Darren Ure

Our support can be our own worst enemy

Alan Gebbie

Our support’s lack of patience is part of the problem

Ross Thomson

If Warburton had stayed and been given the cash Pedro got we would have been in a much better position.

John

Ryan Kent was missed badly last season

Steven McNeil

Jelavic, was decent but overrated

Alan Weir

Jorg Albertz became a lazy big sod

Jamie

If Warburton was backed with proper funds (Pedro & Gerrard amount of funds) along with a proper DoF infrastructure, he would have still been here now.

Graeme McG

We desperately need new owners with deeper pockets and better connections

Ross

Don’t know if unpopular but Beale was a worse manager than Pedro

Zander Staff

Brian is known as Michael Laudrup’s brother because Brian was garbage

David Herd

Walter Smith cost us 10 in a row by preferring Rino Gattuso to Barry Ferguson.

Scott Dickson

Europe should be prioritised over the domestic trophies (barring the league)

Detective Comic Talks

Connor goldson is one of our best centre backs of the last 20 years

Mark Rennie

Constantly referring to winning the league as "55" is pure tin pot

Rob Givan

We should have went into the bottom for the English football pyramid in 2012.

Scott Murphy

Resigning whichever ex player has been released from his club this week (Kent, Morelos etc.) is not the answers Lawrence Shankland is not, and you may want to brace yourself for this, the only striker on the planet

Alan Robertson

Bluebells are blue. Most annoying song we sing.

Tom McDavid

The Rangers captaincy debate is a massive red herring. It is purely symbolic and makes little difference on the pitch.

Jamie Gilchrist

Ibrox is tired and id have no real issue with us selling the land to raise funding for a new build stadium.

WILLIAM JACK

Tav is a diamond in an old Ratner's setting, and has not been a reason for our recent lack of success.

Brian Auld

If we could have kept more players fit this past season we’d actually have had a pretty great squad and could have won a treble so we don’t need as many changes as people think

Brian Rae

Brian Laudrup doesn't deserve half of the adulation he gets from the majority of the fanbase. He was largely anonymous in European competition and his conduct in his final season was disgraceful.

Scott Franklin

It’s embarrassing when we go on about being “the most successful team in football” I doubt AC Milan, Madrid etc look at us and go “they’ve won more league titles than us so they must be more successful.”

Bobby

Caixinha needed another transfer window

David Clapperton

Since coming back into the top league our support has been the cause of a high percentage of the problems we face due to a lack of patience, lack of understanding and arrogance.

WILLIAM JACK

Also...less of an opinion and more something I clung to in increasing desperation during the Pedro era. 'Maybe he's a genius who's about to redefine football and it's all about to click.'

Billy Poole

Steven Gerrard should have been sacked by the club. He was a failure as a manager. He only won the league because the tims imploded. 1 trophy out of 9 is embarrassing.

Martin Mcinnes

Castore strips are up there with the best looking tops. The bad reputation and want for adidas or nike, other than the initial 1st season teething issues are because the team aren't winning enough trophies in them

John Marshall

The run to Seville was on the whole meaningless as we won nothing.

Stewart Robertson

David Murray gave us some of our happiest times at Ibrox

Frazer MacLeod

I have loads. James Tavernier being in the HoF is absurd. Never induct active players. Same rule for Davis and McGregor, but at least 1)they deserved it 2) they are now retired. Carlos Peńa should have been kept and nursed through his problems because it would have been the right thing to do. Also, guy was a player. The stars on the badge for the league titles was ridiculous. Embarrassing even. If you forgive Kenny Miller for playing for them, you’ve diluted the rivalry. Orange strips are an embarrassment. Once every decade or so, maybe, but that’s it. The reason we can’t take corner kicks is because of the cant on the pitch at Ibrox and the players needing to step off the park to take them. Jack Butland let the England chat go to his head. Still really good, but definitely declined from Christmas. We should sell him.

Gregg

A decent chunk of our fan base are as tiresome as the plastic paddy element of the Tim support - you’re not holding up some Struthian standards Billy, you’re just an entitled insufferable bore

Watson Bell

Colin McMillan is a misunderstood genius.

Andrew Lees

Michael Beale's signing hit rate was actually good. Only Lammers was a flop and has proved good in Netherlands. Raskin, Cantwell, Sterling, Butland, Sima, Dessars and Danilo. Not a bad return.....

Watson Bell

If we had signed Messi at 18, 85% of the fan base would have written him off as pish and too small after 5 minutes.

DRKMN

Simply The Best is a fucking shit song

Fraser Hutcheson

Josh Windass should have been kept and would have scored 20+ goals a season under Gerrard

John Cox

Carlos Peña was a very good player for us - his goal to start ratio is very, very strong, and was the standout of a bad bunch at that time.

Jordan McKay

There’s absolutely no need to have the portrait of the monarch in the dressing room.

Stephen

It’s not exactly prime real estate. Where is the other £300 million coming from to build a new one!?

Andrew David Ferguson

We should have kept Josh Windass in Gerrard's first season. A goalscoring box to box midfielder and no midfielder has came close to getting the numbers he did ever since.

Barry Kerr

Dujon Sterling is the most over rated player of the present squad. He got away with playing in midfield because he's quick and has recovery pace but on the ball he's really poor. He's nothing more than a full back and given his fitness issues he should be sold in the summer if we get a decent bid for him.

Graham Hendry

Naismith is still a Rangers legend

JM

Take : Pods about historical seasons are boring. Emphasis should be on the future.

Ross Stirling

Every single player within the Rangers squad is easily replaceable (Butland included)

Gregg

Ps - let it go Steven, even the dug disnae like ye 😂

Scott Franklin

If we were serious about being a big player in Europe in the early 90s, Walter should have been on a warning after Levski Sofia and dismissed after AEK Athens the following year.

Colin

Laudrup downed the tools in his last season

John Smith

Jordan Jones would’ve been the next Brian Laudrup had it not been for circumstances

SDF

Tugay is the most overrated central midfielder to ever play for us.

Euan Third

People leaving games early has never bothered me in the slightest.

Martin Mcinnes

Whoever hosts podcasts should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

Iain watson

We are the Dirtmund of Scotland

Moody Marco

Not strictly Rangers related but I couldn’t care less about Protestants , Catholics, Ireland (north or south), loyalism, the Orange Order, the Pope, etc etc etc

Moody Marco

I have zero interest in learning about or hearing about any Rangers players before my time

Moody Marco

A large, large % of our fans are absolute wallopers at best and outright cretins at worst

Seumais Simpson

I love Adidas as a brand, but some of the smaller brands are putting out much better looking merchandise. Castore, Hummel and Joma all much better looking at the moment.

Moody Marco

I hate the phrase “fellow Bear” because it is used like a free pass for anything/any behaviour.

Moody Marco

The vast majority of our fans (and football fans in general) know absolutely nothing about football

Moody Marco

100% agree. I couldn’t care less what other people do with their lives, none of my business

Moody Marco

The way some people handle and take defeat and let it affect them baffles me. As someone who has had more than my fair share of real, horrible, life changing tragedy in the last 2-3 years, it has made me even further appreciate that football is not, in any way, shape or form, that important

Euan Cunningham

I don't like card displays for Remembrance and would much rather we went back to just having the silence. Card displays have an air of "remembering the fallen but for the Instagram generation" about it. Appreciate all the effort that goes into it but I find it a bit tacky tbh.

Moody Marco

Most of the players we’ve had who were true, die hard, lifelong Rangers men are automatically vastly overrated as far as actual football talent goes

Dick The Trick

The Union bears have inadvertently ruined the Ibrox atmosphere. It used to be anybody in any part of the stadium could and would start a song. Now we all just watch the UB. Also the timing of Simply The Best as the team comes out the tunnel is murder. I think back to man United at home etc you couldn’t hear the champions league song. Now we all stand clapping like that Limmy sketch “ in in in “

Mark

As a footballer, Richard Gough was a little overrated.

John McMillan

This thread, Light blue touch paper....stand back and....😂

Calum Robertson

This is the dumbest idea for a Rangers podcast ever!

Gareth bennie

Our nine in a row season Adidas kits were awful. Our last Nike one was terrible too.

Gary Morris

Bears pakora wasn’t actually that nice - the nostalgia of it clouds the memory Aye Ready salted crisps on the other hand - magic!

Al Robert

Interesting point with the corners. Very minor but has definitely crossed my mind before that it can’t be idea for players - maybe why we were so insistent on outswingers?

LD

I would have no problem with us signing players directly from Celt... Sorry even for comic effect I can't finish that

Ronnie Gallacher

The term ‘self entitled prick’ applies to a fairly sizeable chunk of our fanbase!!

Graeme Guthrie

Rangers da patter is tedious and not funny. I dont want to hear about pay as you play deals or any other nonsense.

Ronnie Gallacher

Simply the Best is a shite song for the team to walk out to as we quite simply are not (yet)!

Al Robert

As long as the Main Stand isn’t touched, I’d happily see any/all of the other 3 stands demolished in order to expand the stadiums capacity.

Jamie Gourlay

I can't see us dominating scottish football for many many years (unfortunately). Not just on the park, but how we are unstable off it and we no longer have strong relationships to control like the other mob do. Other teams also want to beat us more than the other mob because we have built too many small tussles with teams since 2012

Andy MacArthur

Paul Le Guen if backed properly in transfer window and allowed to change the culture within the dressing room (the bad diet and drinking) would have been successful.

Aaron Auld

Gerrard achieved nothing of any real note, we were just so terrified of "the 10" that we deified him. He got lucky with the bin fire Lennon lit and would have walked at some point during that season, in the self agrandising way that his city loves, if the other lot had their act together. That was actually quite theraputic.

Andy MacArthur

Loved the guy, he is my favourite ever Rangers goalie. But McGregors drop in form in 21-22 cost us the title

Dylan Brand

Todd Cantwell is a blonde Josh Windass

Johnnie Mitchell

Empty stadiums were a massive part to us winning 55.

Andy Barnett

Steven Naismith would be a good option for next manager. He has been part of a victorious rangers team that looked down on the other lot with utter contempt. His team plays good football, and given his actions in 2012, he’d desperately want to prove himself.

Ritchie Lamond

Tav is the best right back at our club since Sandy Jardine and it’s not even close.

Marc Stewart

I have absolutely no problem with Castore and have really liked mostly all the kits they have put out. Mostly.

Stuart McNiven

If you spout the line that 'Beale had a better win percentage than Clement' to build a case against Clement, you're officially a moron.

David Innes

Nacho Novo is one of the most overrated players to ever play for us - he only really had 1 good season and if it wasn’t for that penalty he wouldn’t be spoken about as a legend. His ability level was on par with or arguably below the type of current honest pro SPFL players most of our support would turn their nose up at e.g. Danny Armstrong, Josh Campbell etc

Max Todd

We should have tried to join the English pyramid in 2012

James McSween

Simply the Best should only be used when we are league champions. If Tav wasn’t the captain he wouldn’t get as much hate. We should be installing disco lights to enhance the atmosphere. Especially European night.

Brian Archer

COVID saved Gerrard’s job.

Mr J K Murray

der Rangers Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah football program should have a couple pages on players contracts,so we understand selections more & who pays der medical bills ect, hic, clubs used to own the players today, bring it back, it is the contract & players that now own the clubs,

Scott Franklin

Agreed. I also don’t like soldiers abseiling down the stand and “Rule, Britannia” being belted out. Remembrance Day should be more solemn.

Andrew Meldrum

I'd agree, but caveat that he did what many foreign players don't - he realised we were the peak of his career, and fought every day to make sure he got to come back the next day.

Kenneth Mackay

More of a related opinion than a Rangers one per se, but I’d be absolutely fine with Hampden Park burning to the ground so we never have to go there again.

Ross Hauser

Candieas wasn't any better than Scott Wright. People only remember him fondly because he ran about a lot. His final ball was awful.

Mr Ritchie

Winning the league isn't everything, as long as everyone tries hard that's what really matters.

Craig Clements

We don't need to increase stadium capacity as there have been tickets available to non season ticket holders through a public sale for every game at ibrox (including the tramps and big European nights) over the past few years.

Bob MacCallum

Dessers should never start a game for Gers ever again unless we have NO forwards of any kind available.

David Innes

💯- would like to see more Novo type signings. Players who are more than good enough for the SPL and will make up for lack of technical ability with a great attitude and will to win. My other ‘bad opinion’ is that Lyndon Dykes would be a great Rangers player

David Craig

I didn’t think pedro caixinha was THAT bad.. 😬 and his “dogs bark but the caravan keeps rolling” phrase was absolutely milked by the media. It’s a perfect analogy for what he was meaning and is a phrase from his country. People make noise but we keep on going. And it was made it to be this absolutely ludicrous statement.

Steven L

I don’t care about this most successful team pish.

Rona Bluebell

Gordon Durie was awful and didn’t deserve to wear the jersey. There, Ive finally said it.

Steven Nicol

Kenny miller was Walter smiths 2nd best signing in his 2nd spell as coach

Andrew Whiteside

The money we spent in the 80’s and 90’s was like taking a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

Andy Barnett

If we’re going to play Simply The Best, we should play the whole damn song. Or change it to an AC/DC track. Anything to create an atmosphere and make ibrox a fortress

Neil 55

David Murray got Souness in.

Jordan

Pffft. It's a bit of a scared cow but I will say it but the 90s fans are the worse. Hot take but the fans who grew up with the 90s and the constant referencing to legacy of the 90s is doing more damage to the club . We are not the 90s, we can't just sign ready made players, teams will take time to build, People turning there noise at Scottish players in order to get more exotic foreign players feels like it stems from attitudes being set from a time when rangers were one of the richest clubs in Britain which is just not true anymore. Honestly like listen to Alan talk about the likes of Jock Wallace more tbh. It's more relatable to the time at the moment and the kind of rangers team I want.

Graeme Burns

Neil Doncaster is doing a fabulous job running the SPFL despite the pathetic moaning of fools and goons around the Scottish football landscape. Record attendances, gate receipts, tv deal revenue, a Scottish team in a European final and the national team twice qualified for the Euros in the last five years marks this as a golden age in Scottish football. He is worth every penny.

Graeme Burns

If the league was restarted rather than awarded to them via junk mail we dont win 55

Allan Rutherford

Orange strips are terrible and their only purpose is to appeal to the lowest common denominator in our support

Jock Wallace

ditch the howitzer and led the beginning and end of the silence be marked by the ref blowing his whistle

Graeme Burns

David Edgar and John-Paul Dykes (Celtic podcast villain) should jointly host a 30 minute Scottish football panel show on BBC Scotland three nights a week, discussing topical items in an “have I got news for you’ style format, in front of a live studio audience and 200 polis.

Phileas Fogg 55

Jack Butland, is great , but has shown a few chinks in his armour in the last quarter of the season. Maybe not as awesome as we all thought.

conor docherty

We would have far more success trophy wise, had McInnes took the managers job

Gary B

Battle fever is now the most predictable and boring comment to be made in the build up to an old firm game.

Leslie Hibbert

Now that the Queen has passed, the royalism devotion should really be gradually toned down

Alan Weir

David has been asking for ideas for new programmes, so this might have some legs. I’d watch if Edgar was allowed one punch every time “K.D. Laing” said “Glasgow Derby” like the fanny he is.

Alan Weir

What a terrible take. Football is about the experience, the joy, the sadness, the what-could-have-been, the great moments, the nearly moments. Some things are measured by the journey, not the destination.

Derek MacMillan

His win record in old firm games is fantastic. Look either side of him and it's atrocious. It felt like we're back with him.

Lewis Wardrope

Sebastian Faure was actually not bad

Graeme Burns

The erudite Edgar would destroy the knuckle-dragger intellectually, leave him a quivering wreck soaked in his own urine. No punching required. Compulsive viewing, BAFTA in the post.

Jamie Bell

Tav would have had a better and more trophy laden rangers career without the burden of captaincy being thrust on him by default when Gerrard came in

Derek MacMillan

We as a club are becoming a nonentity on a European stage. Money is dominating the game and our lack of it leaves us fighting with lower championship teams for players.

Mark

Carlos Pena. What a talent

Miguel Sanchez

The right wing politics and royalist crap needs left in the 20th century. Half the bad press we receive is because people feel they should still be able to act like it's the 70s/80s.

Stewart McKee

Kenny Miller should be in the Hall of Fame

David Clapperton

As legacies go, the best thing to ever happen to Michael Mols was his injury. He was in the purplest of purple patches and his form was nowhere near sustainable. He’s now talked about as one of our greats of that time. He never showed that form or delivered those numbers before he signed (as the lack of any top class interest proves) and he certainly never did when he came back. Yes he was exceptional for a few months but would’ve level off.

Iain McHolm

Too many of our supporters are content with second place and use the word legend too easily. They also think that a player CM or FIFA profile are real life

Derek

Fans who slate Tav are idiots, and will only realise what we had when it's gone.

Watson Bell

Ibrox catering is state of the art, the fans all want raw hot dogs

Derek

2022 was the best season most of us will ever experience. No league title, cup win or treble in our lifetime will give us the same feeling as those Europa nights. Can't be beaten.

Mr Ritchie

My original comment was sarcasm based on the request for unpopular opinions. Who in their right mind thinks second best is good enough

Ross Stewart

Glen Kamara is the most under rated rangers player in history

Gary Sloss

Fashion Sakala is the best worst player we've ever had, cheap, versatile, contributing, we should never have sold him.

Spoon

We need to commit to a few season rebuild and do things properly or face being a spent force harping back to glory like Aberdeen

Spoon

Scott Wright isn’t that bad and Morelos is one of the most over rated players we have ever had….would be a close second

Gareth Williams

Jack Butland is overrated! We could do to cash in on him and give McCrorie a chance, Liam Kelly being no 2. Use the £ to find a rebuild.

Granters

We won’t have sustained success again until we return to a core of Scottish players. We need to start shopping closer to home.

Russ

Castore have made some great kits - the best since our Nike days in pure aesthetic terms imo.

James JCDCoaching

We should have been playing Sterling at RB and Tavernier at RW all season.

Granters

Correct. THE big difference between Gerrard and the others before and since (post 2012) was he got Celtic’s number quickly.

Robbie McCarroll

Every time the ball is passed backward it isn’t the end of the world

Gregg

Biggest rangers da opinion going - other than we need a team of bastards. Respectfully 😘

Gary Shaw

Ianis Hagi is the most overhyped player in our history

Gary Shaw

Alex Lowry should be a starter

Gary Shaw

Matt McKay should have been given a proper chance

Gary Shaw

Albertz was a better Rangers player than Gazza

Iain Campbell

A large section of the support will never accept him. Albeit he is developing as a very good Scottish coach

Keith Kettlewell

Not better than gary Stevens for me but granted it’s two separate positions compared to 30 odd years ago. It’s embarrassing that seasons ago we were questioning our reliance on Tav to score goals and we’re still here

Lynsey Roddy

Ryan Kent was bang average on his best day.

Keith Kettlewell

I nearly agreed there then realised opposition teams don’t have an issue. I always thought the set piece guy Tom calshaw? He made a difference because corners have been terrible since he left.

Michael James McLeod

Okay okay ,this is a football fact of life . Only a real fan stays till the end of a game win, lose or draw, The rest Support the team when they feel like it, I don't care if you bought the ticket and its your choice the team needs you until the final whistle.

Gordon McCool

Daily update needs to patch the women’s team update because nobody really cares.

John Graeme Paterson

Gio was actually a prick. Met him outside the waddle suite when I was 11. Just me him and my dad, hardly anyone there, asked for an autograph and he completely blanked us

Graham Currie

I want to sit on my allocated seat at away games

Ron Joyce

It’s time for Rangers to ditch the R F C crest on the jersey and replace it with the lion rampant badge (with no sponsor on the front)

Ritchie Lamond

RTV game coverage makes us look tinpot and amateurish

Craig Fryatt

It’s actually one good half season, I’ve said it for years but he did score against them but gets more love for pandering than ability

David McBurney

Lawrence shankland would have won us the league

Ryan McMillan

Papac has went from slightly underrated to well overrated since 2012

Ryan McMillan

It’s said to be ‘Rangers tradition’ when it isn’t. It was imposed in the 1910’s after Belfast-based shipbuilding company Harland & Wolff bought shipyards in Govan.

Alan Kelly

Securing 55 was massively helped by empty stadiums because the 2018+ leadership core cannot handle the Ibrox/fan pressure.

Scott Watson

The way James Tavernier takes responsibility shows far more leadership than doing a bit of shouting or having a bandage on your head

Martin Boyd

Morelos wasn't a good striker. He missed chances that would make Dessers blush. But because he wore his heart on his sleeve and could bully defenders he was loved. Never got the numbers required for a Rangers center forward barring one fluke season.

Gordon Masterton

Brian Laudrup was hugely overrated and downed tools in his last season

Gavin Thornton

Had Danny Wilson not shat it and moved to the MLS he would have been club captain rather than Tavernier

David Rorrison

Supporting Rangers is not for everyone, as proved by the comments on this thread.

Graeme Guthrie

He, like others, was subject to xenophobic and racist media in Scotland. Haha look at the funny foreigner etc

stevan castrissios

Simply the best, on it’s release did not mean anything to me. When the club adopted it, it grew on me and now i love it. Just memories. I wonder if they changed it, what would they change it to.

David Carslaw

We should be prioritising Europe ahead of everything every season. The only reason to win this league nowadays is to make champions League qualification easier.

Doug

Tavernier should stay.

Ross

Maurice Edu was average at best and that 1 goal makes him look a lot better than he actually was

Chaz Laird

Proper Rangers men in the starting 11 are a dying breed….Alan McGregor and Steven Davis are likely to be the last we’ll see….the modern footballer is a much more tender creature!

Moody Marco

The constant going on about refs and how hard done by we are is embarrassing and nauseating

Liam Johnson

John Lundstram has been our best midfielder in last 3 seasons

Conor Brown

A large portion of our support are permamently living in the 90s, have no idea how football works anymore and can't get their head around how a better buisness breeds a better team on the park.

Jimmy Price

Jack Butland isn’t as good as we make him out to be.

Conor Brown

Most of the songs our fans sing are absolutely terrible, turgid, tired or irrelevant to the club.

Moody Marco

The declaring of all current and former Celtic players as “shite” is cringeworthy and makes you look stupid. You can hate or dislike something without making yourself look a complete moron and talking absolute shite about it. Scotland match threads on FollowFollow are particularly bad for it, I’m sure people just go out of their way to try and be uber staunch.

Iain Mitchell

94/95 was our peak in terms of beautiful kits. The lilac 3rd is possibly the nicest strip ever made in football history.

Ashley_H

Barry Ferguson should be involved with the first team squad in some capacity. He’s a winner and might help lift the standards / eviscerate the loser mentality of this group
