THE SOUTRHEN HERO! YES! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE SINCE I FIRST READ THE CHAPTER! He is just such an absolute legend. And I adore that Frieren lets him be. Because it is all too easy for a story like this to not want others to take spotlight, or for other heroes to be effective and so on. But the future is build on the past, and the Southren Hero is one one hell of a brick. He knew he was going to die, but he also know it would not be in vain. Fuck I love that man, and we only knew him so briefly.

In League of Legends terms, The Hero Of The South basically solo stole the Elder Dragon against the entire enemy team, killed 4 of them, and somehow also took down a tower in that fight before he died.

I still love the concept of "folk magic" - just utility spells for super mundane things like changing fruit and cleaning clothes that I'm guessing basically anyone could do - I feel like it ties into her quest to learn more about humans / basically helping people for pennies in return, it says a lot about both her more all-encompassing interest in magic, and her good nature.

She didn't leave her staff, after watching it several times from different reactors I noticed that it was Stark's axe that was dropped not her staff. He then has it when he's running away, so maybe it just looks like he dropped it while he actually kept hold of it.

Unless I'm the one doing my math wrong I think only 1 sage of destruction remains. They said they killed 2, so 5 remaining, the hero of the south killed 3, so only 2 remaining, and in this show we saw Aura be killed, plus when she mentions two running away Fern mentions Aura.

My headcanon is the demons wouldn't even be able to do half of those "folk spells" because they wouldn't understand why they exist in the first place.

people often talk about how frieren only collects useless spells, but I like to think of frieren's type of magic kind of like minecraft mods. Yes a mod that adds super powerful weapons is great, but i really want one that sorts my chests for me, or lets me teleport around the world, or lets me do 101 other small annoying tasks just that bit easier. Its like when fern got the clean clothes spell as her reward. Its not a necessity but it makes laundry really damn easy

Damn. I know only the worst of people sympathize with the demons, and I don’t “sympathize” but I LOVE how they’re written. The Sword Demon is so interesting cause Demons don’t usually hide their horns and prefer to show off when they fight, but she seemed to only attack when you least expect it and wouldn’t notice her before it’s too late. Why does she choose to act like this? Where did she learn the whole “Wandering Priestess” routine? Ugh- Demons are so interesting!

thats why if somehow offered a D&D spell, i will always 100% choose Prestidigitation over any damaging spell, because is not just a "free use" spell that requires no magic power (is a cantrip, so no spell slot used) but also has a lots of creative ways to be used, hell, the spell Fern choosed from Serie was ONE of the uses of prestidigitation, no, wait, 2 , since prestidigitation can clean stuff and make them smell nice, can also warm or cold stuff and give flavors and do sounds and ignite fires, etc
