Guest host Grant is joined by James to discuss the aftermath of the 3-3 draw in the penultimate Old Firm game of the season, a result which leaves things the same as before the game at the top of the table. The guys discuss whether either team can count this as a psychological victory with only 7 games remaining and the importance that Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima can have on the side in these fixtures. Also, up for discussion is if we are starting to see the downturn in form for Conor Goldson and James Tavernier before concluding with a lookahead to this weeks fixtures at Dens Park and Dingwall.

Think I concur with James on Tav and Goldson. Going forward this season, Sterling in RB , with Tav supporting in an attacking position may be prudent at Parkhead. Balogoun should be given a chance in CB position. There are standards for everyone to deliver .

Graham McCallum

Celtic will feel much better about that point today. Rangers fucked it yesterday, Celtic now know we shite ourselves when we face them.

Latimer

Good summation lads. I think we all know where the issues lie.

C. J

Goldson has regressed massively this season in a physical sense but also in terms of his ability on the park. He looks frail compared to his former self, but on the ball he looks absolutely useless. A shadow of the defender that dominated this league.

Scott Scobbie

Not expecting an all happy and contented podcast but can u make it any more depressing, yea we wanted to win but we fought back and still in the fight try a bit more positivity

John leitch

We got out of jail We pay them too much respect Our opening line up was wrong Sterling should be starting at right mid One game at a time now and no fear

Colin Hutchison

The foul away all game breaking our play up we just don't seem to do that back to them.

MARK DRIVER

1st half was shocking, I think we need to get to a place now where it’s acceptable to rotate and occasionally substitute Tav and or Goldson to get the best out them, playing every minute of every game is only going to get harder for them as they are both in 30s now and drop of is inevitable, I don’t think we will sell either and will in all likelihood go to Tav’s testimonial when it comes round so getting the best out of them needs to become a priority I was desperate for a win to send a message but after the 1st half think a draw is a good result in the end On to Wednesday for another huge 3 points and hopefully go back top of the league. I still think we have the winning of this league but we’re going to do it the hard way.

Fabio Silva , the boy who cried wolf ....drove me bonkers yesterday who his histrionics meaning true fouls are not given

Kev Roberts

Some great points there gents Goldson's time has come I feel we could manage Tav a bit longer, but he shouldn't be 1st choice RB next season

Billy Forrester

I see it’s Tav bashing time again. I don’t agree with anyone who wants him displaced, moved on etc as without his goals and assists we are fighting for 3rd place. We know his defending can be erratic at times but yesterday was a freak fluke of a goal. Tav stepped up and fired a penalty in to get us back in to the match, that takes balls. Easy target is Tav for the snipers. Yesterday was a mixed bag and we recovered well, win Wednesday we are 2 points clear with 6 to play, I’m delighted to be in that position

Alex Oliver

Win our next 2 games and we go into the split at the top of the table. I think that’s a massive boost psychologically

Alan Riddell

Surprised nobody is talking about that absolute clown Stewart on sportscene last night. He was literally shouting every time rangers got a decision. Man is an absolute balloon reject and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a Rangers game. Shame on you BBC Scotland.

Alan Riddell

I agree about both Goldson and Tavernier, end of season they need to be replaced. I’d keep tav as a stand in for a new right back. His arms out at 21 seconds staggered me and he also caused the shot that butiand saved with a slack poor miss pass. Goldson looks slow and sluggish and his time is done at end of season. He cannot seem to get any headers on target, the one from the corner off his shoulder was really poor.

Rona Bluebell

I think we all know this is a season too far for many. That we are here and about to go top is the surprise! Can they get us over the line? I bloody hope so.

Gregg

He is best ignored - when ex referees and most Celtic and Rangers fans are saying the ref had a good game, that he is raging is very telling. Seems to be his persona - he’s always raging about something. A man in desperate need of his hole

Alan Ryder

James spouting absolute nonsense about Tav. Any other day that goes into the stand - they always seem to get the break of the ball against us. Goldson I agree is in the declined. I’ve been a massive defender of his but unless there’s a major turnaround I don’t see him as a starting centre half for us next season.

Vanb bryceter

Its because he is a bellend and what he says is incoherent drivel but well done for giving the fud a mention on here ffs

Vanb bryceter

Tav stays to help his replacement imo Goldson should drop out for Balogun i think leon is more aggressive and thats something we need for the run in big time

Ashley_H

Fair analysis of what was a very strange day. Clement deserves all the credit in the world for the general turnaround this season, but I am a little concerned with the team selection and the fact he didn’t change before half-time. If Celtic are more clinical that game is over after 40 minutes and the title is gone. We’re still alive for now but it’s a tall order given we do not turn up for games at Parkhead

Jim Milne

Everyone agrees with Clement that the players weren't prepared for the season properly as per Beale. Need to remember Goldson was thrown in against Kilmarnock with absolutely NO PRE-SEASON. Goldson isn't finished, he's knackered and hardly surprising. People need to tone it back with Tav and Goldson. The wind was a major factor in the game. As per David's comments in DU. If Sterling plays ahead of Tav that entire threat on the right is nullified.

Jay

Tav has a 75% loss record in this fixture. Too much scar tissue

Ross

We were so poor in the first half because the absolute blow we suffered after 25 seconds. It knocked the players and fans. Much better second half. It’s gave me a lot of confidence for parkhead if we can keep things tight until half time and grow into the game. Have confidence we a get at least a point there.

Granters

I’m the opposite. The way the team completely shat the bed on the back of that early goal fills me with fear for the away tie. We’ve got to be much more resilient than that.

Ross

Just think the goal knocked the confidence out the players and they showed a lot to come back twice in the second half. Think the teams showed a lot of resilience under clement coming back late v Hearts and away to Killie. Just need to stop giving away cheap goals

John Jamieson

James saying we should get rid of tav is just crazy to me. He was bad in the 1st half no question but he wasn’t the only one. The goal is bad but 9 outta 10 that doesn’t go in the net. Overreaction look at the game as a whole not just the 1st half

Graeme Homer

Shat it, draw not good enough, league lost, the language used is shocking and a lot of fans don’t deserve a title race and a potential treble if/when it comes! Screw having most of you lot in the trenches, all week I heard no surrender and now white flags and insults. Shell shocked from a freak opening goal costed them until PC got them back in and regrouped them. I was dejected but had faith we were not losing it as despite how bad the first half was there was plenty of signs to say they weren’t any better. Where to start with the nonsense on Tav & Goldson, you bring up the 55 season and then ignore the elephant in the room who has failed to improve us and damaged a title winning side and system John Lundstram. We had Davis, Jack protecing Tav & CG & marshalling the midfield and now we have Lunny who isn’t even good enough to be called a flat track bully! If we are going to continue to complain about the lack of selling at the right time, let’s called out the culprits in Gerrard and King, both have it Billy big bollocks and have cost us massively!

stevan castrissios

Decent summary and I enjoy the opinions. In my heart of hearts I know that we will get a result at theirs. Which will be a bonus. Enjoy the draw that felt like a win.

Bixby Snyder

I think it’s perfectly okay to Jordan Henderson Tav over the next 1-2 seasons. Souttar seemed to be Goldson’s replacement but as good as he’s been, in general, he’s a number 2 at best.

John Palmer

Goldson has definitely lost a bit what he was like and what he can be and maybe we now need to look at replacing him and maybe Souttar? On Miovski, I certainly believe we should make serious move for him in the Summer as he's proved it against Every Team in the SPFL and in Europe that he's a threat and would absolutely score 20 - 30 goals a Season for Rangers. I think I'm over the idea of Shankland.

Jock Paterson

I’m late to this pod, and I know you have caveated it, but I’m really fed up with folk moaning about our defence. It’s really lazy and ill conceived - particularly when picking on the only two stalwarts we have. We have had the most frugal defence in the league for years, even taking acclaim in Europe, however, we make excuse after excuse for misfiring midfielders and forwards that can’t score. It’s utterly bamboozling. The defence is quite simply not the problem at the minute. The likelyhood is we will lose the league from lack of quality chances created and an horrific chances to conversions rate. Not goals conceded. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be planning ahead as per every position.
