A shocker of a display leaves Rangers with it all to do.

George Higgins

Excellent summary as usual David. Too down to offer my own views.

Don Currie

Cheers! Sadly, I agree 100%! Thanks to you & the H&H team!

Abysmal all over the pitch. In all departments.Scunnered.

Andy Elliot

Overly negative set up tonight, I agree. Gio got it wrong. Exacerbated by the players being too happy to switch it sideways rather than take any risks or do anything positive. In fact, no one on the park showed any leadership tonight to change the dynamic, which is a worry. This already looks like another CL opportunity lost, not by being beaten by a better team, but by our own inability to grab a game and own it from the start. Far too passive. Far too laboured. Extremely disappointing.

Greg Archibald

Need a big bounce back against Killie considering we have had 160/180 minutes of absolute dross the past 2 games. Anything but an emphatic win on Saturday will have me pretty worried for how this season is gonna go honestly.

Allan

Difficult not to control the game for the first 15 minutes. They sat back and let us pass it side to side, up the side then back to the defence. When they decided to come forward we lost.

Shaun Watson

Players have a bad day now and then, that's understandable. Managers get things wrong sometimes, that's fine. But Gio not changing it after it was clear he got it wrong, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? Stubbornness? Blindness? I just don't get it Also Kamara IS NOT a 10!

Sandy

We tried to play safe, didn’t work

John Davidson

Could actually see confidence draining as the match went on. Individual errors started with Jackamara and spread throughout the team. For once, Gio got schooled tactically and by a team that had players on loan from Accrington Stanley. Football is a strange game at times.

Tempo comes from central midfield. For different reasons neither Jack nor Kamara are capable of driving this forward. We need a complete rethink at the base of the midfield with more dynamic, fit options there willing to be tigerish in the tackle and able to progress the ball forward rather than side to side.

Lewis Wardrope

Did anyone else notice in Gio’s interview with premier sports, when he was asked about the system? Emma Dodds asked if one of the issues was some of the players not being used to playing in that system. And he said that is the same system we always play. But it’s not. We only played that system a couple of times last season for maybe the last 10-15 mins of european games to see out slender leads. We’ve never played that way for a full a 90mins, and I’d be surprised if we’ve even scored a goal playing that system?

Jimmy Price

Abysmal, absolutely abysmal! From start to finish, all over the pitch. Very very worrying. Another excellent post David 👍🏻👏 Don’t know how you do it. I’d be ranting like a madman.

Can tell it's only the 2nd game of the season passing was slack it would be good in a few weeks when we have everyone up to speed, new faces bedded in and more than one striker available. The 1st month of the season isn't a sign of how the season is going to go Celtic last season is the most recent example I wouldn't be worried just now and I'm glad I don't do social media anymore I can just imagine what it's like just now.

David Baillie

Excellent summary David. We were totally devoid of fight, confidence and belief. Gio talks a lot about respecting the opposition. I think we show way too much respect to other teams. Last night and Eintracht Frankfurt being the perfect examples. We need to adopt a more aggressive attitude right through the team. We’re far too soft 1 to 11.

Vivak Kapoor

Spot on summary. Lack of tempo a huge concern added to Manager being blind to the game last night.

Scott Christian

We played that exact system in all euro legs (home and away) from the start after the Dortmund match and in the final? The home games with this system we came out with purpose, vigour and an incredible drive forward for the 1st 25/30 minutes & were rewarded for it with 2 goals in each game during the first half.

David Kiltie

We are in a worse position than at this stage a year ago, thanks to that awful VAR call. We were as poor v Malmo at home as in Sweden but the Braga tie shows the potential to put in a much improved performance at home (which is obviously imperative). The lack of impact from many of our new signings has been remarked on but fans have been calling for a major refresh of the team for over a year. We have to expect some initial teething pains with a major turnover of staff. With respect to the cliche “a week is a long time in football”, at this point in the season a week could see a major advance in a player’s sharpness. Kent and Morelos should be back and Davies and Yilmaz got their first minutes last night.
