This Wednesday sees us head to the side with the worst home record in our league, as we head to Perth to take on St Johnstone.

A win is the minimum requirement as we strive to get back to winning ways.

Must win? No more slip ups next two games are ones we cannot afford to slip up on , 6 points steady the ship

Last time we were 2-0 up at HT and failed to win….Falkirk away in Championship March 2016 (shudders!) lost 3-2🙈🙈

Premier league wise…funnily enough Motherwell! 2-0 HT, finished 3-3. Last game of 2009/10 season. Yes i have too much time on my hands today🙈🙈

The first goal against Motherwell is a great example of the difference between league form an European form. In Europe, against any team, Goldson would not have let that ball go past him... He would have booted it out the park for a corner... against the jobber teams in SPFL he chooses not to... Why?

Hi lads, on the subject of our defensive walking wounded at the moment, we loaned Katic out to H Split for game time with an option to buy him. He has been playing every week now as far as I know and can follow his game time on a football app. Just wondering what your thoughts are on brining him back at the end of the season. As always enjoy your varied individual views on the pod, thanks 👍

Fantastic research, I remember this game well Was living in Canada at the time, we were 2-0 up inside 10 minutes or something. I had to go out and couldn't believe it when I got back. I feel like that was the start (or near it) of a dismal run that season too, we didn't win another game after beating Celtic in the semi-final Better not be an omen of things to come!

Scott Watson

Not entirely sure about that - he didn't boot the ball out for a corner at Dortmund's first goal, tried to recycle possession with the wrong foot and played in Bellingham

Steven Harrigan

My own opinion was that he was never of the level required, a view I held from almost immediately since his arrival.

I get the fear when Stevie gets going in telling us how gash the opposition is, it just makes me think “ffs it will be Sod’s law they turn it around against us” !

I think we've choked where the league is concerned and that is beyond shameful. Europe is different because it is the land of free hits, where our squad thrives on low expectations.

Excellent discussion gentlemen, thank you very much It's clearly a matter of personal taste but quite a lot of the post-match reaction after the weekend has gone well beyond the healthy balance of being critical about things that need to be addressed and staying both reasonable and positive. I've found a lot of it really just unpleasant and unhelpful to listen to. I thought your analysis struck a much better tone Sunday was one of the more baffling ones to me, it was like a switch flipped at half time. In the first half I took particular note that in the 46th minute Bassey sprinted to grab the ball and take a throw in and in the 47th minute Kent closed down a Motherwell defender and jumped in the way of a clearance to put it our for a throw and keep the ball up the pitch. After Dortmund I was specifically looking for signs of mentality from the start of the game and I thought at that moment we looked absolutely first class - our intensity was high and there didn't seem to be any sign of letting up. Then as soon as we came out in the second half, we just seemed to have lost that urgency. As always it was probably a mixture of things but I tend to think Kev has it right and the biggest single factor was that we were just shattered after the last couple of weeks If you look at the games since Celtic, ignoring Annan as a sideshow with 11 changes, Hearts-Hibs-Dortmund-Dundee United-Dortmund-Motherwell - is there a case that those are the best 6 consecutive games of football we have played all season in terms of performance? Results are obviously a different story - two draws out of four is never acceptable in the league. Earlier in the season we were scraping results with some grim performances and we correctly started to say that results are always more important than performances but eventually results will follow performances. Are we possibly now ignoring the same logic in the opposite direction? Our performances, to me, are clearly trending in a positive direction and results will (I hope!) follow

There's no sugar-coating 3 wins in 8 games - clearly it's not good enough and clearly there is something underlying that I am not sure it can be explained entirely by saying we choke under pressure. Steven made the point about us finding a response at half-time against Dortmund and I think it's a very good one - I think all of us went into half time with a strong touch of the fear because things were clearly running away from us. We'd gone from 5-2 up to 5-4 in about 10 minutes and Dortmund were knocking on the door. Not sure that expectations were low going into that game - as fans we would have been gutted if we'd gone out after a 4-2 first leg and the players would be too, and certainly once we were 5-2 up after 120 minutes in the tie there's definitely pressure to win from there. If it was purely that we choke under pressure, I don't see where we would have found that second half
