I love how Alicia recognized early that fake Connie was off, but there's an even earlier way to tell: their argument about the color of Lisa's cloak. Steven thinks it's red because of the setting sun, but Connie argues "the sun sets black over the mines". Fake Connie wears a red cloak (to fit in with Steven's perception), real Connie wears the black one.

Foggy Pearl's crashout is another moment *seared* into my memory. And yeah, it's really weird and out of character that NONE of the Gems checked on Steven. Pearl doesn't even help him up, after checking that he's alive. NO ONE know what the FUCK Steven is, or how to handle it! While not an excuse, it does kinda explain how weird everyone acts when they're reminded of how she's gone. That Million-Mile stare of Pearl's at the end says so much. Steven is the best though. Cheering her up. Listening to Pearl's EPIC Tales of War.

I just finished binging this show and immediately went into a rewatch via reactions (like this one) Pearl episodes have been my absolute favorite so far in my rewatch, and in retrospect. I feel like it wasn't until way late into the series that I realized she was my favorite gem, and it's nice to see early episodes enforcing that.
