Could you maybe ask the manager if he's concerned about the performance levels at this stage in Pre season. It's definitely not getting any better. Could argue worse.

Suspect some of our support have elevated him to a level that he just isn’t at. Never been a fan myself and think his biggest failing is constantly blaming others for defensive mistake he was a component of. If you are categorising him what is he ? Not commanding, not a tackler, not a pacey sweeper type and certainly not a good passer or headerer of the ball. He never convinced me and while our other defenders have flaws in their game at least the others have a strong point or type that he lacks. As has been done to death the quality of the squad is poor, the standard of player we have amassed is poor but many have convinced themselves they are good, demand for them will show the value others out with the bubble put on them. We have done this for years, Kent and Morelos found their level when they left us, rarely does the market lie.

Did it ? He certainly didn’t go for that before he drifted off into obscurity, I know there was lots of talk about fees and sabre rattling about his value but the original point stands players tend to find their levels. I would say very few of our ‘superstars’ of recent years have moved to better things either in terms of league, wage or trophies. Ironically theres a case to be made for the guys the support didn’t fancy doing as well if not better elsewhere. For balance, it would be an interesting contrast to review what the transfer market sites value a guy vs what they go for, not sure they would always correlate. People have had bang average squad players elevated way beyond the realms of reality due to them being ok in a sea of crud in my own view. To be a great at the club used to take time, commitment, contribution to silverware or a combination of the above, now you fire out a tweet, a tick tok or dye your hair and your a ticket. Not for me I’m afraid, if it’s for you then more power to you and enjoy 👍🏻

The set up scares me more, a lot of those with eggs in the Danilo basket must be seeing something I dont, when Dessers is as ineffective as that theres folk with torches and pitchforks. First half was dire and the potential diamonds in the rough we all hoped might emerge like Lowry look miles off it. Bad day when the highlight is a Wright screamer, although we might just get another 500k for him from the EPL if the right people were watching !
