John Souttar, Born to be Captain 😎 Knew you’d come round David 🥳

stephen

Souttar's first open head wound should announce him as club captain.

Andy McG

Souttar has been in fine form recently would be in the running for captain.

Andrew Ewing

Can we please park the John Souttar love in until 5:30pm on 2nd Jan 2025? Happy to pen a song in his honour after then but there are 1 or 2 tricky upcoming fixtures first. Same for Clement.

Heart and Hand

They do well they get praise, they do badly they get criticism. Giving one doesn't preclude you from giving the other. Opinions change as circumstances do.

Hendi

Biggest difference for Souttar this season is Goldson not being there and getting to play on the right hand side now. He was a bombscare on the left.

Heart and Hand

Interestingly Chelsea played Badashile on the right yesterday (left-footed) and he was lost too. It just looks so unnatural for them.

Hendi

Aye just changes everything in terms of the angles of attack, what foot your able to use to tackle and your distribution options.

Broono

I keep replaying the 1st goal yesterday looking for some wicked deflection..I only see a "Pele Bender" clean strike looping into the net up by the Dingwall railway station. Old Tav the master bent in a peach later in the game, cant teach an old dog new tricks WATP

Craig

Right footed centre back on the left side - not ideal, but perfectly normal. Left footed centre back on the right side - unnatural, sickening, what's wrong with you? I don't make the rules.

Derek Robertson

If we beat Spurs it will be one of our best results ever.

Derek Robertson

Woman's football is terrible. I know it's not PC to say that but it's the truth

David Campbell

Another big week in the life of Rangers. Looking forward to it but also a realist. We will need to perform above our levels to get 2 big results.

William Noble

It’s a pity Danilo and Hagi are not in the European squad

William Noble

Iganame showing the potential of being the real deal

Stephen

To be fair when people started taking men’s football seriously about 130 odd years ago I bet that was pretty terrible too. Current Scottish men’s football ain’t exactly great either😂

Rob Whiteford

Thought you said he was president of NASA

Damien Stubbs

Again. All he needs to say is “it’s another win that we should’ve won” end of. Starting sprouting off when you’ve delivered something.

DRKMN

Hi David. DU admin suggestion. A timestamped post would be great for those like me that have already caught the interviews etc on YouTube. I always skip those bits but end up missing other stuff cos I don't know where they end. 👍

DRKMN

Fuck sake, just a suggestion mate, I'm not complaining. The guy's started doing it on the Preview show so that folk can skip past the previous game recap etc. Timestamped episodes of podcasts are fairly common. Never mind then...

David Mackie

Just a point of info David re Womans cup game you mentioned score of Arbroath beating Shotts Bon Accord 36 . 0 Well it was NOT in fact Shotts Bon Accord it was a team from Aberdeen called Bon Accord FC ... Some good blue noses follow the Shotts Bonny so just protecting there image mate, 🤣

Colin Kennedy

Imagine we got a partner for Souttar, left footed, like a 26 yr old version of Liam Balogun! Our team needs surgery, but maybe it isn’t as broken as we all think.

Colin Kennedy

Aye, massive believer a left footed CB makes our play more expansive and just makes the ball transition side to side a bit slicker. Hellander wasn’t the best with the ball, but the fact he could naturally play and defend runners with his left, I thought really helped. It’s on the Christmas list!

Allan

Does the manager talk too much? I'm not sure his comments were meant in the way it came across either. You're probably right David, he thinks he's making us underdogs and backs to the wall to build that player mentality to perform to win. But it's also, not untrue that the scum mob are miles ahead of financially and much of it is due to our own mistakes on and off the field of play. It's just a bad look for the manager. I'm still listening to my heart for the next two games. Rangers win both!

Allan

Agree with you. Don't think Propper is the answer. I'd also keep Big Leon on another year's extension. He's still capable of giving two main CBs a game's rest here and there and his off-field influence seems to be important too.

G Calder

If we did - i wonder if the fans who seemed disappointed we beat Nice ‘because it papers over the cracks’ will say that again ?

Moody Marco

You could also argue it’s mind games and putting pressure on Celtic/Rodgers

Moody Marco

John Souttar changing everyone’s minds till he has 1 bad game then the very same people will want rid of him again

Allan

I truly believe that's likely too in his mind. Sometimes his meaning is lost in his language. I'm sticking with my heart. Rangers win both and as a wee bonus, Fat Ange is fired.

Jim Milne

Actually for this week, and only this week I'm glad they're not. In fact I'd rather be plays Dessers against Spurs and saves Igamane for Sunday.

Jim Milne

I remember Craig Moore was the biggest bomb scare going until Advocaat played him in his natural position. Some players can adapt and some can't. I didn't see Souttar becoming what he has, but I did think he was unfairly selected for that position last season. I've always thought Ross Wilson only signed him because he expected Goldson to leave

Granters

Do you honestly think anyone at Celtic feels any pressure from what Clement said? It’s bizarre. One of the most noticeable differences when Clement came in was how much more disciplined he was with what he said to the press compared to Beale. Clement seems to have let that slide.

Allan

He's under pressure and reacting to it. There's no way that mob are affected by what he says. They know exactly how to play us and what the probable outcome will be. I just hope the manager and our boys show some fight for change. We must be due a win.

Graham Jones

He has to be more guarded with his comments, and keep his assessments in his head more. He isn;t the first to say something we didn’t like, even if there is an underlying honesty about the situation. Maybe it’s reverse psychology or something, but I tend to think he is trying to play the underdog so his players stay relaxed about the games. This lot don’t play well when they tense up too much. They don’t have the experience behind them that they can lean on yet, so he is using what he has to change perceptions before the game. I do remember years ago Martin O’Neil said similar things before facing us and they trounced us off the park that day, so it could be just for the players benefit, but he shouldn’t have said it, because it went down like a lead ballon.

James Kennedy

9:12 I couldn't care less* C'mon Edgar
