This still makes no sense the second time around! Plot is desired, otherwise we are stuck with just artsy films, which have their place just not in ST.

The great thing about Trek is we are given a variety of stories. Both plot heavy and plot light episodes can be wonderful and over the course of a 26 episode season you need one to support the other to keep the show fresh. We need stakes to create excitement, but also we need a relief from tension or the Enterprise blowing up or Earth being assimilated. It all depends on what is trying to be done and how it is executed. For example why I think the Bonding never rises above B- tier is because the alien plot gets in the way and it's clear the show didn't have the permission to go there and just do a character episode. (But later they would in Family, Duet, and the Wire). At the same time an episode like The Doomsday Machine, or Yesterday's Enterprise, or BoBW gives the right blend of plot character and action to be compelling instead being a shallow action piece. Whereas I agree the s2 DS9 finale is less compelling because the character stuff and the action don't intersect well with our crew. It's far from bad, but it doesn't do much for me.

While you both did a great job in articulating and explaining what it is that you enjoy about Star Trek (and hope to see more of).....Guys, ST is a commercial product that needs to be viable enough to keep making more ST. That means 26 'units' of product per year for DS9 and Voyager. That requires attracting and retaining enough viewers. Ending on the scene isn't always fitting (it can be tonally incorrect), hanging out with characters for 45 minutes has its limits and ST is not as ground-breaking as many ST fans believe/remember. As for plot driven episodes.....DS9 is beginning an overall framework that will frequently allow plot and character development to merge. The over-riding DS9 story arc is intended to put the characters and the ST ideology through the mixer.

Target Audience

These points are irrelevant to the topic of what we enjoy about it.

I actually just have a quick question… btw, love your channel😉 I know there might be a schedule already posted somewhere, but if there is, I don’t know where it is lol. Do you guys have a schedule as to when you are going to react to the next gen movies?

Target Audience

We will be watching them in release order, so Generations is after DS9 S3E8 and then First Contact is during season 5 of DS9

Wonderful! Thank you so much!
