I'd love to see us go 3,5,2 but wont happen as no time to train on it butnin mean time id like to see a more compact middle 3 to control the MF.....dump this 10 nonsense, play Cerny on the left to try get behind the Killie defence, Mccausland or Curtis on the right....Igamane thought the middle.....

The fans were clamouring for a statement, including H & H, so Stewart was caught between a rock and a hard place. I hope Ferguson et al give a decent account in Europe because if they don’t we may as well have stuck with Clement. Stunned by the BF appointment but it is what it is.

More cold hard facts from Steven. Clement was miles out of his depth

John Smith

For the first time since Steven Gerrard, I’m genuinely buzzing about our new manager. Barry will bring one thing to the dugout that’s been missing for years now, passion

John Hood

Think we might potentially be about to find out what being 'miles out of depth' really means. Hope I'm wrong!

Simon H&H

I think we are likely to see an upturn, purely due to us moving away from a negative playing style. There’ll be bumps in roads left this season, but Clement had to go

David Wylie

I might be wrong but I don't remember Clement blowing a substantial lead, plus he took over from Michael Beale. I remember us going top and it not lasting long. Not defending his domestic performance and I am happy he's gone.

James McSween

I think it looks obvious that Clement didn’t let any of his backroom team have any input. From what’s been heard Clement isn’t a shouter and is very calm and discusses results/performances a few days after the games. So there’s no way Alex Rae would be able to say or do anything.

Graeme McLeod

There's absolutely no way we should have stuck with Clement. If the only difference with this team is Rice and Curtis getting minutes over Lawrence, we're at least giving players who may be here next year a chance. Clement wasn't going to do that. Youngsters only got minutes when he had no other option or when it seemed like a free hit - otherwise the likes of Lawrence and Dowell before him played.

What's your favourite dinosaur Stevie?

Thanks gents. Stunned by yesterday’s events and sure it was destined to fail, but talking it through today starting to think more positively. As a support we need to get behind the guys who’ve delivered on the park for us in the past and see where it takes us. We wanted PC out, we’ve got that. We knew this was short term till the new regime arrives to take us in their chosen direction. That’s what this. Sure they’ll be much more positive in style and demand much more in commitment and desire from these pampered under performers. Think that’ll do for me for now.

In fairness we were 2 points ahead last Feb. Not quite substantial.

Clement was not only the wrong manager for us he demonstrates the flawed thinking the board have had around foreign is automatically better. We must stop buying into a fantastical vision that is unachievable in the domestic game. A handful of European wins, no matter how satisfying, is miles off enough for a successful Rangers manager. Clement did not get Rangers. I confess to being in a rut with Rangers. Disgusted by the shambolic board and watching ‘too businessmen’ run us into crisis after crises off field. Bored watching overpaid underperforming exotic players come in while we ignored cheaper arguably better options locally as we had a vision manager and board obsessed with scouting on a laptop rather than watching guys in the flesh. I don’t like Fergusons off field work since retiring. I find some of the company he keeps questionable and I’m not sure he is really qualified to coach a top Scottish side based on his career to date. Ferguson is one of the most iconic Rangers players of the modern era, a guy who is steeped in the club and has literally driven teams he led to wins and trophies by force of will and a proper captains inspiration. Ferguson as a footballer epitomised Rangers in a period of sustained success and is probably under rated simply due to how the power shift and the rise of the EPL let Scotland drift off from the top tier year on year. I would never have picked Ferguson to come in, until I saw and heard him speak after getting the job. It’s not logical, I have no argument to make, there is nothing I can point to that justifies him or the gang he has managed to assemble being given the reigns. He just is a guy who most can relate to, seeing him with the badge again felt right. He said basic Barry things that made sense, didn’t seem excuses and sounded like things we as fans have been saying to each other. The there is the genuine passion and understanding that you just can’t get through badges. It’s there in spades. I have forgiven Barry for ‘turning’ against us in the media. I don’t care about his level of management to date, I just want to tune in tomorrow and see him, McCann and McGregor in the box running the team knowing that if they fail it’s not because they are dogmatic, deluded or lack the ability to work out Scottish football. These guys might not get results but they won’t accept or excuse failings they will own them. These guys might season could have petered out. The games could have been meaningless, that won’t be allowed to happen now. I still don’t subscribe to Clement being hamstrung or sold a pup. He survived because of the lack of scrutiny and intrusive management above, the lack of CEO or DOF allowed him to get off with it it didn’t hamper him. With the squad and resources he had he vastly underperformed. I’m excited again. If it’s this group for a few months then a new direction so be it. I can watch the games again with interest, I hope to see a set up that works domestically. I want to see guys who have been, in my mind, hung out to dry out of position, badly supported by structure or asked to do things they clearly can’t get a chance to play to their potential. I want solidity and attacking intent, I would like some youth injected even if we need to accept it might not quite be at the level required just yet. I’m back in, I’m engaged and I wish Barry and the guys all the best. Ferguson, McCann, Dodds and McGregor resonates with me, it’s comforting even if it’s a fools hope. Bring it on.

I get fan media podders talking about BF the player, understands the club bla bla but as a manager he has done sweet FA, Alloa three years ago, utter farce!

JimGLW

Very kind on the staff Steven. Can't say I agree with your positive view. Dodds has never stopped putting the boot into us.

Glyn Davies

Yeah go more compact....I'd drop Dio for Rice or Fernandes (he can play CDM apparently) as Dio is soft & play one of them beside Nico & have Hagi in there kind of like what Gerrard did with Scotty Arfield

David Innes

Having listened to this podcast and the perspective of a few non-Rangers fans I’m feeling marginally more positive but I’m not going to lie - my gut feeling is that this is going to be similar end to the season as 17/18

Vanb bryceter

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm still not for giving these players a free pass. Hearing about the unrest behind the scenes just makes it more than obvious that we need not a new broom but a complete fucking power flush from top to the very bottom. I'm not for wasting any more emotional energy on these shitebags until we have a proper management structure and a fair few new players. This mob can GTF

David Speedie

Listening to this after the dust has settled a bit on things Bobby Wales, should we going for him in the summer? Out of contract from what I can make out online. I’ve not seen much but what I have seen he’s impressed

QB_72

Good listen as always lads, let's just going again and get some pride back. Aye the season is done and personally I think it was a shrewd move getting some of the auld guard in to try and steady this ship with guys who know the SPL inside out. Onwards and upwards and I tip my hat to the auld guard for stepping in as you say it would have been petty difficult to get someone in at this late stage who would have been willing to go for it.
