so in '96 I was living on an island with a bunch of trees and forests. The kids would go out there and we'd fight with rusty piece of metal we found in the forest. Then fashion makeshift shields and start beating the shit out of each other. Then we found this abandoned bathroom that still worked! So we had a good hang out spot and started building forts. Then we had mini sieges against each other's forts. Good times.

Really? It's all felt very light hearted to me. I don't mean to step on any toes here, but I do have some personal experience in this area. I'm a white guy who grew up in deep red rural Missouri in the 90s. I know all too well the tone people take when their "jokes" about race are just an attempt to excuse their actual racism. Hell, I was one of those people until I was in my mid-20s, and developed a new outlook after some... personal life drama. Pasta and Alicia are nowhere near that. Besides, you gotta poke fun at serious subjects a bit, otherwise we'd drown in the darkness of the world we live in. Not saying to joke about everything all the time. I mean, make sure to read the room first, but in the appropriate place, at the appropriate time, even death itself can make you laugh. If we can't get to the point we're able to joke about racial dynamics and the associated baggage, we will never be able to move past it as a society. Again, I must emphasize "appropriate place and time", but also an understanding of the messy history behind it all. It's insane the terrible things we humans have done to each other over a genetic difference the equivalent of two different colored kittens in the same litter. Also, if you, like myself, are white, you gotta take that shit with a grain of salt my friend. As a group, white Europeans did kinda non-consensually fuck 2/3rds of the planet in the past few hundred years. Not saying you should feel guilt over it, as no one is their ancestors, but you have to acknowledge the reality of the situation, and we should all do our part to combat the myriad forms hatred takes in our world. Ya know; fight for love and peace, like Vash the Stampede. ;p (Apologies for the wall of text. I'm an old man. I communicate in short novels.)
