Dropped EVERYTHING I was doing

Darc Hart94

I didn't think about it but how does owning a restaurant in Canada work if you live in the states now

Darc Hart94

Not gonna lie, this was probably one of the top 5 most obvious winners that hells kitchen ever had. I still think it should've been Heather and Keith. But this finale was a formality at this point

Yooooo perfect timing, it's laundry dayyyy!!

ON MY BIRTHDAY????? LOVE THIS ALICIA!!!!!

PoFtheDeviant

(Really Long Opinion Piece Warning) I didn’t comment this in the other Hells Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmare episodes because I wanted to wait on the reaction to the finale just to be absolutely certain about my opinions on Alicia’s taste in design and decor. Of all the Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares episodes where Alicia gives her opinion on Restaurant Decor and Design I feel like I can confidently say that I don’t think I would eat at any restaurant she designs. She doesn’t really seem to vibe with the kind of comfort or traditional stuff in the dining room designs I usually like. I personally can’t stand the aesthetic of “Fine Dining” at all. It’s too sterile and uninviting. Nothing about it appeals to me. There’s the excuse to dress in your more expensive clothing and stuff, but the atmosphere in every single “Fine Dining” establishment I’ve ever been to is absolutely suffocating. No familiarity. Extremely disconnected. I’m a country boy by nature when it comes to restaurants. I felt extremely out of place every single time I went to one. I was never comfortable at all. Plus the sensory overload of the unfamiliar details, the crowds of other people, the conversations, the lighting, the overly detailed food on the menu, none of it vibes with me at all. I get headaches and a cold pit in my stomach. The food itself was fine, it was decent, but I don’t think anything surrounding the food was really worth sitting through to get to it. Restaurants are always tough for me for everything I’ve mentioned, but “Fine Dining” especially. It puts those elements dialed up to 10. Anytime I find a restaurant that’s more closed in and down to earth, I’d much rather just go there. (I forgot to even mention the prices for them, but yeah those are also usually too high to justify going to. That’s especially the case when tacked onto the other points I’ve already made.) A lot of the more objective points like the color theory and some of the materials used are good, for sure. But, the more subjective stuff like general vibe and all I can’t do. In short: Too high class for me, personally. When I eat I prefer comfort and a feel good vibe. I don’t get it from Fine Dining and I get uncomfortable being there.

The thing about Americans and passports is...every state alone is the size of a country. You could go to every state and no two states will be wholly similar. Americans never have to leave the country to go on vacation and experience something new and different and thats why most of them never have pass ports.

Darc Hart94

Honestly I think Gordon respected Keith for standing up to him last episode and thats why Keith came back for the finale. Gordon has this weird flip flopping about people willing to stand up to him and call him out

On Americans and passports. Your average American can't justify the time and money on what is effectively a novelty I.D. For some people it costs at least 2 workdays of labor to pay for one passport. Also, they require a bunch of documents that many Americans either don't have, or don't know where they are. I've wanted a passport my whole life, but it's never seemed justifiable.

Fei Ashtear

Did that dipshit really insult her team first fucking thing???

Michael

Omg how's that for timing! Just joined this week and binged all Hells Kitchen reactions just in time for this!

TrueZero2

Yep. It was a big issue with Virginia's leadership style. She had aa serious lack of foresight with this stuff. The strategy had some remote merit as an idea, but telling them was a bad move. At the same time, it left Heather with three strong chefs to Virginia's single strong chef and two weak chefs.

Zeekutar The Immortal

when Alicia picked heather on ep 2x1 I thought "Oh crap. she's 2 for 2 and I need to wait 6 months to see it happen." Now I gotta see what her winning pick is during ep 3x1

Oddly enough, the happiest and healthiest marriages I personally know all had both people involved either as coworkers for a while, or as long-term business partners.

Man, it REALLY came down to the wire on this one. But the right person won in the end. Hope you continue with HK, the later seasons are where things REALLY pick up! Especially Season 5!

Dee Holmes

Heather ends up coming back as the women's Sou Chef in season 22 or 24, I can't remember :)

John Playstation

Wait … getting an American passport is expensive/time consuming? Why? Here in Ireland you just go through the online application process and it arrives in the post a few weeks later. There’s a processing fee when you submit your application, but I certainly don’t remember it being excessive.

Fei Ashtear

I struggle to afford food and bills at the same time. $160 is a big deal. And, as far as I am aware, you need to go in person to prove your identity. It requires documents that a lot of people don't just have laying around and also cost money to replace. All for what amounts to a really neat looking I.D. that I will never be able to actually use. Many jobs fight tooth and nail to prevent you from taking more than at most a week off for a vacation. By the time we're old enough to retire we'll be too poor, body too broken, to travel. If we even live that long.

53:39 Waterfall walls of that size takes months of planning and designing, and you expect it to be done in 2 days? Bullshit.

Keith's entire plan this episode was to put Virginia through some sort of humiliation ritual, I swear.

QuibblesAndGitz

I do get the question the losers have of "whats in it for me?" since that is a tough sell to get them to try harder for you now that they have no chance of winning than when they were still in the competition... It would be good if the winning team members got Some sort of reward from the show.. Failing that though, rather than offering cash, maybe try something like "Hey, prove you can work under me well, and if I win, you can come with me to Vegas to try to work in that resturant!"

QuibblesAndGitz

When I was younger and wanted to own a resturant (changed my mind about that pretty quickly after actually working in a few though lol) but my dream resturant was always something more like a Hunters Lodge (Starved Rock Lodge in Illinois has a vibe sorta like that) with a menu focused on Game meats.. Unfortunately, its unlikely for a restaurant like that to succeed unless its connected to a tourist spot like a national park

Season two finished! Hope everyone had fun, loved watching this with the gang!!

After 10 hours at work, nothing better than our Ratgirl.

Yolo Samurai

There is two things that I learned about this episode reaction 1) The right person won this season and 2) Sara lives rent free in Alicia head 😂

Rule #1 of Chasing waterfalls.... don't

So with the whole "building a kitchen for each side" thing, it didnt last long if memory serves, but the issues they had were almost always fabricated ones. Like the booth for heather, the upholstery guy not being able to do it and the booths being too tight, they would have measured it and already known or the yalready knew the solution. Its just to test the chfs resilience and problemsolving while theyre already preocupied. not my favourite part of the show tbh

Jayden

13 minutes later 'its a new day' what a recap. Glad you moved along so we can find out who the winner is!

mitchhamilton64

oh man, virginia really set herself up for failure with her picks but on top of that, they way she talked to them, saying basically "yeah, i picked yall cause you mostly suck." i dont think shes a bad person but she does come across as a bit like "let me be a part of this!" kind of attitude, like when she tried to high five that guy. she really wants to be a part of things.

Apofisu

This show is explicitly about fine dining restaurants specifically, though. Of course he comments are going to be about what looks good as fine dining decor.

Apofisu

It's not a novelty ID. It's a requirement to be allowed to travel to most of the world.
