Was going to give the pod a listen but I noticed the the comment about Berwick and Hamilton so if that’s the tone I’ll not bother.

John Smith

Great to hear from Eddie

Eddie McDonald

Absolute pleasure to be involved guys, thoroughly enjoyed it and cant wait for tomorrow!!

Bob MacCallum

Imagine if Gers had signed Law in the early 60s. He'd have had Baxter and MacMillan in midfield and wingers Henderson and Wilson to set up chances with the great Jimmy Millar helping him up front. What a team that would have been and, even without Law, it was the best Gers team I've ever seen.

Neil Heron

Well said Eddie - Rangers to win but Fraserburgh to get a goal. Massive day for Fraserburgh for players, the club and the fans!

Douglas Alexander Pate

So if we were to win every game 5 or 6 nil, potentially win league, win Scottish cup and europa league, I for one would be wanting him to stay.

John Buchan

Billy Jolly shit happens Nobody has a right to win

JM

High level of moaning, feeling sorry for themselves and fighting old battles on this pod. Give the new CEO and the manager under a real CEO a chance for redemption and open your minds a little bit.

JM

Correct - podders with closed minds who won’t admit they can change their minds.

David Innes

The game is on BBC not Premier Sports

David Innes

If he wins the Scottish Cup (assuming the means beating Celtic on the way) I think he’ll be staying and I think the majority of fans would want him to under those circumstances

Scott Watson

The comment about even winning every game left in the season not mattering is a little bit silly - that'd be a european trophy, direct champions league entry, a massive pot of cash, a club record winning run, 3/4 wins over celtic in a row and the best away league run in our history Any manager capable of doing that is probably going to be poached from us, but we would certainly want to keep There's obviously some exaggeration in the comment - but the point of the question is surely to get to what IS the minimum that indicates real confidence that we are on track Is winning the scottish cup by itself enough? Probably not. Although if we do beat celtic in a game with silverware (directly) on the line, that should be meaningful - we can't say that failing to beat them when it matters is a negative and then not recognise that beating them when it matters is positive but if we do that and keep getting <50% of away points for the rest of the season, is that enough? I don't think so - you can't win a league like that, and if you've got a whole season (and a bit of last season) of sample size, you'd need something really compelling to suggest there was reason to see improvement coming If we win the scottish cup (with an old firm win on the way), take more points than them out of the remaining league old firm games, take more points than them out of the rest of the league season, and our away form improves to something like 80% of points, would that be enough? I think I'd say that would be enough to give us confidence - we'd still be miles behind in the final league table but we'd have momentum and have shown a good period of performance Do I think that's likely to happen? Important to underline that's a completely separate question but if I'm making a bet, then no, I don't - the evidence to this point simply doesn't support that big a swing but I would absolutely love to be wrong and I do think it's worth finding out

Kevin Richmond

I'm glad you mentioned the bongos, I think about this every week but didn't want to say anything haha

David_Davy_Dave

Re Clement, he doesn’t look like the man to win us the league next season. Little he can do over the rest of this season change that, not winning the cup, or success in Europe and arguably not even improving the away form given they now get to play with no pressure I think we will shake hands and move on at the end of the season. A good manager but not the manager we need to win the league

Billy Jolly

Exactly as we have witnessed recently, it was the overall tone of the pod not the actual results I was referring to.👍

John Buchan

Heart & Hands Highlands correspondent I am a member of the DSL to most of the members I dismay I am Peterhead born and bred 😂

Gordon Smith

Assuming Iain doesn't mean winning the Europa league if he does win the rest of his games comfortably that would tell me he's got more to grips with the Scottish league and that would be enough to give him next season.

Rona Bluebell

Thank you for the piece on Dennis Law. I didn’t know he had a soft spot for us. 💙

Scott Watson

The point on pressure is interesting I think it's certainly fair to say there's little pressure on the results for the players since the league is out of reach - but there's plenty of pressure on Clement So if we did win all those games and we think that's due to lack of pressure - is that on Clement or is it on the players? Or given that we've seen the same cycle of upturns of form and collapses when it starts to look like we're in contention across multiple managers and changing groups of players, is it even deeper than that and back to the underlying club structure and culture that Patrick Stewart was suggesting was the root cause of many of our problems

Scott Watson

Excellent pod gentlemen, thank you very much Feels quite strange being able to look forward to a game without having the fear, although just thinking that is giving me the fear... Excellent cameo Eddie, really enjoyed getting your perspective Stevie, I say this every time we play a lower league team but it's still true - I'm even more impressed with your attention to detail for teams like this than usual, and that's a high bar to start with. I also quite enjoy the bongos 😂 Really grateful for the intro on Dennis Law too, that was really intereting

Scott Watson

I don't want to go in too hard on the european element - I am sure there was some exaggeration for dramatic effect But even on the domestic level and even in the best of seasons, it's rare to get winning runs anywhere like as long as from now until the end of the season - that'd be 21 games. That'd be far longer than our best winning run during 55 for instance - that was something like 15 in the league, (but there was a league cup loss in the middle so not sure it was much more than 10 overall). I don't think you could dismiss that and again, I think it's a pretty safe bet that's not going to happen - but that's the point of the question, what *is* the tipping point where we think "hang on, there might be something here"

David Ross

Correct mate, this will be my last preview show for a while I think. It’s a show I’ve really enjoyed but it needs a bit of balance. I miss Alex Staff for this. All the best boys

John Smith

That’s real Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 My dads mums side are all from Fochabers

Kev Armstrong

Sorry you feel that way but podders always only say what they feel. If anyone would like to come on to offer a different POV the door is always open.

Chris Wight

A great pod as always gents, fantastic to hear such great detail about an opposition playing at that level so hats off to Stevie. I tend to oppose the views Iain has regarding the remainder of the season. To say that “Clement could win every game, in every competition, from now until the end of the season…and it won’t persuade people he’s the right man for the job” is, in my opinion, ridiculous. The board will evaluate his position at the end of the season as they should. Neither the CEO nor the Chairman should have made their mind up by now. Let’s say what you have said above is true and we win every game in the league, win the cup, and reach the latter stages of the Europa League. Are people seriously going to be asking for him to get sacked when the team have that kind of momentum? In my opinion that’s a ludicrous outlook and will only serve to set us further behind our rivals.
