Interesting…seems like there is more to Hap. This got me thinking, What if Hap was one of the pups “tossed to the young bulls for a bit of sport?”

I just hope the meeting between Oren and Swift goes well. I think the only chance Swift, her maimed mate, and the pups have of living is to join Stone Hallow. If they stay in the woods, it'd probably only be a matter time before the Zenith pack finds them. Pretty sure they mentioned another place but it has big cats? So that's a no-go. Options are limited.

This raises the stakes about what kind of leader Hap is. Rake makes it sound like her injury is personal and shameful, so the most likely options are 1) she did something reckless, and that undermines her leadership because she described the LAST Moon as reckless in comparison to herself, or 2) her injury is someone else's fault, probably a bison's (maybe even Sweetgrass's), and by becoming the most powerful wolf and keeping mum about it, she's keeping the herd's loyalty through a shred of guilt

Yep, I know that. :) I know that Red can't walk on his own, seeing Swift helping him several times. She already is a different wolf from others, choosing not to abandon her mate when others probably told her to. And then they listened to Rask. Perhaps they are willing to be something different in order to be kept safe... more different. Red and the Pups are not much of a threat. In a way, it's almost like what Rask has gone through.
