Rory Wilson I think went to Villa, rather than James Wilson. Not heard how he’s done since moving south, anyone?

David Campbell

The team looked knackered almost like they emptied the tank getting back into the title race and now are running on fumes. Keep them honest that's all we can do.

Heart and Hand

Flying apparently. Even if he fails a Championship team will give them 5m for him. System screws small nations.

Scott

100% David, your point about buying and loaning out was interesting. Would make a good pod to look at where that’s utilised within the UK and success rate? Thanks

Heart and Hand

Ach it’s just a theory and there’s probably a good reason it hasn’t been done. I just think if we save the 3m a year, ringfence it for u-21 signings, loan them out for a year to Premier teams and sed how we go we might get a bit more.

Scott

We used to buy the best talent from the clubs around us and getting the right ones in the door would help regain more of a Scottish base, especially if they were Rangers fans as kids. Big task for the board in with this one, do they replace like for like or go down a different road? Time will tell.

Heart and Hand

I’d go round every year buying a couple and sending them straight back to their clubs for 12 months. Then you are bringing in a youngster with at least two seasons first team premier league experience. Might not work but what we’ve been doing doesn’t either.

Scott

Please no more McPake’s from Motherwell though 😂😂😂

John Jamieson

Hey David is there any word on the club looking to get butlands yellow card rescinded? No way we should let that decision stand surely

Graham Roy

Glad I came off twitter hearing the rubbish over Goldson! In fairness I don’t like awards taking place before the end of the season!

Robert White

Clements hands are tied. Opposition have sussed who he can't sub and target those areas with all out effort and fresh subs. Our pattern of play is also very predictable. He needs to pull a rabbit out his hat for last 4 games or it's more of the same.

David Baillie

Great tune David. First time I’ve heard that version. I can never understand why we can’t produce more players of quality in this country. It can’t just be down to poor coaching. There has to be questions as to whether our kids have the hunger and dedication to push on in the critical 18 to 21 age group. Far too many boys just seem to drop out. The SFA certainly aren’t helping.

DAVID PARK

brilliant tune, and I don't say that often 😀

Jock Paterson

Midfield have been mince. Don’t think Lundstram can be included going forward considering contract situation, PC needs to give them a system they can understand as it just looks like chaos at the minute.

Gregg

We have a young player doing quite well for us the now - and he wasn’t one of the better prospects apparently, do they just need a chance? As an aside - think we hoovered up a lot of young talent like Bailey Rice, Lovelace, Stevens etc. Just the way of the world for me

Graham Jones

That was Joh. Grieg sending a message t the fans about how they’ve treated Connor Goldson. Look, he’s been out of form for a while, but t some of the stuff online has been a bit too much. It’s not been nice to read supposed bears say some things I’ve seen published on social media at times. The team are just a bit short of confidence, which is good because it’s something that can be fixed in-house. They need to be reminded of how good they can be when they want it. So, they need to be challenged if they want it.

Tamus

No Phil We don't like gogic keeping it 2-1 Its not exciting Its shit

Heart and Hand

I like wee Ross but if you were to ask me if he's proof the system is working I don't think it would be enough evidence to change my mind. The other obvious rejoinder is if they don't get the chance anyway, what's the point?

mark Fullerton

A big departure in Scotland today ……Zeb Jacobs. 😂 👏

Stephen

Think another problem with young players is they never get a chance to get into our first team. Bailey Rice would probably have played about 20 games this season if he had stayed with Motherwell. He probably came to us to earn more money so we are part of the problem too.

Sandy Maclarty

David, good song. When did Glen Campbell sing that?

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

Why don’t we wait until the end of the season for awards. Seems counter intuitive to do it when say a better goal could be scored

David

I agree on the academy, it seems pointless. Any idea how much we budget for the day to day running of the academy each year?

David_Davy_Dave

Sadly buying players to loan out is very probably the solution For me though the challenge is timing Doing that this summer with Watson & Miller would cost us what £2m each? Wait til next year and it will be £5m if they get another season of first team football and the Italians come in for them If we are honest we could help ourselves by demonstrating a better first team path. Wouldn’t help keep everyone but might some. Are we brave enough though to say Jack is leaving let’s promote Rice to the first team squad with an expectation he plays 20+ games next year?

David_Davy_Dave

You’d need to be buying them at latest after a handful of first team appearances. A 19 year old who has a season on the SPFL and these clubs will want £2m In fairness we have pinched Lovelace from Milwall and Rice from Motherwell so we are trying a bit of that

John Smith

Well deserved for Butland but I think Shankland is unquestionably the best player in the country

Russ

Not to give the club an out but I think it would be make a huge difference if the B team was in the lower leagues (with chance of promotion to the Championship). We'd be able to geniunely build a playstyle throughout the club and develop our own players and coaches in a competitive environment. As is though, the clubs all fart and no shite with it's youth policy - I've long held that being in a 2 team league is a reason FOR developing our own young players rather than not. If you can't blood your own when you generate 4x the revenue of the team in 3rd then you've got a fucking problem imo, and it reeks of fear. Heck, Liverpool were crowing about the quad and have had a crop of youngsters that kept that fantasy going until they got their trousers pulled down by Utd. Look at City with players like Bobb, Foden, Lewis etc. Put it this way, if there was financial reward for giving minutes to youth products we'd be throwing them on like they're going out of style ha. Rant over!

Gregg

I’m not saying it’s working to be fair - I’d love our strategy to be having a small squad where the resources are targeted at quality. And your 3rd choice player is a young player rather than Roofe, Wright etc.

Robbie McCarroll

The cross boarder market seems better than the best youth in scotland but definitely think there must be at least one good low risk signing in SPFL.

Dingus

I’d go for it on the grounds of mistaken identity……. There’s no way Walsh if a fkn Referee
