Tune! Game On tv series theme song back in the day

Leslie White

Colin get hay fever tablets, this year has been the worst for me!

Bob MacCallum

Surely teams in Europe never play in the League Cup early rounds, unless this has been changed!

Bob MacCallum

Plus QP don't play at Hampden now, do they? Is it not the stadium across from the Rangers end? I thought the SFA, not QP, now owned Hampden anyway.

Graeme McLeod

I understand why a lot of folk will prefer Hampden, but as a season ticket holder I have absolutely no interest in attending games in that midden. The club should, once the arrangements are confirmed, asking season ticket holders if they want to opt-in to tickets for the alternative stadium. They won't, but they should.

KennyY

Are the contractors not contractually obliged to deliver the stadium upgrades on time with penalties for late delivery

George Higgins

Murrayfield clearly a better stadium. Especially compared with Hampden from behind the goals. Oh,and not all Rangers fans live in Glasgow and many travel for well over an hour to get to Ibrox. A few games at Murrayfield isn’t the end of the World.

JimM

Get the crane out now. Get the pitch ready and prepare to accommodate all season ticket holders as best as possible. Ibrox is by far the best solution all round to start the season. Plan the works around winter or international breaks. Cutting corners has cost this situation. No expense spared when works can continue. It can be done. I remember we built three stands and added a cantilever to the MS. Plenty of games played at Ibrox whilst all that went on. Moving us is a much bigger ball ache both to fans and players.

Colin

Early round are in July. We always join in August. Played Morton at this stage last season at Ibrox.

Colin

I’ve been fighting off a chest infection all week and Liam Gallagher put it over the edge on Wednesday.

Colin

I completely owned the fact that my preference was a selfish one mate 😂

Graeme McLeod

Don't agree that we can't develop our own talent, Colin - the issue is we don't. When James Maxwell left in 2002, he said he knocked back another 12 month contract as there was basically no rhyme or reason for the loans he was sent on or any real plan beyond he'd go our on loan again. Nothing has really changed in that respect. We either seem to just keep young lads kicking about the B team for years, or send them on loans that don't do anything to develop them. Can we develop an entire team out of the academy? No. But Ross McCausland wasn't the only player from his 'class' in the B team who had the ability to step up into the first team. In future we need to have a clear plan and system in how we develop talent. I appreciate that will take time to get into place, but there's no excuse for us not doing so.

Baz

Martin, tea now!

Bob MacCallum

Ta. I'm losing it. Didn't think we played until after Euro qualifiers!

Ian Andrew

For a job like this, the materials should have been here buy the end of the season at the latest so when the final whistle went on the last game it was full steam ahead to get it done without delays

Colin

We have everything in place to develop our own except seemingly the patience sadly or the ability to play them consecutively when the stakes are so high in every game. That’s why I believe it’s difficult. Clearly there are exceptions but it’s few and far between. Even if we are bringing them through we should still be hoovering up the best of the rest imo.

Gregg

Murrayfield all day long - we’re unbeaten there. Fortress Murrayfield

Graeme McLeod

It's definitely difficult, but we make it more so by poorly developing talent. Even if we were developing our own players into the first team, we should definitely be signing up the best young talent in the league when the opportunity presents itself. We've arguably missed out on a few in recent years we could have signed too. Successful Rangers teams have always had a core of Scottish players, and that's sorely lacking at the club right now. (99/00 is the only exception, but we saw how quickly that fell apart too.)

Peter Hosie

To me the focus needs to be us playing the CL qualifiers at Ibrox as that gives us the most advantage. Everything else is secondary and that includes some fans not seeing it. Yes get the crane off now and see if we can get passageways and toilets open for some of the Copland, if not go with the three stands.

Hendi

Regarding the building complications, Get Pudgy Walsh on the horn, he'll straighten this out...

Ryan McMillan

If David has COVID, how come he sounds fine when he says “This is/That was a H&H production”?

James McSween

Do we know for certain that club hasn’t got a contingency plan in place ?

James McSween

We should only be focusing on developing our own youth when we are winning league titles consecutively. Until then we should be bring in young Scottish talent that already have experience at other SPFL clubs.

James McSween

Murrayfield with 67k under the lights would just be as good as Ibrox for a CL qualifier

David Kiltie

Great pod, Colin. Yes, the last two visits to the Amsterdam Arena bring back bad memories. They also reflect the change in our club’s place in the football food chain. In 1996 we were battered despite fielding a more expensively assembled team than Ajax. Two years ago Ajax’s starting line up cost 7 times what ours did. Glad to have Connor Barron on board, a signing which follows the pattern of younger, hungrier players.

Peter Hosie

It wouldn’t really as it’s the players familiarity of the settings which is more important than what the fans will bring which can add to the night

James McSween

Professional players should be able to play anywhere. They would get a massive buzz off us selling out Murrayfield for games tho

Steven Harvey

Intro one of the songs from Dumb and Dumber? 😂

ivor swan

As for Murrayfield would there not be an extra cost to get VAR installed

Gregg

How would that work when you’re trying to get the best young kids along to your club? There’s a pathway - but when you’re 16-18 if we haven’t won consecutive titles then you’re onto plums. You either want to bring through youth, or you don’t. There’s an argument for both to be fair but the above isn’t workable

Tom Smith

67'500 seater at Murrayfield the extra money from ticket sales would possibly pay towards the renting of that ground.

8luenose1872

I think the only contingency plans for this could have been to have another ground sorted in case this happened but what would have sorted the whole thing was to have the materials ordered alot earlier in case a delay did happen. For something so crucial it was a must to get everything we needed in earlier even if we had to store them. Dont know if that is possible for this type of thing but i dont see why not as its not wet concrete ffs.

Graeme McLeod

Plus the folk who think we shouldn't focus on youth development until we're winning league titles regularly are the same folk who would then say you can't bring young players in because it'll risk upsetting the balance of a winning team. You either develop young players or you don't. And given the markets we're now having to shop in abroad in comparison to 20-30 years ago, it's silly not to try.

Andy Elliott

Colin, you spent 10 minutes covering EXACTLY the same things covered yesterday, I get you have an opinion on it and it’s fine to give it, but please don’t waste our time regurgitating what was said yesterday. Rant over.

Graham Jones

Let’s be honest, this is typical of this board and yet we all act surprised. There’s been nobody driving the business for several years now, and I f you don’t have that person at the front then you’ll never move forward. Our next CEO has to be top level or we’ll continue to drift. Things do go wrong in most construction projects but not something like this. It’s poor planning and it seems there was a lack of contingency.

Colin

Andy, it’s a massive news story, one which I believe I started discussing by saying that there wasn’t a lot of news since yesterday other than the update that Hampden was potentially back in the mix. I tried to bring in some more context from yesterday by going over our August fixtures, looking at champions league dates and trying to determine how many matches we might be talking about. Like I said it’s a huge story and would have been remiss of me not to give it more air time. As well as updating the news, the daily update gives our community a daily place to express their thoughts and opinions in the comments and one day on from such a major thing I believe that’s still very important. Apologies that you thought it was a waste of your time though.

Baz

Totally agree and many travel from Northern Ireland as well
