I love her dark scene rant, EXACTLY! Filming in the dark wasn't smart even WITH practical effects! If you have a shot of a scene, you have always been able to darken the film afterwards. Instead of it looking like pitch black grainy garbage, you can SEE the dark scene! What a concept! Doing lighting properly even made green screen like effects possible without CGI, so if a director refuses to light a scene properly for "the love of practical effects" then they clearly don't know the art form they claim to love. If any director or film maker says they want dark scenes where it's hard to see anything because it's realistically dark, they need to start directing audio books.

I'll add about leaving a drunk girl at a party, I agree completely, don't do that. But remember that this is also a girl who is saying "No" to him taking her home. The thing to do is NOT LEAVE EITHER, but I do want to make a clear distinction here that you can't force someone to go with you using the excuse "She's my girlfriend/boyfriend". If you see someone not wanting to let someone else take them home, STOP THEM IF YOU CAN AND CALL THE COPS. But yeah, Steve reacted wrong, but Steve wasn't her only friend there (closest one, definitely) and she was refusing to leave home. The right move would have been to make sure someone else took responsibility before leaving. But normalizing "Oh my girlfriend is too drunk so I'm taking her home" if she is against it is BAD.
