Summer

Great as always amazing how much of the episode you get into less than 2 minutes

Erik L Jerks

I love that Rizzmaster Jake gets some play in the trailer. A Dabo girl, at his age? Legend.

Lt Dan I Scream

Are we going to get a trailer every ep now ? Good stuff.

Naglfarius

you know what has no Limits? The amount of Banger Trailers we get!

Numinous2019

Average Brooks cradling a child is always a bonus.

Sam Langanke

Nothing teaches a teen better than a woman.

Numinous2019

Bloody auto correct.....what MONSTER created it?!!! I want blood!

Target Audience

Might be the best auto correct I’ve ever seen, I may start using this 😂

Matchstick Jose

“Actually, Commander, there's been a rare Universal Translator error. Based on data recovered from the wreckage, it would appear their preferred pronunciation is in fact ‘Gem ‘Dahar.’” “Understood, Chief."

Doctor Pulaski

Please don't make that a meme, Avery is amazing!

Doctor Pulaski

Maybe Jake knows what he is doing with his crazy drip after all...

Brian Salas

I bet he cradles O'Brien like that every time he repairs upper pylon 3.

Matchstick Jose

Yeah, I could use many words to describe Avery Brooks and his performances. But "Average" ain't one of them!

Dan J Reid

I thought he'd make a good James. That way we can call him Jimmy the Jemmy. I'm sure he'd love that.

Matchstick Jose

Just noticing some really gorgeous lighting in some of these scenes. (Odo in the conference room, Odo and Kira in Quark's.) I know Jonathan West took over as DP in season 3. Show starting to look a little different maybe?

Target Audience

Yes guys, that’s why it’s funny. Don’t ruin the joke!

Better Watch Trek

I just watched the original promo for this episode. Oh boy, yours is lightyears ahead! well done!

Target Audience

Oh he took over in S3? Ok sweet, didn’t know that. Explains a lot lol

Actuarial Lurker

Put that against TNG S5E23 about the Borg Hugh...an easy S...now you see why we love DS9- banger after banger...

Actuarial Lurker

Should this episode be called Hugh2 or Jake and the MILF- you decide...one species grows to kill and the other to "love"....queue up the Barry White music

Ian Ramsey

Mostly he's amazing. It's okay. Nobody knocks it out of the park Avery time.

Ian Ramsey

Those that know, know. The rest are Haters, lol.

Deep Red

Man, it's gonna be hard coming up with different trailers for all these episodes and then potentially Voyager too? I salute your endeavor, Josh-san. Godspeed

Narnman

Fantastic and it feels like the episodes are coming lightning fast lately

Matchstick Jose

Like that you got some shots of Jake Sisko in there Abandoning the game of mortal men and ascending to his own level.

Matchstick Jose

Just remember, Josh, Avery Brooks is watching...

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

The scenes with Ben and Jake are some of the best of the series. Many of us kids from that time saw Avery as our mentor on how to be a good father.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

He may actually be… that’s the funny thing. I saw recently that he still gets and gives approvals on Star Trek related things and that behind the scenes they talk to him regularly.

Numinous2019

He's my favorite ST lead actor....and I feel tinges of guilt about that, since Shatner, Stewart and Mulgrew were ideal casting.

Doctor Pulaski

The thing is, they totally could remaster it not just for 4k (like with TNG), but with widescreen as well. They shot the masters on film with a wide aspect ratio in order to be "future proof". This means the version we are watching is actually cropped to 4:3, as opposed to TNG which was shot with 4:3 in mind. The special effects like Odo, etc. were all added to the 4:3 version though, so all of that would have to be redone, but it would be worth it. Those Odo effects are one of the only parts of the show that didn't age well, everyting else looks amazing. A lot of the space stuff would have to be redone also.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

I’m well aware it was shot in 16x9 and the effects shots would need to be redone. Sadly it’s only season 3 on that were shot in 16x9. The first 2 seasons would either need to stay 4x3 or have majour work done to get them in 16x9. IMO a high def 4x3 for season 1 and 2 would be fine to cut costs. Most of the effects should get the remake treatment but keep in the same tone as the original. Similar to the TNG rework.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

Also, just to add, the 4K scenes they have released of the show are freaking incredible. The show was shot and lit like movies. So it pops on screen like no other show does from that time. Just incredible work back in the 90’s.

Fedora The Explorar

Okay what will be the first DS9 Season 3 episode to NOT get a trailer thats the question

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

Season 3 was shot and lit for the eventual rerelease in high definition that the producers expected. The show from here on out is lit as if it’s made to be shown in a theatre. The second TNG movie was lit the same way as DS9. It’s a stunning change for TNG but it’s the typical DS9 lighting. DS9 is begging for a theatrical rerelease. I have seen a few original shots even in Season 2 - tribunal that really show Avery’s vision for that episode that make it pop. Even though they did not shoot it fully 16x9 at that point, they did light some scenes more theatrically.

Joshua Gudiso

Wasn’t it shot safe for 16x9 but still composed for 4x3?🤔 Even though there is available image on the sides, it will be negative space that wasn’t meaningfully framed and blocked for. Dead space, essentially.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

Some scenes yes but other scenes always had spillage because DS9 interior shots had a lot of background things happening. You will get more character scenes centered in frame but it’ll open up more background extras that were often cut because of the framing for the 4x3 output. Also, panning a 16x9 shot happened in many shots as well. So that panning in the high def image could be eliminated or used more dramatically.

Doctor Pulaski

Joshua Gudiso, No I believe the framing was done intentionally to look good for 16x9 as well. Check out the few scenes that were released in 4k a few years ago to see how good it is.

Doctor Pulaski

I didn't realize they didn't do all that for season 1-2. In that case, the most logical course of action is give those two the TNG remaster treatment.

sword bard

There's a spinoff Saturday morning cartoon about his fights in the holosuite, but it seems confusingly unrelated, for a show about Jem and the Holograms

JordanK1991

Awesome. Kai Winn approves this trailer. Walk with the Prophets, my children.

M Palmiere

been waiting for your reaction to this one for a while. your wished for scene granted finally. maybe sometimes the present does affect the past.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

The only episode I question how it was shot is tribunal. It has a very different lighting look to it and has a very theatrical feel. I know in the review the guys were upset by the exterior lighting. The interior shots are something else, you can tell Avery did the interiors and someone else did the exteriors.

Doctor Pulaski

I remember reading that Avery was very ambitious and domineering when he directed trek, and that was his first episode, so maybe he had something to prove.

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

I’ve heard his directing method was not domineering but more nuanced. He didn’t tell actors what to do, he expected them to come prepared. If you were unprepared he would give you a look to let you know he wasn’t impressed. This is how Terry and Colm both describe it in interviews. Colm praises Avery for his method and said anytime Avery was down to working on something, Colm would be there in an instant.

Marko

A very average Brooks

Sunny

This is great 👍🏽👍🏽

Sunny

Those shirts are all the rage back on Earth you know. Discerning fashionistas on Betazoid are taking note and rumor has it they’ll be banned on Qo’nos by end of month.

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

Approaching the zenith of the 'nature vs nurture' debate settling wholly on 'nurture' in the zeitgeist, it was quite the twist for Trek to suggest that yeah, maybe, but not inherently so. And to write an episode depicting the circumstances in which it might it not be so. You can't raise Alexander to be a Klingon warrior, and you can't raise a Jem'hadr to open a restaurant on the promenade.

Miranda

I am loving this trend of getting a trailer for every episode! These are much better than the goofy weekly promos in the original run. Now I am curious as to whether you can make a trailer that makes a bad episode actually look good. There are a couple opportunities for that in S3.

MJBull

Wait, is that good or bad?

MJBull

Better hope so, or you may be the first to die.

Miranda

The actress was 18, so I don't she qualifies as a MILF

Ryan

Ahhh, a fire trailer once again. Introducing a deadly enemy species and then immediately humanizing them is peak Trek. Can't wait for the reaction.

Ryan

From what I understand (though I could be totally wrong), the ROI wasn't really there on the TNG remaster, and that was always the more popular show, so I don't know if we'll ever see DS9 in full HD glory. It sucks because it really has aged well. Some of the big SFX scenes from later seasons are eye-popping even today.

Miranda

I think this episode does NOT humanize the Jem'Hadar. In fact, I think that is the point.

Ryan

But they try, even after their initial experience with them. For me that’s what sets Star Trek apart from a lot of other shows.

harrypothead42024

how long does it take to bang out these trailers?

harrypothead42024

Much Better than the old, "Next time on Star Trek" crap. I always hated those.

Ryan

It does feel like the writers saying “We’re not TNG,” and good for them. I just love that Odo of all people is the one who hopes against hope.

Mark Chrisco

I wish the episode was as good as the trailer.

Tim Nikiforovs

It's a ways off, but the DS9 promos for season 6 are still stuck in my head after all these years. Love the music they used in those. They're very 90s, but in a good way.

A Plain and Simple Tailor

Allamairaine count to four set to the cadence of “One two Freddys coming for you”

Target Audience

SOME GAMES. HAVE. CONSEQUENCES. See, it would be ironic since it actually doesn’t
