Moviejunkie

The intro for this show is what made me watch it. “Welcome to Derry; Where Evil lives and Thrives”

slavicandsapphic

Omg this is what pasta was recording i c i c. So hype

Jacob Funckes

Oh hell yes, this reaction is going to be awesome, both with the horror and with all the commentary on the time period that this show takes place in.

Lucibear

Mitch Gates

ELS_Art

OMG yes, so happy she is watching this! I have been dying to see her watch this since the It movies! Honestly this series may be my favorite Stephen king property to date.

Patrick Waldeck

I dont know if she's seen it before but she needs to watch The Shining and Dr Sleep after this.

Sam Marsh

Well, on the bright side, the ending of this first episode marks one of the few times in horror related media where the black character actually survives!

Sam Marsh

It’s a bizarre coincidence that Teddy is reading Detective Comics #298, which features the Matt Hagen iteration of Clayface, and Alicia reacts to this episode the day after the Clayface movie teaser aired.

XanderDPanda

Sadly for this group of misfit kids with a plucky attitude and the power of friendship on their side, this was years before the TMNT got their popular cartoon adaptation, so there was only enough Turtle Power for one survivor.

TheGingerBreadMan

Me during the opening scene: Thanks I hate it! Also, I really liked those kids, so I'm pretty disappointed that they're dead.

Ric

I was eating some pizza at the beginning. I literally lost my appetite after "that" scene.

Hellguin

We need to bring back the word "Ginchiest"

AvatarConner

See the turtle of enormous girth. On his back he holds the earth. His thought is slow but always kind, he holds us all within his mind.

Kimiko -WitchyLynx-

Now yall should know Mr.King by now lolz. He's got zero problems with slaughtering the tinys 🤣

Crawlingchaos03

They have bazelgueuse here!? Why didn't we use him to take down that damn clown!!! oh wait...

"Special Projects" This is 1962, and with the way the driver looked back at the black airman? This takes place during the time of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, which ran all the way from 1932 to 1972. 40 years of deception and torment perpetrated by the US military against it's own African-American soldiers. Men who put their lives on the line for a country that despised them, only to be treated like lab rats instead of human beings. 31:00 You gotta remember, all the adults who grew up in Derry are terrible people. IT terrorizes almost all of them, but the ones IT doesn't eat eventually forget about him, and just devolve into their worst selves to help perpetuate the cycle. (My apologies if I'm spoiling 45 year old lore for anyone. Just ignore me. I have no idea what's going to happen in this series, just the foundational broad strokes. I also know why the turtle symbolism is important.) 39:30 Again, 1962. Pretty glasses, but they're probably lead-crystal. You know. Toxic. They even made radioactive plates and glasses back then too. The uranium gave them a nice, unique coloration. Not sure if doctors were still proscribing cigarettes in the 60's, but that was a thing at one point too. We have all the regulations on things we do today for very, very good reasons. I just wish the morons running our government understood that... >_< 45:00 DC before the superhero craze really kicked in.

Vincent Price

27:16 In Kings stories, which are usually connected. trauma usually triggers special abilities or powers as a response. Like how in The Shinning the boy dealt with his fathers abuse so it caused him to be psychic.

MinusZero88

Thank you so much for watching this Alicia. "IT: Welcome to Derry" is an amazing prequel series to the IT Chapters 1-2! Stephen King's horror universe is is expanding as we speak & I couldn't be happier! Your gonna love what comes next trust me it's gonna be a hell of a roller-coaster ride we'll written horror!

LuxLoser

What you missed from not seeing this live: When Ep 1 dropped, every poster and banner had this 1st crew of kids front and center. Then when Episode 2 aired, everything was updated on HBOMax to have the real protags. Diabolical!

Noman Rocks

Fun fact about Bert the Turtle: He appeared in the Iron giant
