2026-10-07 05:00 I think it makes more sense to protest at the Town Hall. People with relevant powers are more likely to notice and no matter how you feel about the mall, obstructing/disrupting business could result in an arrest. *Whoops! I forgot about permits.

It is so weird to watch GenZ people experiencing the 1980s. as a Gen Xer I am used to seeing companies like the gap, which is what it was called back then being called the gap, which is why if you talk to somebody my age about gap we always call it the gap I think that changed not that long ago because people started to do associate the gap with the gap between a girl’s legs, and that was a negative connotation but I could be wrong, but yeah everything that you see in this show is accurate to the 80s when it happened so if it looks weird to you, that’s because you only know it from the post 2000 era. It’s sort of like whenever. I see something in a movie that takes place in the 50s or 60s and I realize that some of the businesses that I’m familiar with in my time period. We’re very different back in those time periods. I mean it’s crazy to think that it’s been 40 years since the 80s.

back in the 80s and 90s there were tons of protests against malls both at town hall and the malls themselves. At the time, it was mostly a thought pattern of "this is new, how to deal with it" and protests worked so well for Vietnam cough cough. so why not here. it wasn't the solution they hoped it was more for the relief of the frustrations of people. These protests were just too common and rarely violent so it became pretty common place for the time. kind of glad they showed it here to keep it in memory. The protesters are pretty much the twitter activists of today, only being angry about it on social media.

That being said arranged marriages should not exist anymore in this day and age, marrying off your own to people they don’t know taking away their choice in their own life and future when they’re a child or even a young adult regardless of courting practices being integrated into them in some aspects

not watched the video yet so i may be lacking context, but arranged marriages and forced marriages are different. in an arranged marriage the final choice is still up to the people getting married

thats not how arranged marrage works my guy, not for a long time. in cultures that still have "arranged" marraige, the parents make a list of candidates, and youre expect to go on a few dates and pick one, but generally you arent limited tot he options your parents choose. just because you dont understand a practice doesnt make it inhumane and toxic, and you should probably make sure you know what youre talking about before you condemn another cultures traditions

They are written WAY TOO SMART for El and Max to not go over what happened the previous night with Hop & Mike and easily realize he’s the reason Mike is suddenly avoiding her… “oh, Hop was pissed last night and all of a sudden Mike is now avoiding and lying to me out of know where when all he wanted to do was spend time with me” the writing of this scenario having them so clueless and turning on Mike doesn’t make sense when they’re constantly shown figuring out all the other complicated things happening in the town. I mean I’d see Billy struggling to walk and his bleeding cut up arm and think he’s injured and needs medical attention… It’s hilarious Hop got stood up after screwing up El & Mikes relationship. Still doesn’t make sense to how the characters have been written that El & Max couldn’t figure out what actually happened between Hop & Mike the previous night. Smh
