Still heartbroken and haven’t watched or read a single thing about the game. Anyone recommend this as part of some kind of healing process? Feel totally hollow.

Andrew Hind

Going to take a while to get over, we should believe we can do well in Europe if we can start winning more away games and a bit of luck why not

Steven

Great atmosphere from everyone I met. Except those in authority who were dismissive and heavy handed in equal measure. I feel sorry for people of Seville because if we were to draw them I would think twice about going because of treatment Rangers fans received.

Alan

Not listening to this and it will be a while before I listen to anything to do with it.

Billy McCormack

It was great we got to the Europa final and feeling the euphoria of the semi final at Ibrox was amazing, but let's face it if we fail to win the Scottish Cup tomorrow then this season has been a disaster for everyone involved, and the board need to give Gio the funds to rectify that and bring in players that's gonna start providing trophies, cause 1 trophy in 14 is just not bloody good enough for The Mighty Rangers.

Cameron Bell

Final is at 3, not 4. Apologies folks 😂

Rob Givan

100% true about the stadium conditions

Tamus

I feel like I'm in mourning - depressed as fq

tom taylor

Still scunnered but top work on getting the pods out, can't be easy. Onwards! 🔴⚪🔵

Scottie

No other way to say it, so I’ll say it, the Spanish police are fucking scum

Andrew Hillis

Just back from Seville this morning and was lucky enough to be at the game itself! Just for the record I couldn’t be prouder of the team and the fans in Seville! The atmosphere just before the game was incredible from the Rangers fans but they clearly struggled from there on! I might be way off the mark here but I cannot stress enough the impact the conditions had on our fans and players! Stifling heat and no refreshments on offer killed most people! I was driving after the game and didn’t drink before the game but anyone in the ground without water after 5 plus pints were clearly struggling (thankfully not anywhere near life threatening but enough to make it an extremely uncomfortable night for majority!) People were desperate to find water during the game and the concourse areas were unusually packed with fans all during the game! There was also the much smaller issue that the union bear representation was tiny, there were an incredible number of Rangers celebrities / tourists with tickets - guy on my left won a ticket through a works charity raffle in Ipswich and guy on my right had been supporting rangers ‘for nearly 3 years now’! 🤬 We were in upper tier behind the goal - and I was immediately shocked at how utterly shit and unsafe the seating was! Bucket seats concreted into the ground, 80s Dundee united style terracing steepness and incredibly narrow rows - a total death trap! One of the worst stadiums I have ever be in! Skopje (Macedonia) have a better ground! The conditions definitely impacted our star players with Tav, Jack, Lundstram, Kamara, and Kent visibly 20/30% off their energetic best! Anyway my main point is how disappointed I was with Gio’s tactics in extra time! You probably only get one chance at life and I remain baffled as to why Roffe and Ramsay weren’t subbed on for last 30! Ramsey’s first touch almost was a penalty! I thought Gio had learnt from his early cautious tactical mistakes when he first came in but seemed to revert on this occasion. Goldson’s brain fart was so avoidable, Kent had to score that chance, and Ramsey’s pen was criminal! Incredibly tight margins as they say and so frustrating as Frankfurt were miles off the quality of the other two German teams we played this season - goalkeeper apart - none of their players get into our starting 11! 👍 Just watch the difference tomorrow when we trounce Hearts when forecasted weather at kick off is 14 degrees and showers! Keep up the good work lads - WATP!

Think Martyn sums up where I am with this. Totally agree with David, im not angry at the team after the games they dug out how can you be but I am disappointed for the support and the players who have put in some phenomenal performances. I just couldn't believe the lack of belief and drive that has made us such an awkward customer for bigger teams than Frankfurt. That lack of desire to get at them is my biggest regret but I take onboard the conditions, I can't quite forgive the occasion being an excuse because if your a winner you embrace and grab that chance to shine and be a legend you dont shrink from it. The big question now is how does this season finish, a credible performance in final topped off with a cup win would probably be acceptable but if we fail to deliver this cup I suspect the tolerance levels will drop rapidly. Great pod to top off a memorable if not great season, thanks for all your efforts in keeping us sane and cheering us up. Lets hope next season we deliver some real success back to the club across all the domestic competition but most importantly build on what has been a really positive few years in Europ, David is spot on we should expect more than just taking part and seeing it as a bonus.

Callum MacKenzie

20 minutes into this and I have that sinking feeling in the soul again. I had been starting to feel better again too!

David Kelly

Fantastic pod guys, and I can really relate to so much of that. Had a genuinely lovely day with my dad and fellow supporters all day (and Seville is such a lovely city) up until 6pm when we were funnelled inside the pub where we were drinking outside by Spanish police for no apparent reason (apart from the fact they took great exception at an inflatable beach ball being kicked about on the street, how terrible) and then the subsequent shambles of getting into the ground. I was one of the thousands that had my charger confiscated and it was the undiluted arrogance and delight the guy took in doing so that made my blood boil. Also, as a fair skinned, ginger haired guy, the confiscation of my suncream was far from ideal so all in all, I totally agree, an absolutely scandalous situation but as you have alluded to, it doesn’t matter the amount of complaints/emails etc won’t make a blind bit of a difference which makes it all the more infuriating. Anyway, onwards to tomorrow 💙

Stephen Fraser

Got a lot of second hand rage listening to what you all went through on the way and into the stadium. Your right, nobody cares because it’s Rangers, like you can’t be a reasonable person because of a fu@king badge. I really hope that in time, the better memories flood out the bad ones. Hope the lads can find the strength to get through tomorrow and that they bring the cup home. R.I.P. Walter, R.I.P. Jimmy - WATP

Greg

I suppose borna is scared to play hearts as he's out of tomorrow's game.

Blairo

No tbh, I watched some highlights and feel worse than before 😂😞

John Cox

Barisic was our number one penalty taker for a short while last season - and seemed to be fine what’s changed now?

Andy Gray

Great pod guys. I was at the game so you summed up all aspects/feelings of the day perfectly. Surprised the fact majority of our fans went for exits as soon as the winning penalty went in wasn’t mentioned. Yes it wasn’t the outcome we wanted, it had been a long day for most and many probably desperate for some fluids but players deserved better than to collect their medals to a backdrop of empty seats. I’m not saying we should celebrate ‘failure’ but after the ride they’ve given us the least they deserved was our fans staying a bit longer to acknowledge their efforts.

Gordon Smith

I just noticed on my socials that it is nine years since the Free Gigi campaign. We’ve come a long way. 😂

Brian Rae

Like most i'm still numb after Wednesday. One thing is clear to me, we need players who stay fit as we have far too many players who simply can't stay injury-free. It's the same players all the time and as a club and fanbase, it's time to get to that next level. That won't happen when 5 or so main players are constantly injured. Recruitment is key.

Angus Mackay

Thanks for a fantastic pod, guys. Brilliant assessment of the game itself and also the wider context. It was obvious in the game that once Davis came on we were better able to retain the ball and also more Abel to win it back. I wish that sub had been made earlier. I also strongly agree with Martyn’s assertion that Ramsey should have been given time; they were running on fumes and there were gaps. But how can we complain when the manager’s nous and bravery at key times got us this far? Like Martyn the last four years in Europe is what I’ve always wanted from Rangers. To me this is the most consistently rewarding period of supporting the club. This was a team built to punch up in Europe and not to club seals in the SPL; I really hope we don’t depart from that strategy, because on our budget we’re going to have to prioritise one over the other for the foreseeable. I think we also need to cut the management in general and the DoF in particular some slack. We’ve dismissed teams that cost fortunes this year and yet the DoF is often talked about as if he still has everything to prove. Mistakes will be made because there has to be an element of gambling in what we’re trying to do - Ramsey was a good idea, it didn’t work out, but the actual idea was smart. We’re now going to enter a period in which the team will need to be seriously recast, so I hope that we’ll see some sanity and patience if everything doesn’t click at once (because, let’s face it, it’s not likely to). The club has shown me enough that they know what they’re doing in this respect that I’m willing to trust them and hopefully if we give them the space we’ll be rewarded by knockout stages on a regular basis going forwards. That is absolutely where we should be as a club. Thanks again guys for a terrific pod. PS, I really, really hope that Steven Davis stays for at least one more season, the last few weeks should have reminded anyone who’s forgotten how important he is to us.

Craig Fryatt

Martyn , it will happen. In my lifetime it will be 3rd time lucky

Derek Stewart

I'm currently in Frankfurt airport & I've never been prouder to be a rangers supporter, lots of locals wishing us well for the future & the cup final today,we leave with our heads held high.

Brian Moore

Aaron Ramsey has been a failure as David says. Our board have to learn from this and stop spending money on injury prone players. I’m not angry at Ramsey, more at our continued approach for injury filled players earning big wages. 💙

David Carslaw

Interesting chat about the penalty, but it's ok to be angry at Ramsey for the miss. Take David's point that no player goes out to intentionally lose a game, but from Ramsey's walk up from the centre circle, you could tell he did not care where his penalty went. If any other player had missed that, I wouldn't be angry at them, but Ramsey's attitude throughout has been rotten. Happy to showboat against the smallest teams when stakes are minimal, but any pressure or expectation at all and suddenly he's 'injured'.

Scott Watson

If Davis would be happy to play a reduced role, it absolutely makes sense to keep him around - he is still capable of contributing meaningfully on the pitch and offers an awful lot of positive influence on the squad off it. In these days of 5 subs and 60 game seasons, there are LOTS of minutes to share around. Over the last month we've almost used Jack and Davis as one spot in the team - sharing the minutes to manage fitness because neither of them is perhaps able to regularly play 90 (or 120) at full pelt - and when we do have 5 subs available for every match, that really doesn't have to be considered as a negative

Jamie Kirk

If we lose this final has the season went from success to failure overnight? League cup - Celtic League - Celtic Scottish cup - hearts Runners up on Europe final - rangers At the start of the season would anyone have said that’s acceptable? However, let’s blow Hearts out the water and give the players that feeling of lifting silverware. Let Gio take stock and build his team with his players and let’s right a few wrongs season. That’s the hope 💙🇬🇧

Graham McCallum

I was at the beam back stadium where there was an incident straight after the game that led to a bit of a stampede. Myself and 2 sons and 3 friends were unfortunate enough to be against a wire mesh barbed wire topped fence as the stampede poured through us and the fence. We were all trampled some worse than others, thankfully and luckily it seems to be only grazes and some really bad bruising. I still have no idea what caused the panic. Can anyone shed any light on what caused it?

Mark

I dont think it's any secret that Barisic is weak mentally. We've seen it repeatedly throughout his time here. Wednesday night for him was expected. Time to move him on this summer.

Martin Boyd

I’m hopeful we will see more than one or two semi finals perhaps even a final in what’s left of my life. A conference final would do , winning it would be brilliant. I’m 60 in a couple of weeks .

Gary Brown

Great pod guys. Filled with calm & considered analysis of the game, Rangers progress & standing in Europe and most importantly how we should view our future & our attitude should be in it. Thanks 👏👏👏 Like Martyn said, The last 4 years I'm getting to see a Rangers in Europe that I have always wanted to see - I'm pretty old now! Like David said I agree, now we CAN 'expect' in these competitions but similar success will only follow IF we show the levels of support we have done. The more we actually support actually works. Our progress the last 4 years is amazing, consistent improvement, and actually over achievement this year. Expected progress would have been Round of 16, given the 'playoff' with CL dropout teams. We CAN reach these levels again. Ramsey - high or wide is a 'miss', their GK saved his penalty kick. Their GK is to them what McGregor is to us - a hero who performs miracles. Singing (or lack of!) - watching on TV it was noticeable the Bears weren't as loud as expected, and surprising so. Hearing all the horrible conditions & circumstances explains why - that really should be the end of any outside criticism! Great to see all those, at the match & outside, not letting themselves or the club (& country) down with behavioural issues. Particularly well done to those with Struthian 'tolerance & santity' in the face of such terrible treatment and conditions in & around the stadium 👏👍. The 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿MSM no doubt sent more reporters to cover 'bother' than the ⚽️!! So glad all the Bears shoved those gleeful expectations & pre-written stories right back up their butts!!

Paul Kerr

After some time to reflect it's a shame we weren't a little more bold. I can't hold that against anyone, the margins were so fine on the night. It just felt like it was right there in front of us. Lots of great points, Barisic: It's hard to see it any other way. Some of the stories coming out regarding the stadium facilities are truly shocking. I'm glad we got everyone out safe as it seems that was a minor miracle.

David Rome

Agree on Kent. Woeful finishing. Should’ve have won the cup twice for us.
