As we played Celtic only a few weeks ago there’s not much more the lads can say about them, so please use the comments for any questions you have.

It is unlikely that we will get rid of everyone and we will need to salvage what’s in the squad, January is notoriously a difficult window, if you could choose 3 players and 3 players only to move on in January where we could buy a replacement for that position , what 3 players are you shopping out the door

John Smith

Hi guys 👋 If you were to get the managers job, which parts of the team take highest priority in terms of fixing and do you think we will ever get back to signing the best of young Scottish talent ? Lennon Miller and Lyall Cameron are obvious ones but I reckon James Wilson should be firmly on our radar. Have a great 2025 🥳

Ross

Would you guys bring in a permanent manager once Phillipe probably does go or would you bring in a temporary manager till the end of the season like a big Eck type

G87

Can you remind us again why we follow this team 😆

Martin Sutherland

Do you think the club have given PC contractual promises about this job this season? It doesn’t make sense otherwise. If I was Patrick Stewart I’d have been banking the easiest win ever when I walked through the door. He will now get negative treatment if he remains in the role and it may not be his fault. Some transparency required.

Steven L

Is it more that the rangers 2nd string isn’t good enough? And I don’t understand the Tav bashing never have, is it poor squad building and not the right backs fault? Thursdays game will be what it is.

Mark Davidson

Honestly guys I feel the rebuild needed to compete with them again is 2016 levels we are so far behind. Convince me otherwise? Also to sit where we currently are from where we were with Gerard winning the league has to be one of the worst examples of miss management at the highest levels of a football club. I know we've a new chairman and CEO but are they really going to turn around this shitshow within 6 months ready for the new season?

Stuart Sheils

Can we bring back Alex’s sunny disposition to tell us it’s not all shite 😂 Since money is so tight- Which soon to be out of contract Scottish based players would you take (assuming they want to come on acceptable deals). I believe Danny Armstrong, shankland, Jamie McGrath (suspect he may not be interested!) and Lyall Cameron are all out of contract at the end of the season (there may be others)?

Dylan Brand

With recent results, it’s seems like it’s more likely that Clement will not see out the season. What type of calibre would the preview team like to see? For me personally, a manager that looks to play attacking and expansive football as oppose to the dull pragmatic approach that we have been used to for the past few seasons. It may come at the expense of European results but personally would trade that in order to be successful domestically.

Rob Whiteford

David and team, I’m reticent to ask this but here goes. What do you think will be achieved by sacking Ckement? Firstly this approach hasn’t worked in the past. Secondly we go on about patience and we don’t mean it. We saw what was available. Frank Lampard? No thanks. I suggest we stick with Clement who has an ok track record . He has had all sorts of nonsense to deal with. And honestly what do we have to lose now? I saw a poll over on “Glasgow Rangers Nation” and expected it to be 95/5 wanting him gone. It was 68/32. Should we not give the guy another year ? Not every manager can be a dud.

Graeme Burns

1. Gerrard is sacked after losing at home to Hamilton on 4th March 2020 - what happens next? 2. Are Rangers outcomes better or worse if UEFA standard referees (foreign) officiate all domestic matches, or is there no change? 3. Roofes goal vs Celtic on 3rd September 2023 is not disallowed and Rangers win the match - what happens next with Beale and his band of signings, and also across the city? 4. Kent’s shot evades Kevin Trapp and we go 2-1 ahead in the 118’ vs Frankfurt. What happens from there?

GlasgowBear

Suffice to say our recruitment has been pretty abysmal over the years. A common complaint is that we overpay for a “European” profile that simply doesn’t work, and we need to sign Scottish/British players that “get it”. But I’d argue that we’ve signed just as many duds from the British leagues as well. Our rivals across the city seem to successfully recruit from Britain, Europe and (notoriously) Asia. It’s clearly not the market that’s the problem. So what is it? Money? Lack of clear plan? Something is seriously wrong somewhere meaning that we just haven’t gotten this right at all.

Andrew David Ferguson

This cheap imitation of Rangers has to stop. I hold the board to account for all this. They offered the new contract to Clement. Who since last March has been in freefall. We must sack Clement and bring in someone who can succed in Scotland. We have lost our Rangers/Scottish identity.

Blue Ninja

Merry Xmas lads and thanks for so many awesome pods in 24 when lets face it, our club was a total and complete disaster other than Europe. So a few question - With so many fans against Clement (interested to know what percentage of fans you believe this to be?) do you think the board will actually pull the trigger and if so should it be interim or all out for a full timer. How many more deluded statements from Clement can the fans take when we can see things so obviously with our own eyes. Lastly have any of you tried to tell David your sports science guy says you can only do a half a pod to get some time out? If not why not?

David Innes

1) Will Clement still be our manager on 1st February? 2) If he goes should we appoint caretaker until the end of the season rather than rushing into a permanent appointment ? If so, who should it be? 3) Does our next permanent manager need to have experience and a track record of relative success in British football?

David_Davy_Dave

To win the league under our current 38 game format you need 93 points (only Celtic in 02/03 when we beat them on goal difference have failed to win with 93 points) That equates to 21 dropped points. For arguments sake that is 2 losses at Parkhead but beating them in both home games and then 3 losses and 3 draws on the road So here’s my question, has anyone at Ibrox sat the manager down and explained that? Does he understand what is needed to win a title? I don’t think he does, not remotely. I think he is a good cup manager but there is no point resting players and getting your planning right to peak at home v Celtic if you’ve dropped 5 points in the prior 2 games. I’ll always take a win v them but it’ll be little cause for celebration

Pondo Sinatra

Can you lads please explain to me why Rabbi Matondo always has a “whit ma like” smile on his face when he’s ballooned/skied another shot into the stands? I don’t find it funny at all.

Scott Tolmie

Can we scrap our youth system as it a complete and utter waste of money?

Corpse Reviver

Does anyone know how much it will cost us to get rid of this cunt

Corpse Reviver

Can anyone rationalise the batshit fucking mental decision to extend Clement's fucking contract?

Gordon Smith

I'm going to he very greedy and ask three questions in the hope one can get through. Ironically one about the last rangers and Celtic game. 1. Rodgers tactical tweaks at half time in the cup final, bringing on a defender better on the ball and tucking the full backs in to draw our press further forward led to a big turn around in their fortunes and got them two goals in front. What I didn't notice was if we did any tweaks of our own to get the two goals and fight back into the game or was it just moments and grit? If it's just moments I think we're in trouble on the 2nd. 2. Clement said in his last press conference there has been an evolution. Can we be objective and take the shite results and pick out any trends that back this up? 3. My main arguments I have with other supporters is around this idea this is a rebuild and invoking sir Alex Ferguson and Gerrard's gradual progression. What does our rebuild look like? Just looks like cost cutting and scrambling for anyone available to me. I wasn't at Neil's Kloppens speech at the AGM so who exactly are we targeting? If there was a player that was a bargain with potential but wasn't cut out for the spfl(ridvan, proper, matondo) would we buy him or are we evolving to buy a profile of player that wins the league ?

Jason Allan

Are we paying the price for sacking GVB too soon in 2022? As board decided to give Beale good sums to sign attackers, which have now caused us huge financial losses and even worse terrible players.

ali t

Is Clement not trusting certainly players enough to know they are fine to play.....or trusting those he brings in too much (as there not up to delivering what he thinks they can)

Gordon Mac

Any preference who you want as the new manager? Moyes for me, if that's remotely possible

Derek MacMillan

I can't put my finger on it but how have the wheels came off so badly since March 2024? We went from amazing form in the league to this inconsistent mess. Appreciate that we downsized in the Summer on wages but the drop has been way bigger than anyone would have thought. Celtics form this year hasn't helped the situation either, mind you.

Martyn Dick

Probably been raised before, but this team is becoming more and more a mirror image of its leadership on and off the pitch. Tav has been a great servant but is now an inconsistent moments player - and the team now reflects that entirely. Question is - how do we change that, and who in the current squad has shown leadership qualities? I’d suggest Raskin and possibly Cerny (loan player) - anyone else?

Ryan Jardine

Probably laughing at the fact he’s still here making £20k+ but only been available for 10-15% of games since he been here. Another Ross Wilson disasterclass.

chris smith

You cant compete in Scottish fitba without at leadt one, probably two, big hairy bassa centre halfs. Discuss.

Stewart Robertson

We have our part to play on Thursday. How do we get our Battle Fever on ?

David_Davy_Dave

Don’t ask don’t get Gordon I’d also add I think if we did speak with him then you offer him the choice of starting now or us putting an interim in place til he takes over in the summer. His choice

Tamus

Is the manager purposely working his ticket?

Gordon Mac

Would not be against an interim, if it means we are bringing in the correct man in the summer

Stace1ofthePeople

Is a takeover, investment possible. If so, how would it work and how would it benefit us?

Douglas Innes

I get a feeling the support is turning on Butland , McGregor was great at turning defeats into draws and draws into wins my question is " Has Butland the quality to do the same ? and where is the evidence ? "

Stewart Robertson

Is it true that Davie Moyes was a boyhood Rangers fan ? (Asking for a friend)

Eric Brownlie

Hi gents - thanks again for all the great preview pods this year. Might seem a daft question but does the profile of player we need to recruit need to be different to perform well at a lot of away grounds in our league with tight pitches and poor surfaces? Also, why do our last 3 managers seem unable to recognise that we need players middle to front with more pace, athleticism, better decision making and a bigger goal threat?

Scott Watson

3.1) what does relative success in British football (that we could realistically get) actually look like?

Scott Watson

I think there's whole pods in this Stevie's usual meticulous preparation mixed with Strider's flare for "consider if..." and Kev's knack for entertaining and concise summaries would produce hours of content and the merciful departure into an alternate reality

Scott Watson

The Scottish football contradiction The prevailing wisdom is that technical players with limited physicality cannot thrive in Scotland even though they might perform well in better leagues The objective reality is that most Scottish teams (including the best resourced and recently successful one) get routinely humiliated in Europe by teams with a whiff of technical ability, even with lesser resources. The Scottish physicality doesn't seem to matter in these games How can both these things be true? Is it really all about the officiating? If so, does it need to be our focus with every waking breath to shine a harsh spotlight on officiating until it's embarrassed into improving?

Gordon Masterton

I listen to a Seahawks NFL podcast called What If that uses this format for shows during the close season makes a good show

Gordon Masterton

What do you think our recruitment model should look like? For me is has to be more like Brentford, Bournemouth where recruitment is against certain styles and characteristics and less influenced by the actual manager. Basically we dictate the style of play and the types of players we will recruit the managers job is to get the best out them on the park. We've seen what happens when Managers from Gerrard onwards are given more say in transfers and it's really cost us as each of the last 3 managers have wanted different profiles in each role. Not naive enough to assume the Manager has no say but think the recruitment model has to serve the club not the first team coach.

David Innes

Possibly someone who has got a team promoted from the Championship to the EPL or a someone who has a track record of consistently over achieving by making a team greater than the sum of its parts?

Stuart Sheils

I will die on the hill that had VAR been introduced in 21/22 we would have won the league, then everything would have been different- automatic UCL entry, buying players like veerman, maybe ange out on his arse etc. Some examples- -Sakala non penalty vs Dundee Utd -They should have conceded 2 pens against Dundee Utd that season -I’m sure there was a dubious OF goal for them. There were a few others but my memory isn’t what it was!

Graeme Burns

I like your logic - it takes the emotion out of the odd bad result and prevents incessant destructive comparison with them

William Hughes

What's the chances of us getting a 50/50 decision on Thursday? Dubious penalty? Or imagine even just refereed fairly?

Iain Macdonald

If koppen was to find a replacement RB, CD, LW and a striker to add in January of the same levels we have seen with jefte, igmane and cerny. Do you think that would be a 1st team capable of a sustained run of results till end of season and be a platform to build on? Or is clements set up and playing style, like so many managers before him not suited to the Scottish game?

Jim Milne

I don't think we can bring in 4 positions in a January window, and if we could it would probably be selling Ridvan, Igamane or both. I don't know that I want Clement spending anymore money. Although I suspect he is here for the season.

Jim Milne

Team is low on confidence, and any player who makes a mistake is being targetted. Unfortunately it's where we are. I do think Butland needs find his form and fast. Starting Thursday.

Jim Milne

Firstly happy new year gents. It's really the hope that kills you. From believing we had a chance to close the gap to 6pts to now heaven forbid it grows to 17pts. Do you think Clement will go with the team that started the LCF assuming Balogun makes it? Think there is any chance we get a CB in on January 1st ala Silva from nowhere last year?

Roy Gemmell

Happy new year lads and thanks for all the work on the shows throughout 2024. I have had the luxury of Rangers success and our dominance, my kids have seen the opposite. My question is whether you see an end to our plight, personally I think there is no short term fix and we might be no where near the light at the end of the tunnel. Financially we are a mess and compared to them it will take at least 5 years to get the books even. We are facing another 10 in a row run from them and without investment how do we stop it?

Ross Stirling

How do we break the cycle of having decent spells followed by catastrophic levels of collapses? Is it a culture thing? Because it's now not just caused by the old guard. It's been with different managers, players, coaching staff. It just seems like, and I get its an extreme analogy, but there's a cancer at the core of the club and we just cannot seem to get rid of it

Andrew Lees

The Malmo game...always feel bad that our ball boy or girl didn't follow Archie Knox 1990 instructions and inadvertently gave the Swedes the opportunity to take a quick throw in leading to their goal

Rob Whiteford

Bookies favourite - Russell Martin! The sacked Southampton manager who was honking at Rangers. Be careful what you wish for.

Andy

If we go ahead and sack Clement, who do we go for to replace him? The managerial role queue is full of great philosophies and projects. We need someone who understands Scottish football and the unique challenge of leading our club. Gerrard had a presence and an aura, and was able to demand standards. We’ve not had that since he left.
