A slog as Gers get 3 points at Ibrox. David reports.

Wednesday will be the true acid test of this team David and I’m not particularly looking forward to it. If we manage to put in a performance and hopefully get a victory at Pittodrie, that would be massive. I don’t see it right now

Bryan Watson

We are so aggressively bang average and thats all you can say really. Rangers down a hole due to years of bad decision making, think only way out of that is to play the young guys who can develop into top players but part of that development is games like that today where it won't be pretty. Still think we look a very poorly coached side with no real identity or conviction. Pröpper failing to convince me that he can do it in Scotland.

stephen

What can we say that hasn't been said to death already.... That system and these players are incompatible for league football. Propper is a real worry going forward and we are at some point going to have to have a very uncomfortable chat about Jack Butland.

Gary Shaw

I hate this situation and it feels like we always seem to be in it….Im saying to my mate at halftime that failing to win today and getting beat on Wed is the best thing to happen in regards to getting shot of the manager but on the other hand I obviously don’t want to drop points 🤦‍♂️

Derek MacMillan

Kasanwirjo was very decent at right centre half. Would keep him there come Wednesday. Igamane rightly subbed at half time. Propper was a nightmare tho, Balagun not much better TBF

Vanb bryceter

That was as embarrassing a performance I've seen from a Rangers centre half. Ragdolled continually without so much as a wiper from proper absolute weakling.

Jim Milne

Rinse & Repeat from every other league game. Thursday was not a turning point, as most of us feared it would not be. I'm sick & tired of all the off field drama, having a team full of jobbers except for Barron and just want to enjoy watching Rangers. Even if we didn't win every game, let in 3 but scored 4. I just don't enjoy watching us anymore. Spend more time on my phone during a match because I'm so bored by it. Don't want to fire another manager, don't see much choice really but can't see the board doing anything even if we take a hammering to the sheep. To get here after 55 and Seville is a fucking disgrace.

Stevie Auld

I think everyone is hoping for a performance on Wednesday but let's be honest nobody is expecting one.

Jim Milne

What bothers me about Kasanwirjo, I do like him.......I'm not even sure there is an option to buy, and if there isn't surely we are harming ourselves by not playing our own players first. i.e. Dujon Sterling.

David Innes

I’m expecting us to be play better than we did today because Aberdeen won’t park the bus

Time to stop pretending Balogoun is a ‘the best defender at the club’ today both him and Propper who I just don’t rate got bullljed by a front line almost as bereft of goal so far this year as ours. Any team that comes and is physical terrifies Propper who is rash and should have studs on his arse. Igmane illustrating my long held belief that the nine isn’t the main issue in our team it’s the set up. Little To work with, had to drop deep and lost effectiveness for spells and asked to either hold up against 2 or 3 defenders or run from 30 yards out with nobody running beyond. Plus points, Kasawirjo is a talent I would like to see us pursue, he and Jefte were excellent again today and would be my MOTM between them. Barron did well but the boy is being pushed wide or into places where he loses effectiveness, Raskin was wayward with his passing and really needs to tighten that up. Diomande took the goal well but can’t understand not using the 10 we bought as a 10 who would have been a better fit. Overall the win any other cycle of games is a hard fought win. Listening to the Preview and how bad St Mirren are and its beating a low performing team, still conceding a goal and on another day nearly engineering a draw. It’s not inspiring. It was a win just not the style of win we wanted and it’s taken the upward spin of the midweek game and our hopes it might be a springboard. We still have too many overhyped but underperforming guys in the squad. The fact lots of people don’t or can’t agree on who those are is probably indicative of the issue, we have lots of small problems that solving one or two in isolation doesn’t change much overall. We are literally the negative sum of our parts, where others use their depth to offset weaknesses we seem to somehow amplify ours.

Paul Milligan

A shambolic, horrific, terrible performance once again today, and for the last few months. We are clueless in every department from top to bottom

Rona Bluebell

Teams do not fear us at all. They think we’re weak and can collapse and they’re probably right. We need to rapidly improve or settle or, I dunno, miraculously change by next Wednesday. A stay of execution today. Fingers crossed for Wednesday folks.

Adam Copeland

Manager just can't adapt to the Scottish game. He also talks so much shite it's boring now. Patronising bullshit. This is it. 90% of games will be this under him. Propper is no good. Total liability.

Fraser T8

Neither did saint mirren. There was space. Which is surprising given their manager.

Stephen

The sad thing is I am 100% focussed on wanting us to finish second now. Not even thinking about what Celtic do. Another thing that worries me is I am starting to feel like getting a manager like Derek McInnes isn’t as bad an idea as it once was. At least he knows how to organise a team to play in Scottish football.

Spoon

Have to disagree, I have seen lots of people here and in other places overhyping Balogoun regularly, it’s probably directly related to when he last played how much better he is to some. I think its quite a common oversight with our fan base, it may well be a football truism that someone gets better the longer they are out the team or the more you hate the guy who has the jersey, I dont know as I dont look at other teams forums. The fact a guy of his age and injury record is still here at all is a damning indictment on our recruitment and squad building that we as a support seemed to have just normalised. Certainly from reading thousands of posts on here and other platforms we as a support seem simultaneously very sentimental when it comes to bang average players in the last decade or so while being desperate to vilify others. Usually there is a seed of truth in there but we always seem keen to go to extremes of praise or pillorying guys. Agree to disagree, I certainly have seen many who last year and this would have had him in instead of Souttar or as him plus another as the normal pairing. Would say it’s quite a commonly held view, plenty of posts on here about it.

My biggest concern regarding Clement isn't the refusal to move from 4-2-3-1, the refusal to drop his favourites, the shoehorning of square pegs in round holes, the lack of clear identity or playing style, it's the fact he had 8 months last season to size up this league, work out what sort of attributes were required for summer signings to compete in a 38 game league campaign in terms of pace, athleticism and physicality and proceeded to solve absolutely none of our issues. How on earth could he have been here nearly a year and decide Robin Propper had the skillset needed to play in this league and would be worth the £1.7m fee, £17k a week wages and a three year deal when he was approaching 31 ? It's borderline mental decision making. Jefte apart, we have zero pace. We have very little athleticism or physicality in the team bar probably Sterling and Nana. This is by far the weakest Rangers team physically I have ever watched. I don't see how his vision or make up of a team can possibly ever win this league. Everything you require, we lack in abundance.

Graeme Glennie

Honestly david when is he going to stop mentioning about players being just in the building. It's becoming extremely irritating and when you look at aberdeen, becomes hard to accept or agree with. He doesn't have to continuously mention it.

SDF

For me it's why many are questioning the direction this rebuild is taking. There seems to be a train of thought that as long as we give Clement a significant amount of time then it'll guarantee success further down the road. I don't see it right now. How that manager can look at this league, how this league gets won over the past 4/5 years and think this style, these skillsets he's brought into the building and this formation are the answers is beyond me.

Christopher Bendoris

We will know what PC thinks about propper then the teams are out on Wednesday at pittodrie,

Greg Cameron

I honestly feel we have the guts of a decent side but without structure or being able to string a few decent passes together it's no use and that comes from the manager. Overall another complete toil but a wins a win right..

Greg Cameron

Sick of hearing this excuse about players in the building and there is no mention budgets when we are up against St Mirren , Killie or any other team in the league outwith Scotland's moral guardians

KMc

Agree with everything you’ve said above. Particularly the whole ‘He needs time’ mantra. It’s only going one way now, and it’ll get worse before it gets better as we all know.

Stephen

Most teams in the league have a high turnover of players each season so he needs to find a way to get over this or he will be out of the building. When a foreign player comes into the club playing football should be the easy part of their change in circumstances

Doogz

Sterling has been incapable of playing 5 or 6 games in a row since he signed due to one injury after another

Rose Mcloughlin

My friend and I finally managed to get back to Ibrox after being ill for so long...the subway crush slightly quieter than before....coming out on to copland road...saying hi to staff going in..but best of all reaching our Rangers family hugs all round..I sat with this beaming smile enjoying every kick off the ball..the union bears drumming it out...and pleased to get a win..pure magic..no doubt I will get back to normal in a few games but today was brilliant..

ali t

Not papering over cracks as we all see them and nobody is denying them. We need to get any physicality we can into the team, Igamane is not ready and unless someone goes on a scoring run we won't put teams away. Hopefully we survive Wed nights test and start to build but still seem so fragile. Thought wed pulled a rabbit out hat getting Propper but looks like another lightweight CH from europe.

Alastair Thomson Mills

If we lose to the Aberdeen. We will be 9 points behind both them and Celtic (if Celtic beat Dundee) after 10 games. League over? I bet Philip Clement will escape the sack by telling what’s left of the board it’s all because the players are all so new and just in the building. I hope with all my heart that we beat them but I just feel that Clemeht has built a squad for European football and not Scottish football.

Doug Young

Very very tired of the "players just in the door" narrative- how come it's not a problem at the likes of Aberdeen?
