Two Competitions, Two Different Sides

Simon is joined by Laura and Zander to discuss the weekends win over Hearts as well as looking back at the Europa League match in Athens.

The guys discuss  how the team can seemingly perform in Europe, yet struggle domestically.

Don't forget to leave your player of the week in the comments.

Greg

The slow death continues, can't remember being so bored watching rangers.

Rona Bluebell

We need Scottish success. Europe is the cherry on top when we don’t have any icing or even a cake. Hurrah to Laura doing the maths 👏🏻

Rona Bluebell

Oh and I’m calling it here. McInnes post match about Celtic, that’s a pitch. I’d get him now.

Dale Renton

Laura is spot on re Tav.

Douglas Innes

Our European form reminds me of players " performing " because it's a bigger stage , play 90-95% on sunday because the attention is on Thursday then give that game 110% and can't get to that level again on the Sunday...... plus teams in Europe have qualified by last seasons league position so are hardly going to change much and european teams tend to attack and leave space

Graeme Edwards

If we don’t play Kasanwirjo he won’t want to stay. I agree with the guys he’s looked decent from the small showing but we need to give him a run to see if A: we want to keep him & B: he would want to stay

Porky

Laura your 100% correct on Dessers, im sick of him and THAT interview just summed him up.

Stigger

Great pod again 👍

Jim Milne

Last 10 games nder Gio, last 8 games under Beale and last 20 games under Clement. It's a cycle we've been in on and off since Seville.

Jim Milne

Really enjoy the format of this pod. Regarding the fans booing Barron's substitution. It's not just that he took Barron off it's that he uses different standards when making calls. I fully understand he doesn't want to burn players out, and yes our injuries have improved significantly on the past few years, but if he uses that standard for Barron he should be using it for the whole team. December is going to be a long month. You could almost repost this pod in 2 weeks, and just change the name of the Thursday and Sunday teams.

George Wells

Laura bang on about Tavernier, I don’t know how the two boys thought he was ok. Apart from his hand in the goal, practically thereafter from him was a shambles. All down to the manager who shouldn’t have started him.

Hendi

He uses "different standards" because football players are individuals. What one person needs will differ from another's. You, me and the podders have no idea what sort of data is being used to inform decisions around how long players are capable of playing.

Jim Milne

He uses "different standards" as in the way he justifies his starting 11 and subs. Of course players are individual and are treated individually as per fitness, injuries, etc. but the point still stands that he plays players shit out of form ahead of others who play better when selected, and it only applies to certain players. His decisions when selecting and justifying certain players is at odds with how he treats other players. I don't need to see data from a vest to show me what I can see with my own eyes, and what I hear from his interviews.

Hendi

Aye let's restore our high standards by.....appointing someone who got binned by Aberdeen. That'll do it.

Neil Elder

I was quite surprised to hear the lads say Tav was okay, totally appreciate it’s a matter of opinion, that’s how it should be, but I have to agree with Laura, he was no better yesterday than he’s been all season. I absolutely don’t want Tav’s Rangers career to end with the whole support turning against him, but, the reality is, the more he plays, and the more he turns in poor, below par displays, that’s what will happen. I don’t have a definitive answer, but for his own sake, the teams sake, he needs taken out of the firing line.

Lindsay Bell

Tav is not a 1st choice pick anymore - he's one of 3 RBs being rotated - one of which is our CB cover and one of which is our DM cover because our squad building is a bin fire. The cup final will be the test of that. We looked shattered after 20 minutes but complain when he rests players like Barron who has run more than anyone and played much more than Raskin. No player wants to come off, that's why you need a strong manager who uses all data available to him. Dessers is awful but there is no alternative so we have to go again with him and hope Danilo eventually gets fit.

David Baillie

Everything Laura said regarding Tav and Dessers is spot on. My concern is that the manager, having seen 3 months of Dessers thought he was good enough to lead the Rangers attack and didn’t sign a striker in January. Opting to spaff a small fortune on Silva. That’s concerning.

William Alston

I get the point about getting Danilo fit etc but let's be honest tav and dessers are starting the cup final will be astounded if they don't

Robbie McCarroll

Great pod. Need to start preparing for the final now every team selection should have that in mind. Need to get more pace up front and get Sterling starting most games at RB

Iain Mitchell

Really glad Laura called out the Tav performance, was in disbelief the guys thought he had a good game initially.

Graeme Homer

You claim the manager is treating fans like their stupid, some are stupid, some are blinded by their hatred and some just have a comfort blanket and blame the same players time and time again despite others being worse. Barron was rotten on Sunday, other than running around and completing all his passes that were within a few yards he did nothing to contribute. Tav was shocking and yet did more to drive the team forward and we all want him gone and he gets all the stick while the current golden boys are placed on the pedestal! Yet we wonder why we struggle!!! Then it’s injuries week in week out moaning about the amount, Clement tries to protect us and the players from them and yet the hypocrisy is out in full force. Ffs what do we run them into the ground or rotate and protect? It’s one of the other pick a side and stay there!

Spoon

If Danilo was fit and able to play and Dessers was as abject as made out why isn’t he being played ? Personally I doubt we see the guy play any extended spell and I’m sick of getting half a contract out a guy. Theres far more about the team that annoys me than Dessers, he must be a podders dream.
