Damien Stubbs

Bisgrove came as a shock when I was expecting Caroline 😂

Ranger1972

Very funny and appropriate song choice.

Jamie Aitken

The absolute last thing we needed right now. The players, manager, fans and board needed to be aligned for the remainder of such a massive season. Now it’s absolutely fractured. Can’t wait till they start advertising the 150th anniversary game, enticing fans to purchase special memorabilia, whilst secretly setting up a friendly game with the very same people who deny our existence. Right after yesterday’s court case. Scumbags...

Lee

If the money is the same as the league say 2m ball park, I genuinely find it tragic we are cuddling up with them for it. I'm not having that the figures would have been the same for THEM, if we weren't attending

Gazza_Hendo

Completely out of touch with the fans who are the lifeblood of this club..

James Mcgill

Worst thought out idea ever. Needs to be called off ASAP.Also winning the league this season would save all this nonsense

Craig Birnie

Nothing makes this decision ok.

Paul

Do what the English fans did regarding the super League. Protest. Only way to stop it.

Ranger1972

Completely avoiding the elephant in the room of going there and playing second fiddle to the bheggars. No blame on him as he’s doing his job. Needs to be scrapped ASAP.

Damien Stubbs

“The same supporters that are complaining are the same that will expect us to win on the pitch”(I’m paraphrasing slightly as I’m raging) So we have too high expectations on the pitch which is why they signed us up for it 😂😂😂😂😂 fucking unbelievable. So it’s our fault?! Talk about tone deaf. This is the definition. Well done David. Thanks for this.

Lee

Heard him loud & clear, they don't care simply because it's worth X amount. Interesting, I have heard it said when the issues were raised on castore products the attitude was aye but folk are buying it so...

Kris

Aw I've disappointed him, silly me

Steve Stewart

Wow. This is not giving Rangers a competitive advantage if our rivals get the same deal. We should be looking to be leaders, not going together. If we pull out, Celtic don’t get the same revenue.

Jamie Brown

He doesn't get it. He thinks telling us it's worth a few million will make it alright. Get to fuck Bisgrove.

Lee

He didn't understand the disruption question, there is going to be a distraction because the fans are raging

Lee

Agree on the bisgrove point, this isn't all on him. He pushes for commercial revenue & the wider board/directors need to make the decisions.

Alan Colligan

Trying to defend the indefensible

John Smith

Poor from Bisgrove. We’ve become just another money orientated franchise as opposed to a football club. By the way, you know what would really maximise revenue ? WIN THE LEAGUE !!

Andy Smith

The board don’t get it, it’s plain and simple

Gary Mckendry

Hats off to you David, you asked the questions without letting your heart lead your head, I couldn't have held my tongue like yourself. This isn't a good situation we face.

Lynn Houston

NOT GOOD ENOUGH… DIRTY MONEY(and that’s exactly what it is) i will not be party to that. Done being ripped off.

thomas mcewan

We dont need money that badly, get it in the bin,get everyone concerned with this deal should be sacked,no ,ifs ands or butts.

Graeme Burns

“Not offer non-CL teams get” - we’ll get into the clucking CL then - all you need to do is beat those scumbags and you’ll do that by playing to your potential - we’ve been pouring hundreds and thousands of pounds into ibrox for years, followed near and far and backed them to the hilt - for their glory, not to help the scum deflect a paedo court case…

Amanda stewart

Maybe they should have asked the fan clubs over there first if this would be something they would entertain? But they would know the answer to that one.Be funny when the big day comes and there’s not one blue jersey in the stadium apart from our players. To think of all the teams we could have invited to ibrox and filled the stadium 10x over and probably made just as much and preserved some integrity. Skippy comes home with his animals. I think I’d rather be Nuked

Scott Mackay

It's one thing having an old firm friendly which is terrible on its own. But what makes it somewhat worse for me is the "Glasgow derby" "Ange's return" rubbish that the A league Twitter posted in the announcement treating us like an after thought.

Graeme Hanna

"Quantum" - the bottom line is money so is there no offer that they won't refuse? Disgusted by this decision. Cheers Davie.

Derek Quinton

Fair play to him pitching up however he sounded like a bumbling mess who is only half realising now just what a catastrophic decision this is. Bisgrove wouldn’t have been out of place in the Murray regime in bleeding the fans of every penny possible with no regard for us. To me, his and Stewart Robertson’s positions are now untenable as this is one screw up too far.

SteMo

David, I complete agree with what you said post-interview. However, for me, those exact points should’ve been put to Bisgrove in as crystal clear terms as you did afterwards. They deny our legitimacy as a club, they refer to the rivalry as the ‘Glasgow Derby’ (which they and this whole tournament will, other than ourselves) and we’re nothing other than a sideshow for them and the ‘Ange Homecoming’. And it all comes on the day/day after it’s confirmed they’re finally recognised as being liable for the child abuse litigation. It’s a disgraceful decision and no amount of money justifies our involvement in being the support act to that club. For me, that’s what the board need to hear, loud and clear.

Mark

This is going to end up cancelled with him being left looking like a complete fanny.

Jock Paterson

Play a friendly with the sporting wing of a paedophile ring - OK Release an orange away top - bigot!

Tommy

Fair play at least to Bisgrove for fronting up. I maybe don’t have the same depth of feeling as most here but ultimately we need to be generating more commercial revenue, and that’s what is happening (even though it’s leaving a bit of a bad taste). Good questioning David.

Steve Snedden

Any truth in the rumours that it’s going to be called The Rolf Harris Trophy and that Cardinal George Pell will present the cup to the winning team?

Alan Carmichael

Bisgrove and Robertson should resign. Simple

Brian Cairney

The board are absolutely miles off it if they think this is acceptable.

Heart and Hand

That’s what the ‘do you understand why we’re upset’ question was about. I didn’t want to use up the time making speeches.

Charles Thomson

Don't want to hear what he has to say. Unless it's 'we have withdrew from this tainted friendly'

Brian Moore

Very disappointed in what our board have put before the fans. Why not try and organise our own tournament? We have got into bed with our enemy. The same enemy who tried so hard, and continue to put us down. I don’t want to hear about the commercial interest! As there are many other ways and the fans would be onboard. They are selling this as there managers home coming………..my heart hurts. It’s only went and put pressure on the remainder of our 150th celebrations. Huge black mark on the board. PS. WATP

George Higgins

Very disappointed in the decision. Will not cut off my nose to spite my face but will not be spending money Willy nilly going forward. Agree it’s not Bisgrove’s fault and responsibility is higher up the chain. My birthday has been ruined so far hope for a win tonight to lighten the mood. We’ll done for getting Bisgrove on David.

Ewan White

Bisgrove and Gio wheeled out today when the real decision makers and "Rangers fans" like Park and Robertson hide away.

John Hammond

I think it needs to be made clear to him the reasons for the reaction. I don't think he gets it at all. It's the club that we're diving into bed with, the club that hate us and wanted us destroyed or at least crippled beyond recognition. As a marketing guy, doesn't he see the way this tournament has already been framed as Fat Ange's triumphant homecoming, with us cast as the pantomime villains, relegated to a mere sideshow. The narrative is set. They are the main drawcard, we are also-rans. It's embarrassing beyond belief. Couldn't we have made money elsewhere with another 'glamour' friendly. Why did we have to sell our soul for this farce? This was not the only option. It's disingenuous for him to try to frame it that way. By the way, I'm in Australia and I couldn't give a damn about this friendly. Won't go. Won't even watch. I'm disgusted at the club's actions.

David Hanlon

This is the boards Judas moment. They are taking the 30 pieces of silver and saying to the supports fu. I for one will not take this lying down. I have emailed to cancel MyGers and will not be buying anything more from the shop. We are basically going to Australia to help a team who won't even call us by our proper name, don't accept we have 55 titles and now could be in financial difficulty but we are going to help them. I am so unhappy with the club I love.

Graeme Burns

Don’t see why we have to fly to the other side of the planet to play a match just because they’ve been knocked out of Europe early again

Davie Cooper

Nice to know that our club have a monetary value they put on cozying up with an organisation where so much child abuse took place that a class action has been granted. Wonder how much money we'll take for a game in Russia currently as clearly we'll sell our soul to anyone with some cash. Absolutely gutted by this shambles.

Jonathan McLeish

Doesn't sound like there's any serious intention to reconsider. I'm done, MyGers, merch and any other match day purchases will be done outside the ground.

John Hammond

Ridiculous from Bisgrove. As if there's no other possible options for us to make money.

Ross Whitehead

We have sold our soul to the devil with this friendly.

Tommy

From my perspective as an Aussie based bear, I’d be very keen to attend. I’d acknowledge and agree with all the comments against it, but is it enough to refuse to go and watch my team? No it’s not. I feel you can not agree with it but still be there for the team.

Scotty

Thanks for doing that David, it’s easy to feel helpless as a lone supporter. Excellent questions, hopefully it sparks a much needed debate in the boardroom.

James McSween

Custodians of our club aren’t interested in our history or heritage.

Gregor Anderson

Going to go against the grain and say I'm not against the idea of the Tourney. My main gripe is the way it has been promoted. You know all the usual things 'glasgow derby' Ange homecoming etc. Any idea what Bisgroves thoughts were on the promotion so far and how the club appears to be an afterthought? No point in him talking about all these things like image and a world-wide fanbase etc when you would barely know we were appearing from what we have seen. Funny thing is if we win the league and Celtic don't qualify for CL and have a bad start to the campaign Ange might not even be there :)

Calum Stankey

He may as well have just answered each of the (well asked) question with the word "money". Its clear that they couldn't give a flying f**k what the fans feel. This should see the end of Robertson.

AmoRangers

Not arsed about a friendly/exhibition during the off season, especially for the money. I'm arsed about how it's being spun at their manager's "homecoming". Basically we're the ugly sister in this tournament.

Ally

I hope you get an interview with the Parks, Robertson or David Graham to explain how we got to this stage. Bisgrove was only doing his job the others should have known better.

Barry Kerr

Fair play to James Bisgrove for fronting up but he shouldn't have to be doing the explaining it should be someone else from the board not the commercial director.

Jamie Cook

There is no dialogue or debate to be had Bisgrove. You're doing this regardless of fan feeling. The board have absolutely no idea of the depth of feeling amongst fans here. Shattered my faith in him and others. He will never get it.

Craig

If nothing else, would it really have been impossible to include an agreed announcement strategy in the terms of the deal? The tims would probably have leaked it yesterday, but they shouldn't have been allowed to make their announcement before ours. That the club apparently didn't consider that the A League would just market this is a Postecoglu lovefest is so bafflingly amateurish.

Brian Campbell

He should have been pressed on the Communication topic. Maybe could have asked if he felt it was “leaked” as a result of other news that broke in Scotland yesterday. I genuinely shudder - at the hierarchy not seeing this the way we all do. 😖

Lynn Houston

Well done there David. 👏I can see this turning into a real shit show on and off the park.

Paul Kerr

Money, money, money. Sorry but toying with our emotions about strengthening the team after how they've spunked good money on loan fees just a month ago is insulting. The best thing for our club is not being taken for mugs. 'multiple millions' sounds like we're barely scraping £2m out of it. For context it might match the shite TV deal with sky but that's a similar level to a Europa League games ticket sales. I wouldn't be surprised if the next scoop is that the other mob are getting paid more. Thanks David for putting the questions to him, I think you did a good job of letting him know how pissed off you are while trying to be fair. I think we have an easy get out tbh, that announcement yesterday gives us carte blanche to say we won't do it. If we have the balls to say why nobody will fight us, they'll want it to disappear quietly.

Jock Paterson

I thought he’s either not very good with interviews or him, and the rest of them, now know exactly how bad they have misread the situation. His voice was shaking like a shiteing dug!

David Herd

It blows my mind that the board couldn't see the reaction to this coming. Going halfway round the world to be the sideshow to the Big Ange Homecoming Party is utterly sickening. Their club can't even say our name FFS. If the board won't reconsider this, many of us will feel we have no option but to show our displeasure, and stop spending our hard earned money on "extras" like MyGers, merchandise and RTV. If money is all that matters, the Rangers support put a lot more into the club than this Australian fiasco.

Fergie

MyGers renewals are automatically taken this month I think. I have emailed to cancel mine and made it quite clear this is the reason why. Disgusted.

Stephen

I am feeling a bit like this too. They way it is advertised is the main problem. Is it during the World Cup break? Lots of players from both teams won’t be available so it might be a bit of a waste of time in football terms anyway. Just send the b team!

William Alston

The rangers chairman should be out answering questions on this, a shocking situation to be so tone deaf to what the fans want and to allow Celtic to use this as a distraction to their own issues is a PR disaster. Are we back to days of Murray/Bain?

Derek

I'm more angry having listened to this. They're disappointed!?!?

Scott Shields

I think there are 2 problems: 1. The decision in the first place which was covered in interview. 2. How it is being marketed (all about Celtic, Ange homecoming etc). I think he should have been pressed on point 2 also. We are champions of Scotland yet you wouldn’t believe it from the marketing and that’s damaging to our club too.

Rod

The phrase "Legacy Fans" springs to mind listening to that.

Doug Young

Last penny they get from me until it's binned. And it's my birthday shortly. Stuff them.

Craig Sutherland

Fucking waffle from Bisgrove. Some things are more important than money

David_Davy_Dave

No no James, our 150th anniversary is an unparalleled opportunity commercially and as ever the fans have fronted up buying 5 (yes 5!) strips etc Do not patronise us. We understand full well you have done this for commercial reasons and that money goes to the first team. We are not children. It does not matter. Debating it does not achieve anything. Cancel it. You are naïve. You have allowed our club to help them with their greenwashing I will accept Ange at Celtic has created a one time opp here to make money but as others have said the money to be made v playing say Leeds and Fiorentina at home in November can’t be of such a significant delta that this was worth doing?

Neil

I'm not in Australia but I am in another far-away country (the US). Last time I got to see Rangers play was in Sacramento back in 2014. I would absolutely love to go see *this* team play (no offense to Moshni, Black etc) but hypothetically if this tournament were here instead of Oz, there is no way in hell I would go under these circumstances. I think though if the deal is already signed the club might take financial penalties of some kind to withdraw at this stage? Shambles...

David_Davy_Dave

Also worth saying I lived in Australia for a decade. Back in Scotland since end of last year but I can absolutely say it still there I would be every bit as angry about this and wouldn’t be going

IT14

Don’t think anyone would begrudge the Aussie bears getting to see the famous, however this is clearly a deal with the devil and the board should have seen this coming a mile away

Ian Bone

All the goodwill I had for this board has been washed away with this decision. I would expect this sort of thing from Fat Mike or Green but this board is meant to be Rangers men. I also will never ever understand how David Graham did not see this as the biggest PR failure coming. How can the board be so completely out of touch? For a long time I have been frustrated by the fact that they allowed the club to be attacked and never seemed willing to defend the fans or our reputation but this is a new low. I know this won't be a popular comment with many but I don't think Dave King would have allowed this to happen. I bought shares, as a family we have three MyGers, I spent money on the Edminson House deal and the kids have all the merch, and now I feel like a total mug. I think as a fan base we need to act, I personally won't be spending any more money. It breaks my heart we are back to a place where we can't trust those who are meant to be custodians of our club. As my old man would have said Lundy bastards, one and all.

Steve Clark

So in essence it’s our fault that we want a successful team on the park.i can believe how naive they have been.of course the yahoos were going to leak it to a)deflect from the news from the courts b)disrupt the 150 celebration planned for Saturday.

Martin Boyd

Respect to Bisgrove having the balls to come on and I understand what he is saying but c’mon really Rangers . This board seem to be out of touch with the fans which isn’t what we need as a club.

Glenn Butler

David, this has already been advertised in Australia and by them as a homecoming. Are they being paid the same as us, or receiving more?

Greg Archibald

Nobody can accuse you of shying away from tough questions anyway David but a shame that James Bisgrove tried to avoid them all. Utter disgrace of a decision.

Leslie White

Bisgrove is a total joke he talks about a commercial decision and try to make maximum income. Then why are you so Lazy on the Supporters Front for Commercial Items, we have Castore, AND! Don’t get up your backsides and look for other income streams that Supporters would buy . Turn the clock back to the days of the Original Stores, what a choice you had, Now we have Castore AND! Lazy is possibly being polite for the Supporters, give credit Yes Commerce steam for Businesses has done well, however think on other forms of Other Supporters income Your missing out on? As for me I backed the Board with a Proviso, “Don’t Take The Support For Granted” the Spivs Tried it and look what the Support done to Them!

Ian Bone

100% Ally, that is the key question. How can so called Rangers men have agreed to this. Bisgrove is a consultant, who is good at making money and he is fine to have suggested it. For the board to have approved it is beyond belief.

William mahon

Good interview David, listening to James again has convinced me to stop all subscriptions with Rangers. Pity with all the money I pay to watch the first team,B team and women's games. Won't be buying any merchandise from them either

Alan

The board are just following the team as they are both now experts at shooting themselves in the foot.

John Smith

I’m with you on that one Ian 👍 Perhaps this is the kind of thing he was raising concerns about

mooseylad

Drain the swamp.. get them all out

Stephen Strong

It's shocking that this Board couldn't forsee the shit storm agreeing to this would create. And for Bisgrove to state they are all fans doesn't ring true because 99% of fans I know want nothing to do with this Aussie Jolly.

Chris Jenkins

From my perspective as an Aussie Bear, I’ll be attending and I’ll outline why. I pay a fortune in merch, RTV season ticket etc and follow the team and have the up’s and down’s just like local Bears. We’ve not seen hide nor hair of Rangers down here since I think 2011. I have a 13 year old son who has never seen Rangers and we will spend a great 5 or 6 days in Sydney (we live in Perth) bonding like all you local fans do with your sons and daughters over matches. I and my son will watch Rangers train, go to both games and probably even stay in the same hotel as the team if we can find it out which one. In short, for us, it will be a once in a decade (maybe a lifetime) highlight and we will make the most of it. But overall, we just want to see the Rangers, regardless of who the opposition might be. I think the reality is that a Rangers down under tour, without an OF game and without Gerrard, would not be financially viable and would not garner enough interest. In fact, I doubt it would ever happen. I have real reservations about us playing them and how this was done and I don’t like it, I would rather it was anyone else we were playing. But, on balance, I would rather watch Rangers in the flesh here in Australia than not at all. I’d just ask Rangers fans to understand some of the personal perspectives involved here for some Aussie fans when they launch into “cancel the game” or “Aussie fans should boycott “ rhetoric. And think of how disappointed my son and I would be if it were now cancelled as we are finally getting to do something together we never thought we would. I’ve already been pulled up today twice by Rangers fans because I’m going and am not boycotting. Yes, my view is probably a selfish one but I think the money (I was a bondholder and shareholder), time and emotion I’ve sunk into the club over the last 22 years I’ve been in Australia despite not seeing a game should entitle me to a bit of selfishness re Rangers now and again. As one of the other posters put, it is possible to not agree with this game going ahead (and I generally don’t) but also to be attending in order to take a very rare opportunity to see the team I love.

Jamie

The day this was announced (yesterday) coincided with another news story Celtic were trying to hide. On our 150th anniversary you agree to a “friendly” with a club who tried to see off Rangers, invented a fake tour of Japan to limit our success in 2008 along with the same team who won’t even use our name or the “Old Firm” term. This is a compensation raiser for them to pay the CSA victims and our participation in it allows that to happen. Disgusting. If this goes ahead I won’t be renewing my season tickets. Fucking pathetic from everyone involved.

William

You are absolutely right David. This is a major mistake by the board.

Bill Bellingham

We should be concentrating in winning the league, then that money although welcome is not paramount. All this has done is divide the fans , home based verse oversea bears. A friendly against your most bitter rivals, really. Hope NSW and Sydney are ready and prepared for this nice wee friendly football game. Communication on this I believe was purposely held back till contract was signed , where was the FLO on all this. Anyway fans keep spending money and keep our mouths shut.

Janice Rennie

I don’t feel as angry as some but can understand. I also understand the need for the club to maximise their revenue. The PR on this has been shocking and the club should have been all over this yesterday when it was leaked. Instead it sounds like they panicked and spent 24 hours thinking about what to say. Disappointing but there’s no way I’ll be starving my club of money because of this as the hurt of 10 years ago still lives with me.

David Bold

Absolutely disgusted by this decision from the club. Some things are more important than money and I'm convinced the club could have raised similar money via other means. Maybe the fans would have been more understanding if money was actually being invested to improve the playing squad.

Stephen Ramsay

This 100% a massive boo-boo from the board. Money over all seems to be the attitude. I won’t be buying anything extra this year over and above season ticket and I hope the fans make themselves heard over this.

Chris Wight

I can understand why people are so upset by this and I tend to agree that we should be doing THEM any favours at all. But if the money is used to tie down key playing assets onto long-term contracts I think people would maybe understand why the board have done this. I.e. receiving large transfer fees for Kent, Aribo & Morelos instead of losing them on a free.

G Dewar

Everything about that interview screamed we are going to do this regardless of what the fans think. Disgusting by the club.

Mr J K Murray

we play them in cups & league here, what is the land mass' difference, understand the dirty bomb of them, win take the blank check, if it does not work out it does not work out, suppose you have to try first, i want football progress, Vhampions league,if this adds to it, bite der bullet, im not interest in them, media of it nonsence, only Rangers, further there is Uk forces in political of supply neclear subs ect there,

G87

I dont think this is anywhere near as bad as folk are making out tbh. Yeah I'd rather not play them in a friendly but its good income for the club and chance for Oz fans to see the teams. Imo it's the marketing and presentation that's cost the club here, plus the fact we are 3 points behind in league. If we were 10 clear, this wouldn't be anywhere near as big an issue

Tamus

Fck off BISGROVE

G Dewar

The fact that he said we negotiated separately as if that was a good thing stuck out to me. They'll be getting more money than us for this trip. Embarrassing.

Colin McL.

I hope the Club emails now refrain from mentioning ‘history’, ‘values’, ‘loyalty’ but it’s apparent what drives us now. A shameful decision.

Greg

He doesn't come across well in that interview. I'm so fucking angry at the club over this . This is just my own opinion but bears down under should think carefully before attending this shit show.

Tamus

The man who decided it was a good idea to charge £50pa to fans to go on a waiting list for a ST, with no garuntee of getting a Season Ticket. Money is all that matters to this guy

Chris Wight

Think you have to call a spade a spade, they are always going to be scum, from now until the end of time. Eventually we have to do what is best for the books. You can say that THEY are deflecting away from yesterdays news but they will get their day in court eventually and there will be nowhere for them to hide. When that happens there will be no deflecting away from it, it’ll be the biggest story in the UK.

Bill Jones

Club not listening to the support again. We should be not be aligning ourselves with that insidious and vile club especially after the legal news that broke the other day. We should not associating our name with them.

Joe Ward

Basically we know you're raging but we don't care

Ross Edgar

I’m disappointed more than angry with it. I understand it. The disappointment stems more around the ‘Glasgow derby’/‘Ange homecoming’ narrative that go along with it. They need to sort that out if they want to salvage anything from it. If so, I think the board will look at it flash short term pain for long term gain. Still don’t like it though .

Paul Miller

James Bisgrove came across bullish, encouraged discussion but gave the impression that there is no debate to be had and the decision will not be reversed. Why waste everybodys time.

Steven Nicol

We must need the money. Our accounts have been hellish for years, selling Patterson effectively meant we didn’t have to rely on a loan to see out the season.

Brian Rae

His reasoning has wound me right up. Yes, we expect to strengthen. the squad because we are fucking Rangers! They haven't strengthened the first 11 since Kent was signed in the summer of 2019. If they think they can rest on 55 they can think again because they are mugging off the fanbase. I dread to think how toxic it will become if we don't win this league. I applaud your restraint and questions asked, David.

Steven McGill

Producing with the content again David 👏🏼Robertson should have been fronted up to do that because Bisgrove is just doing his job

Ross Stewart

I’m for the “friendlies”. I get that Celtic don’t even like to mention us as old firm and all that shite, however the financial situation of the tournament is a no brainer for us. To me

William Hughes

Money over morals. Good to know the board will ride roughshod over the fans feelings regardless of the issue as long as there's a few quid in it. Not happy with this at all. Associated with a club who hate us, reckon we don't exist, never say our name, Glasgow Derby pish and soon to be worldwide news being the largest paedophile ring in sporting history? No thanks. The board have fucked this right up on the eve of our 150th year. Well done.

Iain Mitchell

A lot of money and the opportunity to ruin 'Ange's Homecoming'! I get the annoyance from some but this income might be the difference between losing/keeping players and being able to strengthen the team significantly for next season.

Alan Spiden

I’m probably just going to be echoing the vast majority of supporters, both here and on social media, but it’s clear that the board regard Celtic simply as our rivals, both on and off the field I regard Celtic as something completely different. I regard them as a stain on Scottish football and Scottish society. I regard them as enablers and apologists and I hate them with every fibre. How our board of Rangers fans do not understand our feelings shows a level of disconnect that beggars belief.

Donald Robertson

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the backlash is way OTT. I don't like it, I don't like how it was announced, the communication etc etc etc. But come on, look where we were even 5 years ago. A lot of that is down to being strategic with the commercial side. It's a big mistake but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. If someone is offering you multi-millions to play 2 games, with half a squad, as well as the oppertunity to sell your brand and product abroad - I can see why it's considered a strategically good decision. (As a side note, I'm half aussie and even I'd never heard of their manager before this year. BS about homecomings etc is just marketing - very few people in Oz, or anywhere else, will care. Our job, assuming no u-turns, is to market ourselves bigger and better - biggest, oldest, most successful club coming to Australia. Get fucking ready).

Steven Latta

No problem with the tourney itself. But it should've been in the contract that it should be called the old firm. Think that's where they went wrong.

Ally Mair

If this is about money then maybe the board should have invested more in the 1st team squad and we might be in a better position to take advantage of a certain 40million waiting at end of season . This is already being billed as ange's homecoming for fucks sake , im sorry but we should not be aligning ourselves with a club across the city whos fan base do not recognise us as a club call us zombies and who refer to the old firm game as a Glasgow Derby. Friendly with that lot ! They can take a fuck to themselves

Gordon Millar

I think he just said, money, money, money......the problem is the environment that we live in daily, be it the SMSM, the Glasgow Derby crap that we hear and cringe at etc etc.....the constant attacks since 2012 are the reason we are angry.. Read the room FFS.....

Stuart

Bit harsh on Bisgrove there considering what he’s done for the commercial side since he came in.

Pondo Sinatra

The timing/manner of the announcement is what triggered me. The ruling of the Judge yesterday to allow victims to use Celtic was trampled under the furore about this fixture - Celtic were always going to have some good news deflection story coming out to counter the Court ruling and we've managed to become part of that fuckin' deflection story! 😠

Stuart

While this doesn’t sit well with me I’ll lose no sleep over it. Bigger things to stress about at the moment.

John Blair

This interview had made me angrier tbh. I only heard, this is worth a lot of money, if you want players and success shut up and accept it. We are being forced to collaborate with a team that refuses to use our name or use our badges and is that despicable, used the announcement to bury other negative news. Our whole participation in the tournament is already being downplayed in Oz in favour of the "homecoming" We are allowing ourselves to be downgraded for the sake of money. Our traditions and principals matter more than money. We don't allow ourselves to be used for the sake of others.

Ross MacFarlane

I don’t know why I am surprised at my reaction to this. I am disheartened and feel as distant today from the club as I think I ever have. Even through the darkest of times I never forgot the history of resilience, of working hard for each other, of earning greatness on the park. I am today confronted with a Rangers which will apparently do anything for a fast buck. I wish I was a man of means who could simply offer them the cash value of the perceived benefit and ask them to cancel. I can understand the English giants whoring each other out to tender abroad in the close season, they’re netting thirty to fourth times what we likely will. Theirs is a diluted game of cash hungry sycophants. Ours is slowly fading to that I fear, and at a much lesser cost. Shame on you Rangers.

Douglas Hannah

My disappointment is with the Parks and Bennet and co, surely they could foresee how this was going to go. The apology over the Eulogy to Walter Smith was vile in the extreme, and should have been the final straw with them, and I expected far better from a boardroom full of diehard Rangers men .

Andrew Hind

Not bothered about us going for tournament and getting a good pay day, however it has been handled very badly and should have known they needed a distraction this week.

Ross

I have not changed my mind one iota about how tone deaf this decision is. Well done on at least getting us an explanatory interview H&H. Still utterly stinks

Gary Laird

Really hasn’t changed my mind at all! We should not be entertaining this. Great money or not.

Rod Murray

I live in Perth Australia and have done for 16 years. I’m a little confused by all this to be honest. Why is this such a disaster? I’m not being difficult, I just don’t understand it. Ange is a local hero down here as he won the Asian Championship with the Socceroos (yes, every national team is referred to by a nickname down here. It makes sense to market it as a homecoming to garner local interest. The Old Firm/ Glasgow Derby thing I get. Is that the reason everyone is so upset? I genuinely don’t know, so I’m not being a smart arse. For my part I have been to several.OF games. My 18 year old son has not been to one. The chances of getting a ticket for one when we come home for a visit is similar to winning the lottery. I will go. My lad deserves to see us play them and support his team with everything he has. There will be lots of people from both sides in the same position. I love Rangers. My son loves Rangers. We always will. I don’t disrespect any of the comments or opinions of all you who follow the team home and away every week. We do the same but from our living room. But please try to get a little bit of perspective. My lad had a cancer scare last month and that brought home to me that life really is too short. Please don’t boycott the club or merch sales. We only end up hurting ourselves. We are lucky. We support the greatest team on the planet. I’m sure there are lots of people in Ukraine who would love it if this was what bothered them just now. Sorry if i offended anyone. I really don’t mean to. All the best. We are and always will be the people.

Craig Mcwhinnie

Can honestly see I’m not bothered either way by it, yes it could have been handled a hell of a lot better, it’s a massive pay day by the sounds of it, on top of that atleast the bears down under can actually get along and see Rangers play, on the other hand I can appreciate where most of the supporters frustrations lie, as that lot are indeed a club like no other and deserve everything that’s coming to them.

Chris C

Sorry James, I don’t think the future success of RFC hinges on playing the sideshow to Paedo FC in an Ange love-in at the other side of the world. Also, the board are “disappointed” at the fans reaction??? I’ll tell you something Mr Bisgrove - it’s not half as disappointing as the board’s abhorrent decision to even consider taking part in this farce.

PR__92

I've never been angrier or disappointed in rangers fans talking about protest ect if they feel that strong about the team doing it set up a go fund me and cover the cost of the revenue instead of throwing the toys out the pram you can not agree with the decision without hurting the club financially and causing a massive distraction to title race with 10 games to go

PR__92

And if they feel that strongly against Celtic what do they give them money to go to parkhead twice a season

Sgems90

Bisgrove and the board are so out of touch its unreal. I would have liked him to have been questioned over the use of Glasgow Derby and Ange Home Coming

Robert

I have never taken notice of anything they have said about us. We need to move on from the utter nonsense that they spout. Seems we are going to get much needed exposure to other markets and extra funds to improve the squad. Hopefully we can get back to buying players with the cash and not getting loan players in.

Scott McDougall

Spectacular own goal by the club here, the board are so far out of touch with the fans I can’t see how they come back from this.

John Cairns

I have the utmost sympathy with your feelings and thoughts on attending this game. But if I were living in Scotland throughout the last decade, you would be utterly disgusted at the club's disregard for the fan's feelings on this betrayal. Those bastards tried their utmost to kill Rangers, and though we survived, they've taken every opportunity to kick us as we've fought our way back to the top( aided and abetted by a compliant SFA,SPFL and lapdog media). I for one, will never forgive or forget. I am embarrassed bit the board's willingness to get in bed with the Devil! Enjoy Ange's homecoming!

Steve23

Terrible decision, somethings can’t be bought. Most worrying thing about this is I don’t believe for a minute hat the club didn’t foresee this reaction from the fans, I simply don’t think they care. What a complete cluster this is, we never fail

Robbie McCarroll

I think the poor dropped points are adding to my disappointment in the Aussie decision. I also wonder what money would have been involved if we played a tournament with the likes of Hamburg, Orange County….would that be less lucrative. Still annoyed at Ross County and Motherwell game to be honest

Dougie Davidson

I’m in nz and in normal circumstances would definitely travel to Australia for any tournament involving us, but there’s no way on earth I will go to this one. Really disappointed with the club on this one.

Allan Osborne

It's a shocking decision, and a kick in the teeth to the support. Are we that short of money we feel the need to sell our souls to the highest bidder? This has to be reversed.

Steve23

I completely oppose this decision by the club but I can understand this mate and don’t blame you at all. Given your commitment to the club you and other fans in your situation, have shown, you should not be criticised for taking the once in a lifetime opportunity to watch your club live. I really do hope bears like you don’t get any hassle from other fans back home over this.

Allister

David, I'm an overseas bear myself (USA rather than Australia) but if this tournament was coming here, I still would not want it to happen. I think the board has been naive here and haven't realised the level of backlash. Bisgrove is clearly happy with the revenue coming from this (he should be as that's his job), but in my view this is revenue at too high a cost. To take a positive view, it will be a strong message for the board to have listened to the supporters and pull out of this.

Tommy

Can’t help feeling some of the reactions on social to this is a little extreme. Merch boycotts, match boycotts? Comparing the board to the spivs? Oh they’ve made a mess of this decision no doubt and need to be closer to the support, but they’re not asset stripping the club ffs. They’re not setting out to kill us. I understand the anger but my perspective is that some of the reactions feels a little OTT.

Zander West

Terrible Decision that shows money talks above anything. But if we thrash em 5-0nil over there and get a load of dosh to spend in the winter window next year will it be viewed so badly?? I just hate getting into bed with that mob at all,l they are not to be trusted

Spoon

Well done David, right questions asked. Credit to Bisgrove to coming on, that’s where any credit ends. Shambolic answers, sock PR shite spewed out by someone who had no clue what shitstorm it would bring. Bad decision that will have real impact on the fans in terms Alf how they view rest of season. Win every game and it might start to ease, slip up again and it’s gersmageddon and every one will be hit by the shit shotgun. Inexcusable really, your right it’s worse as they are fans on the board. Amateurish stuff. Cheers for putting yourself in the firing line David 🤜🏻

Charles Thomson

To those who say 'look at the money' Guess what? Only rangers and Celtic can realistically win the league and they will get the same as us. So we will get zero benefit. Withdraw from the 'friendly' now

Tommy

I’m with you Rod. One thing to add, the “Ange homecoming” thing hasn’t been used by those running the tournament. Celtic ran with it and some of the media picked up on it. It’s not the phrase of the tournament so we need to keep to the facts. It’s not been handled well by the club but I’m not really aligned to the anger levels many are showing

Steven Elder

I think you should have been more blunt with Bisgrove and spelt out the reasons why we don't want to play them or are the board ok with getting into bed with people who can't say the name Rangers.

Tommy

The official release didn’t mention Ange’s Homecoming etc. the media have ran with this, but this wasn’t in the press release

Mark Boyd

Sadly, they just don’t understand why. To enter any commercial agreement with Celtic is a slap in the face to us and they should have known it

Roy Hamilton

David well done for getting the interview. I think the questions you asked were the questions that needed asked. I’m not convinced they understand why people are so pissed and he seemed a bit surprised at the reaction to it but I think they’ve just sold out a lot of dignity for a quick payday. Sure it’s a great commercial deal but money isn’t always the be all and end all, even for a business. With that said if there are Aussie based Bears that want to go to this game because they don’t get so see Rangers in the flesh so often they will get no criticism from me. Can’t criticise anyone for going to see the team we all love.

Johnnie Mitchell

Glad to hear a Bear in Australia feels the same way as most people I know do. Even with the rare chance to see the team live. Respect to you

Scott Cochrane

Well done David for pressing Bisgrove during the interview. Although stated he’s happy to have dialogue with fans, what I took from this is simply lip service as basically he’s saying ‘deals done & can’t be reversed’ Agree Board to blame for approving this. They’ve failed to read the room on this.

Iain Dunleavy

This needs to be used as a stick to beat Doncaster and Co with. It shows how inept and useless they are when we are getting more for a friendly than winning the league. How that man is still in a job is beyond a joke

stefan strzelecki

I’m a fan. I just don’t understand what the problem is. We have the opportunity to make money . I understand it’s part of a pre season tour . The opponents are insignificant . If this competition is popular and we get offered £7 million next year for participation. Is any person genuinely going to be opposed to it. We have a duty to grow the brand in established markets. I think people need to sometimes recognise that the board should be trusted the autonomy to manage the business as they see fit to help us prosper , without referenda. That’s why they are in position . It’s not as though there is an SPFL old firm game being relocated to Australia . Get over ourselves springs to mind .

Mark

Unless the club is prepared to enter into a sponsorship deal with Gazprom just now in exchange for big £££ then the financial justification for this friendly doesn't stand up.

John brady

This has made me even more mad.

Scott Christian

I disappointed he’s used the phrase they’re disappointed; it’s being framed as a you don’t know what’s good for you and that’s not a good look.

Graham McCallum

Fucking disgusted by my club today and that’s a first. How dare we enable those fuckers to help bury that news yesterday

Heart and Hand

That’s making it about me. I have time after it for speeches - I didn’t want to take up any more time during it than I had to as it was about getting answers from the club, not my opinion.

Spoon

Listened now….still raging

Robert Deavy

I’m astounded at the arrogance of this. After all we have been through, the backing we have given, to not be listened to is frankly disappointing beyond belief. This is a huge error that will may never heal between the fans and the board if they go ahead with this!!

Alan Russell

Our integrity is not for sale. Rangers men should have known better. What’s next…are we gonna attend an event at Gary Glitters house? I hear it’s on Saville Row, murals to be painted by Rolf Harris. Music to be provided by Michael Jackson.

Colin Wieland

Looks like we just trying to claw back the Ramsey £2m which was poured down the drain. Disgraceful from the club to even consider it, but to agree to it!! Ffs

KAD87

Think we need to just crack on and enjoy beating them in Australia. Am I going to spend less money and hinder the club? Probably not. Is the club purely driven by the finances on this? Probably. Rangers have been taking cash out our pockets with little in return for decades, so it is no surprise.

Ross

Bisgrove goes on about all the commercial deals financing the club for transfers and contracts. We have heard all this before, that’s what Mygers was for. Fans are loosing patience now, no decent investment in the team for almost 3 years. I will tell you how to get a good commercial deal James. Spend £10m to win £30m and not hand the worst Celtic team in almost 30 years a chance to win the title. I can’t see the club vision anymore, the disconnect with fans is frightening. Hey we might loose the league but at least we ll have a museum and a fans village v Aberdeen .. bollocks

Jim Milne

Have you seen the way or brand is being see to market these games? "Glasgow Derby" and "Ange's homecoming". We are not growing our brand, we are growing there brand. There won't be fans down under suddenly going out to buy Rangers merchandise and grow our brand when their manager is the face of the tournament. If anything Aussies will buy their merchandise to celebrate their old Socceroo boss returning. We are getting in to bed with people who refuse to acknowledge our very existence, and issue apologies for using Rangers instead of Sevco in Walter Smith's eulogy. That's before we even discuss them leaking the news of this tournament to hide from a court decision yesterday. They wouldn't even give us 750 tickets at the last Old Firm game, blamed us for the shitshow of ticket allocation when they were giving zero to every other SPFL team....... yet our board is quite happy for our brand to be a side show for "Ange's Homecoming". They continually tell us they are half of nothing, well that is true for this trip down under. They won't be half they'll be the entire focus and we will be a sideshow to Ange and fueling merchandise sale for them. Hardly see anyone down under buying a Rangers jersey with Ange on the back. Our support would rather fill Ibrox multiple times for friendlies in the summer than witness this to occur. As for the £7m, how much of it will we see? Patterson's transfer fee hasn't really been reinvested, Kamara the only renewal in the last 12 months. The board likely seen the offer and thought it was a quick way to get "loans" back. I doubt we will see that money reinvested. I respect your opinion, but I disagree.

Graham johnston

I was against the idea but if the money involved is so good then we have to take it. I appreciate the worst thing about being a Rangers fan is having them as our rivals but don't cut our noses off to spite our faces. Trust me Sevco tims will be more upset on us. We should lap it up ans remind them that's no one believes their new club lies

Donald Williamson

Certainly a bad decision but it's definitely not worth derailing our season with protests or harming the club with merch boycotts etc.

Roddy John Murray

Cracking pod, well done on not fannying about with the questions for James.

Fraser86

I'm not sure what the problem is with making a shed load of cash with out B team on Australia playing two games, also GIO doesn't like rotation by the looks of it we shall see tonight

Shevy Kapoor

Bisgrove is a problem. I'm convinced he's related to David Murray. His arrogance and contempt for the fans has been brewing for a while. He was dismissive of a fans protest and trying to tell us how player acquisition is funded. We know James....we've been doing this for years!

Iain Murray

Money over morals as always Rangers. Total shambles..... joining the Ange tour. Very poor decision. Joining a club on tour who don't acknowledge us or our history or the old firm and who are about to be dragged over the coals in law suits for the historic abuse.... Imagine telling Walter that this was going to happen.. So disappointed.

Robert Ryan

On a more serious note, I thought James could have used Celtic's name unlike how they don't use ours...

Neil Buchanan

Nope. We’re selling our soul for cash on the justification it’s more £ than the worst football TV deal in Europe . We’re now in tow to a club facing child sexual abuse allegations and they’ve happily used this to distract from the news. They won’t even call us Rangers - SLAP, they won’t call the fixture the Old Firm - SLAP . The whole circus is built around a “ homecoming” for their manager - SLAP. I won’t blame Bisgrove either , it’s his job. Our board however … Well nobody doubts they are Rangers fans but what is crystal clear is that their wealth insulates them from the realities of the Scummy Celtic support we as the Rangers support encounter in our lives day in, day out. I’ve unsubscribed from all club and merchandise emails & purchases and won’t be frequenting any food outlets in the ground. That’s only my feeling, each to their own but where does this end ? If we’re offered a fee higher than the TV deal to play in a benefit match to pay the Yahoos possible legal compensation bill do we jump at that too ? Get this to fuck.

Robert Ryan

Yeah, I think he thought he couldn't have said their name but perhaps didn't appreciate we weren't/aren't quite as petty as them.

Graeme Collins

Moved to Sydney 10 years ago. Spent that time with a group of friends running the Sydney True Blues, hoped and prayed we’d come out again. Not like this though, absolutely against the idea of playing that lot.

Scott Dunlop

Be honest if we had announced it first and played it the big 150 card etc before Celtic announced it would we have been more open to the idea?

Stephen Fraser

For me, this is the only thing Bisgrove has done that I’m not on board with. The guy has been great for the club, so I don’t understand this new contempt for the guy. It’ll be the B Team, or at least maybe a few 1st team players. Get over it.

stephen

Can we just stop this bullshit that the board are Rangers fans???, if they where they would have known from the outset and told that lot to pay their own legal fees.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

feel so let down not only with this but added to that not prioritising winning this title in the last 3-4 windows . We should be out of sight . Recruitment and then this what a boot in my gers bag

Gordon McCool

Rod, that is a very short sighted opinion you have there, much like the decision by Rangers, as no one forced us to move to the other side of the world. We are skipping and dancing on the coat tails of a rancid club that can’t/won’t say our name or put it on their programme, they pander to the hard core element of their support at every turn. All of this is happening in our 150th year and they believe we are only 10 years old (GlasgowDerby). I feel sick about this whole situation. I for one will not be attending and that also is making me angrier by that hour that they accepted this. If they want Aussie bears to see the team they could easily have just done an independent tour out Aus/NZ. 🤬🤬🤬

George Joyce

Although I don't like doing any joint things with them I wouldn't dream of boycotting anything. We need the money. If we win the league it changes the dynamic imo. If they win it, it would be murder after it and when this nonsense comes round

Coplandbear

The Rangers board are a damn disgrace

David Docherty

I'm in Qld and have been dreaming about Rangers doing a tour down Under but not this. Utterly embarrassing how this has been marketed and a massive own goal by the club. I won't be going.

stefan strzelecki

To be honest I don’t think there is a heart and hand subscriber or podder who despises the filth anymore than me . Celtic took the lead in promoting their manager to market it in the way you convey. To be fair they are entitled to do this . It’s called capitalism . Rangers remain a prevalent force in Australian sports culture. I don’t have an inferiority complex about who is the most dignified , successful , global club in Scotland.

Tom

If we retain the league title then it would be some laugh to take the trophy down to Australia and show it off!😂 I'm not in favour of this for moral reasons btw, just trying to see a silver lining to it.

Gordon Smith

Sydney based Bear. Agree with everything that you have said. The advertisement in Australia featuring “Ange Ball” has been emetic. However we haven’t had a tour since 2010. It’s an amazing opportunity to get the Rangers family together. I have had my spare room reserved by many people already, haven’t told the wife yet. I will definitely attend the Sydney FC game. The other two have rabid supporters and I tend to avoids WSW games anyway. So may give those games a miss. A point to also consider post covid sport has been overpricing in Australia. Tickets for the one day at The Ashes set me back $200. Although interest in the Sydney Darby has dipped in recent years 2014 seen them draw a crowd of 80,000. Priced right this could be massive gives the interest around the World Cup at that time.

Timmy Turton

I’m torn on it as I think it’s money during the Winter Break most of of our Top players will probably be away to the World Cup anyways. Also it’s gives bear in around Oz a chance to see us play. I do think Bisgrove comes out with the same corporate waffle sometimes similar to when we signed with Castore and all the waffle they were coming out with at the time. Good interview though and I think you got as much as you were going to get out of him David. At least they’ll definitely get a feel of how the fans feel about it as a whole. It’ll be money for what’s nothing more than an exhibition match more than a friendly. And chance to promote the Club over in Oz.

James Kenny

Credit to Bisgrove to come on a make his case. The guy's doing his job, it's all about revenue streams nowadays. This is a board decision and I don't agree with it and to find out about it from the Shettelson's adds insult to injury. I was in Oz nearly 8 years ago watching us getting beatby Raith Rovers and Dundee Utd in two different cups within a week. If I lived in Australia/NZ permanently I would do anything to see those colours in the flesh, how many chances will you have to do that with the years you have left? I can walk to I brox so I would never judge our brother's down under. I wonder if the Aussie Polis know what awaits them.

Gordon McCool

As a Rangers fan living in Adelaide, I will be nowhere near this game, I seem to be getting angrier about this as time goes by. That interview didn’t help either. We are being brought over here as a side show to a club that deny our very existence to their hard core element but are happy to claim the Old Firm behind closed doors. Absolute short sightedness from the board. Nothing stopping them from having a tournament the same as the one in France last year. It’s bad enough being associated with that mob never mind being paraded as the poor relative. Disgraceful decision.

Neil Heron

A simple vote using my gers subscribers would have kicked this into touch

Stephen Fraser

Not convinced the hype is worth it on this. Respectfully, I just don’t agree with what sounds like a comprehensive opposition to this. I think it may have helpful for James to explain even a couple of the reasons against, particularly if your asking if they retract their acceptance to play. I genuinely hope there aren’t protests on this. Seems a complete over reaction to me and I just wanted to register that. Again, respectfully.

Colin Sleigh

Credit to Bisgrove for coming on and thank you David for getting the interview. I personally don't think we should cut off our nose to spite our face here. Win the game, ruin "Ange's homecoming", take the cash (which is significant), invest in the club and move on.

greg dunlop

all that interview does is show how out of touch bisgrove is with the fans. i cant imagine its the fact we are going abroad that people are upset about. its the fact we are playing against them and its being marketed as his homecoming

Pedro

Jesus christ. The worst interview i have ever heard from Rangers. Ever.

Pedro

"The communication strategy was ..interesting..." fuck me man. Get rid of this lying clown

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

I’m ok with this idea. Good money and a chance to beat those bar stewards!!

Rod Murray

Tommy, thank you for pointing that out. I only really know what I see on here and assumed by all the comments that the Ange homecoming phrase was used to market the tournament judging by the negative comments. I do apologise. Gordon McCool, thanks for your response. I disagree that I am being short sighted and would argue my comments are the opposite. Yes, they claim we are dead and have only been going for 10 years. Yes the refuse to call it the OF. Does that really matter? Does it really matter what they do or say? It certainly doesn’t to me. My lad winds his sister up all the time. She bites so he does it again. See my point here? What they say do or think is none of my concern so I don’t let it bother me. No one else believes their pish. Dortmund certainly didn’t. We are Rangers, we have always been and will always be. So, in my opinion we are not dancing on their coat tails. Yes they wanted us killed off but it didn’t work. They refuse to say our name but that’s a reflection on them not us. Thanks again for your comments. I respectfully disagree and would argue that my viewpoint is forward thinking not short sighted as you suggest. I’ll still be going. I’ll still be paying for RTV. I’ll still be buying merchandise and I’ll still be proud to be a Bear. What anyone else thinks of me is none of my business.

Scott Hamilton

Don't think his appearance has had the effect they hoped it would. Despite fans pouring all sorts of money into the club over recent years for a whole host of products, and being spammed on a near daily basis by our 'commercial partners' great to hear the club are disapointed by people expressing their perfectly valid opinions.

Gavin Currie

Aussie based bear, I completely get the moral outrage and understand peoples feelings on this but the last time I saw Rangers play Ian Black and Kyle Hutton were the midfield pairing! I’ll definitely be going, all of the members of my supporters are going and quite frankly we are all buzzing about it. Watp.

Brian Laird

Rangers getting into bed with the Kiddyfiddlers think of that Quantum Landscape Bisgrove.

Richie

As an Auusie based bear I want ZERO to do with this, actually makes me feel sick and ashamed.

Graham Espie

In Melbourne and frankly I don’t get the strength of feeling against this. The notion that fans will boycott merch over this is completely idiotic. I’d be more worried about how it’s policed.

Stuart Smillie

I have just moved to Perth, missing rangers more than most of my family, but they can stick this right up their arse! Absolute shambles of a decision.

Graham Jones

I don’t know waht to say after that interview. The first thing I’ll say is I don’t blame Bisgrove. I blame the gutless wonder who loaded the barrel for him and sent him out there to face down the fans. He has been given little to no guidance on this issue by the people who like to talk of their love for the club within that boardroom. It’s not James Bisgrove who should be blamed, but the coward who should’ve manned up and spoke today. I want to know where Stewart Robertson and John Bennett were today. They should’ve known how we’d react, and how we will react if this still goes ahead. Bisgrove was simply following what they had agreed to, and that’s the important part. He was simply doing his job of raising revenue for the club. The other directors weren’t thinking about how we might react to the situation. It was a stitch up.

Robert Paterson

for some mad rangers fans in Oz this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I lived in Glasgow for five years and was fortunate enough to get along to a few old firm games! 3 wins 1 draw 💪🏻 I’m wrapt that I might get get the chance to see the famous beat that mob in Oz! Big money that we need coming in for the club!! I absolutely understand the resistance to giving them anything or being associated with them in any way but will definitely be there if it happens to show my support for the greatest football team in the world! 💙 WATP all across the world! 💙

Gordon Watson

New Zealand-based Bear. Torn. Apoplectic. Disappointed. Haven’t made up my mind about going or not. Happy to discuss topic.

Richie

As an Aussie living in Perth WA I'm really angry with this whole farce. Having just listened to the interview unfortunately I feel the only way I can express my anger is to not renew my RTV subcription, etc. as it very clear morals mean nothing only money.

Graeme McLeod

You mean "be good little consumers," pal, as fans have supported the club through thick and thin and the custodians of the club continue to show they're completely out of touch with the fans. They don't want our support - they want our cash and nothing more. Fuck them.

Graeme McLeod

If the money for this friendly tournament is too good to turn down, why bother with the SPFL at all? Let's just go full Harlem Globetrotters and take this Glasgow Derby Starring Celtic And Ange, featuring Rangers on the road. Can do Canada, USA, America, Japan. Possibilities are endless.

Stephen Grant

Short term gain for long term pain , out of touch understanding of the strength of feeling , “we are not half of anything” !!!!

Andrew Whiteside

Unpopular opinion but if I only did business with people I liked I would be penniless. The board have forked out 100m and can’t keep footing the bill at the end of the year. Don’t forget the impact of the pandemic on the club. I am fine beating Celtic on any continent for any reason.

Neil Anderson

I'm an Aussie based bear. I can't understand the ire around this match. If it's a competition is it even a friendly?

James Mathieson

I understand why people are unhappy however I see why it’s been done. It’s money. Look where we have came from… Financially Celtic are light years ahead of us and we need this extra revenue. If people are going to boycott games, not buy merch etc that’s up to them but I don’t feel that’s supporting your team. It’ll be even sweeter if we pump them.

Doug Maclean

I don’t have a problem with the game at all. The club are making great money and playing a couple of games in a 5 weeks shutdown. No Rangers pals of mine have even mentioned this tour as a problem

Billy Forrester

I don’t have an issue with this tournament either, it’s millions of pounds that will be welcomed into our club and needed, the outbursts about boycotting games and not buying merchandise etc is pathetic and only hurts our club. In this era after covid etc we need the revenue so no issues for me on this

Laura McCrimmon

I don't have a problem with the game, we need to ensure the club are financially stable and this goes along way to help that and provide funds to help the team. I agree that its been handled badly but I'm sorry we play this mob every year, we want more tickets for their home game and all that money goes to them yet we have a problem with us getting money for going and play a game. I don't see it as getting into bed with them, I know they refuse to use our name, I know their horrid reputation of how they handle things or should I say ignore important matters but overall I want the best for our club and if this provides the funds and exposure that will help us succeed then I can see why it's happening.

John Hammond

You've listed all the reasons why this won't be the best for our club unfortunately. As someone who lives in Australia the 'exposure' is not worth the humiliation this will be for us. We're already cast as an irrelevant sideshow to "Ange's homecoming". Some things are more important than money. And I don't agree with the club's framing of this like there's no other option to raise funds.

John Hammond

And how exactly is this going to help us overtake Celtic financially? They're in the same tournament and will be getting paid at least the same, if not more. This is a disgrace from Rangers.

John Hammond

Just to balance out all the "I'm in Australia so I'll be going" comments. I'm in Australia and I think this is a disgrace and don't want a bar of it.

James Mathieson

Some fan if you are if in Australia and you won’t try to get to it.

John Hammond

Don't dare try to tell me what kind of fan I am. If you want to go and be the supporting act fluffers to Fat Ange's bhoys then knock yourself out.

Laura McCrimmon

Totally respect your opinion but I also know fans in oz who are willing to go to the game. To be honest I don't really care what they say about us, they are irrelevant to me. As is said we have fans who want a bigger share of tickets for the league games and that's money right into their pocket regardless of how the speak about us. And as for how its being spun that we are some side show again its not something that gets me annoyed enough to say I won't buy anything from the club again. The saying is people don't like us we don't care and that's exactly how I feel about that comment. Again I repeat I respect others opinions on this matter on why they are annoyed/angered and I would like to think people respect those that have differing opinions.

John Hammond

Maybe have a think about how you speak to fellow bears who happen to have a differing opinion to you.

Jason Allan

I get some fans don’t want this friendly to happen in Oz against them, but also we have a global fan base out there and personally those supporters deserve a chance to see our club. The opposition after the beginning of the weeks confirmation of court proceedings against them is the issue. We can’t be tainted by association anymore. We can play much larger clubs to generate income and showcase our club. Show respect to one another and back the team on the pitch. In fighting only suits one agenda.

John Palmer

I live in Brisbane and I'll be going if I get a ticket. Does it make me a lesser Bear! NO it does not, I'm just going to see the Team I love. The only reason why there's backlash is because Ange is Australian and we're playing them in Australia. Commercially it's brilliant to see this happen for people like me who live abroad. People boycotting merch or any other financial gains for Rangers is Petty in my opinion. Look at the bigger picture and think about the gains for future opportunities like this where this game could be taken to the fans and enhance our commercial growth. This Tournament has Nothing to do with what's going on with Them across the City, if that's your reasoning then Write a letter to RFC and tell them cancel every Old Firm moving forward because RFC shouldn't be funding their indiscretions. As David said at the end of Bisgroves interview, he wanted to hear from us Downunder Bears and this is my piece, any vile attacks in response to my comment will be reported to H&H directly.
