im not sure if they will cover the reason why I know she isn't a lesbian in season 1, but it will happen later down the road even if it has to happen in season 2. It would be amazing if she was Rep for the LGBT+ community, but sadly she is not. She is just REALLY not good around guys right now. She very well may be Bi, but so far in the story that is not what has been shown. You gotta keep in mind how LGBT+ is treated in Japan. While it is not really discriminated against like here in the USA (aside from the conservatives in Japan), it still is kinda kept in it's own box when it comes to media. Very few anime outside of Boy Love and Girl Love anime will have LGBT+ characters in them, and when they do they keep it subtle, like with Miyamura being subtly Pansexual or Bisexual. Skip and Loafer has a Trans Aunt, thats a good one.

I will never tire of how refreshing it is to have a romance anime with good communication. LOVED the way Rintaro stood on business and said NO to avoiding Kaoruko, instead of tripping over his words, avoiding the subject, or lying to pacify Subaru.

I see your point, but I don't think those are mutually exclusive. It's definitely possible to love someone romantically and also idolize them.

i just don't agree. don't see it at all. tons of people can be bad with men, and not gay. plus ive read the manga, so i know the answer.

It's interesting as someone who is reading the manga seeing where the cliffhangers change. In the manga the book ends as Subaru pulls on his back pack so we had to wait for the next book to see how it went down where as this ends in the middle of a chapter but is still a good cliffhanger
