Enjoy.

Fck listening to this. No offence James but the Execs are the biggest man babies in our support.

Bob MacCallum

The Lammers money should go to buy Shankland plus his wages would be less.

William George Bell

I can’t see a playing style or identity in this team and the managers had long enough to instil one. I hate to say this but it took fat Ange and Brenda no time to impose theirs.

Steven Carmichael

Dessers being played for shop window surely? Cant be any other reason. Hopefully gone by Sept along with Tav, Matondo, Davies.

Graeme McLeod

If we're playing Dessers to attract a buyer that's a bold strategy - with every performance his value decreases.

Graeme McLeod

Regarding Shankland and Dessers both not scoring, the difference is that Shankland was bringing other Hearts players into the game and was putting in a shift defending at set pieces too. His overall performance was better. If Dessers doesn't score - and in important games you cannot depend on him to - then he brings nothing else to the team. It's not for a lack of effort or being lazy; just not good enough. Shankland has better hold up play, can bring others into the game and he's a leader. Enjoy the rest of your holiday, Hoggy.

Angus Mackay

That’s simply not true. I had work colleagues complaining about Ange as late as November and they were hating on Brenda right up until the moment that our out-going team threw in the late spring.

Jim Milne

RE: Balogun, so we are no relying on a 37 year old most of us only wanted signed as backup and likely will play when fit. RE: Cantwell. IMO he doesn't want away from Rangers, he wants away from Clement and TBH he's been treated to a different standard than everyone else and I don't blame him.

Rob Whiteford

I’m all in favour of building for the long term. Clement will have to produce a style of play and vary the tactics. There’s no interplay or invention .

Graeme McLeod

Yeah, Ange benefitted from us dropping points before Gerrard left then after the winter break under Gio. Given the start to the season Ange had - their worst in decades - we should have been well in front by Christmas. The flip side to that is that you could see the style of football Ange tried to instil in that lot from the get go. Clement absolutely should not get 3 years to win a league title, but 2? Fair enough. But you can't expect patience when nobody can actually tell what it is you're trying to do. And "we need to wait until the end of the transfer window" is a cop out - we should be able to see a style of play now, even if we're dropping points.

Paul Kerr

Thanks for your time Hoggy.

Kev Roberts

Agree Shankland would of won us that game

Graeme McLeod

Think it's more that we'd need to shift Ben Davies before we could bring another centre back in, and his stock has plummeted since Liverpool signed him. Even if we were willing to let him go for nothing - and I'm not saying we should - he won't be of interest to the handful of Championship teams that could match the wages he's on here. Same applies to guys like Dowell and Lawrence. Even if the manager has targets in mind he'd rather have, there's not a long list of clubs who will pay them what we will.

David Kiltie

I came into this season with a low level of expectations. I feared the poor preseason would bleed into the league campaign but at least we didn’t lose. It is pointed out that Hearts with several new players looked more fluid than our team with only one new player starting. Hearts are operating mainly in the Bosman market so they could make their signings early. Our early signings have been young players, most of whom are for the longer tern, Barron being the exception. Our “big ticket” signings have only started to arrive this week - Cerny and Propper. We are waiting for movement from higher up the food chain so we can sell and buy.

Peter Hosie

We have so many toxic fans. Onwards to Tuesday 💙

SC81

This is a rebuild on limited resources. We asked for change. We will get it. Maybe not at the rate the majority of fans seem to accept though.

The blind faith narrative that’s being pushed at anyone with the temerity to suggest the manager should be getting more from these guys is the same comment that the Beale backers trotted out. It’s early, it’s not his team, it’s the same guys from previous squads. He wasn’t doing the basics of setting up a team and implementing a system and you didn’t have to have been a highly rated world coach to see it wasn’t working. In isolation multiple things can be true but you can still expect a guy who has been in the door for sometime to have worked out an immediate action plan. Yes he might want key pieces of the jigsaw still to come in, yes he might want fitness levels up and slickness from familiarity but what most Scottish managers know is that the perfect moment rarely exists and you need ugly wins and to play the hand your dealt. The deliberate planning is fine but you need a way to deal with the here and now that’s not perfect and is volatile. If it’s only about getting all your transfer targets or you can’t win a game that’s about 1% of the world’s managers who get that. Half the world only has coaches who train what the club buys and get minimal input. We can expect to be seeing more structure and progression towards a style, where is the exciting football promised ? One up and two dodgy wingers in a league that’s loves defending in banks with huge units who can head away all day, come on. I am by no means writing the season off, throwing in the towel or looking for the ‘board to be sacked’ however the set up is honking on the park and the subs are baffling. Bennett stated that while long term is the focus we must win now. The chairman talked about that being the driving imperative at Rangers, it used to be but we are starting to be conditioned to live in transition, ironically something the team are rubbish at forward or back. Last year when Beale kicked off he was the messiah who couldn’t be critiqued. His players were immense and we were like Del and Rodney talking about ‘this time next year…..’ it’s ok to be uninspired by what your seeing and it certainly doesn’t mean you aren’t backing the team but voicing concerns or frustrations. Especially when it’s happening more than the repeats in Groundhog Day. It’s a daft thing but the Shankland deal not being done epitomises what’s wrong with the club and if it’s true Clement ‘doesn’t rate him’ why? there should be concerns. He is exactly the type of guy we need on the park, as a leader and driving us on. He is right in front of our noses and he isn’t a pie in the sky signing. He can play 9 or one deeper like today, he can link, he has dig and he can finish. If our gaffer and sporting director are ignoring him to try and scour South America for a guy who might be able to play around Christmas we have lost it. Fans aren’t always cultured or steeped in football but they aren’t daft and it’s obvious that we have a player quality problem, a set up issue and we aren’t getting the best from what we have or signing guys who fit our league, yet year on year we are meant to pretend that magically in August none of what we saw matters any more and it’s all fine…it will be fine….its too early to say it’s looking a lot like last year it’s fine. I watched Rangers in the 80s and the fans didn’t always get behind the team and they still won. The fans booing the team last year started a run that nearly took us to a title, it’s ok not to be happy with what you’re seeing when it’s obviously not great and you don’t get where the improvements going to come from. I sincerely doubt a few comments on a forum derails the season, we should be fine. It doesn’t make it toxic because you want better, not just from the whipping boys but from the scouts, the signings team and the management group. We at our level are a team that will more often than not be as good as our weakest department or unit and we need all firing properly. Early days, yeah of course but in a league that’s only come down to a handful of games in recent years there’s not huge margins for error or experimentation.

JimGLW

Didn't expect the 'change' to be the same tactics, energy, set up and faces as before tbf.

SC81

We are only at the "getting rid of the high earners" part. If we had added to our bloated wage bill then we would have been goosed

Kenny Morrison

Not any different from last term but change one player and that's the striker ONE FKN PLAYER THATS ALL THATS NEEDED we were still chasing the game at the 95 th minute that's why we are always injured and we have to work a 110 %every game .

Gordon Watson

We’re talking about Ben Davies getting ragdolled but there was a bit in the first half where he popped out of the line and got turned then ambled back to help that had me swearing at the television. It looks even worse in the replay from behind the goal because Hearts attack gets held up then Davies breaks into a run after he had slowed down and was ball watching. That was worse than Davies losing the physical battle for me, it’s the lack of fire and work rate working back the way that grates. Seen it all before from him and he needs to be moved on or, at best - and soon, he needs to find a game playing next to Propper (grasping at straws here).

John Hood

Gio off to a great start with Besiktas. No funding for him and little for PC. Both talented coaches but without proper resourcing we're not going to have success in our domestic competitions. Very frustrating!

Scott Tolmie

Cantwell doesn’t want to play for clement, I’m not sure the club is in a position where we can just bin guys like Hagi, Cantwell and pick guys like wright, Matondo etc, clement slaughtered Beale for players fitness, are we fitter, nope

Michael Gray

The fog was partially lifted from Nov to March, but it has been there since September 2022. That’s where the anger comes from. Let’s remember that, and not put all the blame on Clement. The squad is at its weakest since Gerrard came in and we probably have less to invest, net. With the players available I can’t see any form of structure and style being executed effectively. Smart trading is the only way we can see significant progress on the park

William Shand

The negativity on this podcast was that bad I switched off halfway through

Hendi

These pods are getting harder and harder to listen to. Podders have a responsibility to offer context and balance. Not incite further discontent for the sake of it. Obviously it was the same as last season. We have the same team. Why would you expect different? We can't get people in, untill we get people out. The Chairman explained that. It's not easy to get people out when they're crap and over paid. So whats your solution instead of continual complaining? If we are behind Celtic after the old firm game, then it will be expected, because they have a far better team. Why would you expect anything different? We are trying to rebuild a squad after years of neglect. That can't be turned around in one window. We are going to have to go back, before we go forward. Podders should be helping set expectations, not rallying the troops to repeat our usual autumnal cycle, to start again...

Heart and Hand

Podders have no responsibility to do anything other than give their honest opinion - it’s a football website, not the UN. Really is that simple. So your starting point here is flawed - you’ve decided what people should do then got annoyed by not doing what you want them to. All views are welcomed, we launched two brand new shows last week because people wanted to give their viewpoints. You’re very welcome to do similar/email an opinion to the DU/get on a show.

Hendi

If I get on a show you'll be back on the front pages of the Daily Record... Will try and figure out how to email the DU, but thought these sections were to invite feedback.

Heart and Hand

Oh they absolutely are - and I’m not at all unsympathetic about your PoV by the way. But I do shy away from ‘podders should…’ because I worry it leads us down a road where people don’t speak honestly for fear of unpopularity or to try to create controversy. Then it becomes inauthentic and we’d be both letting you down and being dishonest if we did that. I disagree with a lot of stuff podders say but I’d be more annoyed if they spoke dishonestly to try to please me!

Heart and Hand

I’m probably too sensitive about it but I live in fear of us ever becoming a place where we get into two guys on a show saying ‘you say this and I’ll say the opposite, that’ll get them going’ etc. We’d end up like Boyd and Sutton!

Hendi

You're preaching to the converted with that pair of absolute wallopers. Nah I get it, would rather folk said what they thought, just frustrating that so many in our wider support, and at times some on here, seem to be taking some perverse pleasure in being permamently outraged and speak in absolute terms about every issue, with the club wrong on everything. We cling to mantras about "nothing but the league for Rangers", when realistically it would be almost a miracle if anyone could win a league with this squad and current resource. But anyone who doesn't meet these unrealistic expectations is then for the chop. If we keep sacking managers and making the next one have to work with the last manager's players then it's pushes success further in to the distance. Feels like the default reaction is now just to sink the boot in to the club at every opportunity. I'm definitely no happy clapper, if anything the opposite, but it feels like all sense of reason has evaporated from most of the fan base.

Hoggy

Hendi, I stepped in to help James on the CE post match show. If you saw the responses..... 70% wanted to burn the house down, 25% wanted to tell us how shit the world is and 5% suggested it's game one. My responsibility on this show is to convey the responses - and try and put some context around it. Which is what I did with some honest opinions...... like this has been festering since March and will only be sorted with wins. It's not really a hot take. I could have gone massively overboard Arsenal TV style - but that's not what is required here. It's a bit of honesty and to make sure that the listeners voice is heard. I take zero pleasure in it and I hope for better days ahead.

Glyn Davies

Spot on.....I was loosing my voice shouting about him, he gets caught out & you see that almost petulant reaction followed by the bimble jog back towards goal 🤬🤬🤬.....that is exactly what is wrong with so many in this squad, Tav was guilty of it in the second half aswel, passage of play breaks down & he just stands there with the poor body language & petted lip instead of trying to win the ball back. It's no surprise that Connor Barron is winning a lot of us over so early, he doesn't stop running & when he loses the ball he keeps going until he gets it back or forces the player to release the ball elsewhere......
