Worth mentioning that Gio had twice the career Gerrard did - which wasn't a bad one in itself. I think it's been mentioned on the podcast we were fanny dazzled by Gerrard yet Gio played in some great sides including some of our own. Funny looking back really.

We need to sell to allow the manager to buy, and it’s Nils Koppen’s job to get us as much money as he can. We’re the worst at valuing our players as a fanbase, because we either go too high or too low. Koppen knows the true market values, and we have to trust him and let him do the deals his own way. This manager managed to rescue something of last season that was looking like a disaster and he did it with ‘that squad’. Now we need to let him go and rebuild the squad with a group who he wants at the club. Hampden is a shithole, and when we look down towards a country like Wales, who can build a 74,000 seater stadium with a retractable roof, then there simply are no excuses for the sorry state of Hampden. It’s a national disgrace and makes us look incompetent.

Re Hampden I simply don’t believe it is that difficult to raise finance to build new stands behind the goal through a combination of public and private finance The North Stand needs converted to rail standing/seating Both changes hugely improve matters

Gerrards a Shevchenko tap in/Dudek worldie away from being in the Le Tissier category of wasted careers at a club. You have to respect his loyalty and he was a Roy Of The Rovers figure for Liverpool and English football but if anyone's going to drive winning standards and excellence it's Gio - simply because he won time and again. Maybe I'm howling for this one but he's a formative player for me, I'll bat for him all day long.
