Mike

Great villain victory season :D also Ant can't die untill he sees VM season 5, everything Mighty Nein they're gonna make and then when they inevitably adapt their 3rd campaign.

Sam Marsh

Grog may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but even his impressive physique is nothing compared to the strength of his indomitable heart, and that’s why he is my GOAT among Vox Machina. And Andy Serkis, one of my favourite character actors, was phenomenal as the whispered One, especially in his moment of victory as he gloated over how easily he had manipulated them all.

Narluga

nooo my wife Delilah. you were a bad bitch

Port34

He was good as Gideon, but man once he ascended that ending monolog was just *chef's kiss* perfection.

RedRam-Ipsen

Gods i hope they have Arkhan help with Vecna in this show just like in the actual Campaign.

Michael Blacklock

Percy is the embodiment of "Anyways, I started blastin'"

UltramanUltimo

That spell he hit him with is a high level spell called Disintegrate. It's almost always a one hit kill.

DiabloAnos

I'm so ill after that, lol. That victory speech so epic.

Egregore

Look I get that the Whispered One looks and sounds stereotypically evil; but what exactly was Vox Machina trying to stop him from doing? The only thing we’ve learned about his plans up to this point was that he wants to bring back everyone’s dead loved ones, including every single person he’s ever killed to get there, and give every mortal the choice to live for as long as they want. I know that he’s Vecna so he was probably deceiving us in some way, but neither the characters nor the audience know that yet; so it comes off as our heroes just wanting to kill this guy for being scary looking and manipulating them specifically.

Dragonstar868

I’m predicting right now that Grog is the one to make the rest of Vox Machina that Hope isn’t dead. It’s alive with them.

Superabyss

Well it doesn’t matter what he’s going to do once he ascends what matters is what he did to get there.

Dave the Sasquatch

Andy Serkis is hands down one of my favorite actors. I really hope Alicia watches the Planet of the Apes remakes

bandi138138

depends on if Wizards of the Coast will sick their legal team or not, considering Arkhan is officially in Faerun settings now.

RedRam-Ipsen

yeah that true... Forgot about that. 😅

I wish I could say I enjoyed this season. The voice acting and animation was, as always, top notch, but the fact that they went with Legally-Distinct-Vecna (As someone that's played D&D for over 30 years, Vecna is a very cliche and (imo) boring villain) and an equally cliche "cult worships guy trying to become god and destroy other gods" plot just kinda killed my interest. I stuck it out for the sake of sunk cost, but I have zero anticipation for S5 knowing it's just going to be more Vecna. Boring old Vecna. Hey, at least they got Andy Serkis to voice him. It doesn't save the character from being a bore but at least he's entertaining to listen to.

Lynn

But what exactly did he do to get there that makes his (alleged) motives evil? Like I get that he's clearly meant to be Vecna, but as the above person pointed out, going just off of the information provided by the show itself, there is no reason to believe he isn't sincere aside from looking stereotypically evil. He's killed people? Cool, so has every single hero and god in the show. He lies and manipulates people? Again, so does every hero and god. His followers willingly gave their lives for his cause? Ok, that is pretty alarmi--oh, hi, Vax! Nothing he's said or done has contradicted his stated goal of curing death for everyone, not just himself. The only argument I've seen anyone make thus far is the assertion that death gives meaning to life--but says who? The Matron? We're just supposed to take that at face value because the gods say so with no explanation? The very gods who are immortal themselves? Isn't that just further proving his point?

TurtleKungFu

I mean, that's literally the BBEG of campaign 1. I don't really know what you're expecting Critical Role to do in this situation. Mighty Nein will at least not disappoint you in terms of creative final villain.

Goobert

Brother he outright admits to SACRIFICING innocent people in blood rituals right before he ascends, he tears out bystanders eyeballs to use them as god damn magical TVs, not to mention that hes clearly taken every place we've seen so far in the show hostage as you can see at the end. How much more proof of 'evilness' do you need

Joe Tickle

As someone who knows all about DnD, Vecna, and the copyright issues I know you want to say it so....Whose is Vecna and why bring him up?

Aliulo

I was under the impression this was supposed to be the final season. That's a pleasant surprise.

Gonchuits

The long and short for anyone curious, the original Critical Role Campaign had Vecna as the big bad, ascending to godhood. But of course, because of various copyrights with Wizards of the Coast and D&D as a brand, Vecna as a character can't be used. That's the case for many spell names and some other world aspects that are D&D adjacent from the original campaign. Most of it was original, but some aspects of it did need tweaked, to set Vox Machina and Critical Role as a brand apart from Wizards of the Coast.

Lucifer 669

Grog shows the difference between Intelligence and Wisdom.

Broccoli Ben

I abosuletly LOVE how they're adapting the campaign. Fun fact: when Vax was disintegrated, that technically happened twice in the same moment. The first time Vax was killed, some kind of role or blessing was meant to occur and Mat allowed it to take effect after Vax was pronounced dead, but very soon after Vax was attacked again and nothing could same him the second time.

Hellguin

So THIS is where Savathûn went....

EnderSlayer366

And, "This is disintegrate." A moment that defined so much of the first campaign, which many didn't expect to make it into the show with how much they've been changing, has finally come. Only one season left, and I hope we see more of Tary in it, maybe his bright-eyed optimism and naivety are exactly what these guys need right now lol Ant always getting things like this right will never not be funny. That said, I got no clue what Ant was going on about when he says Vax died like eight times. Out of everyone in the main cast, I don't think he's died a single time in this show. As a matter of fact I don't even think he's gotten in any close calls. On-screen in this show the only people that have died are Grog, Vex, and Percy, and in two of those cases Vax was distinctly still alive and risking his life with some Matron shit to bring them back. I get that it's a long time between seasons but bro? We just making things up now?

Egregore

Almost everyone we see getting sacrificed in those blood rituals were volunteers who Vecna planned on bringing back once be became a god. If you take Vecna’s words and actions so far at face value then the evil of temporarily mutilating and killing a few thousand innocents outweighs the good of giving everyone, including them, eternal life afterwards.
