I know it's the least important of the 3 trophies, but I'm desperate for us to win the League Cup again. Been far too long, and it's a trophy I always think of as ours.

Pod is a bit of a meandering rant... I suppose you needed to get it off your chest

Great research as always. Thanks for the hard work guys

A more measured pod this time gents, don’t think anyone is under any illusion that things are rosy but at least some of the rhetoric was toned down this time! Hard to argue with any of what you guys discussed however can I offer a bit of balance in terms of Borna and his passing options. At the weekend and quite often in games he looks for a ball forward or inside and Kent is in no position to receive it and the midfielders aren’t even looking at him. A good number of times watching the game on Sunday, I saw him looking for people to show, to make a run or angle and they ghosted him. Yes, he tends to play safe but like we talk about with assists it takes two make a goal work, passing from deep is the same. I also saw him bomb past Kent a few times into space only for Kent to turn inside and give ball away so it works both ways, Kent can't complain when he does the same himself. That being said I do think it's time to bring in Ridvan and change things up, although with a bang our of form Kent on the same side does that put him on the back foot too? I’m starting to think too many of these guys believed their own hype from reaching the final and think they get to decide how the games played as opposed to tune into a new manager and his ethos. I appreciate there will be some at the club only due to the pull of SG and his sales pitch to them, but he’s gone and being a Pro means adapting and re-stablishing yourself in a different set up. IF and to me it looks like it might be the case, a few are in the huff as they aren’t being asked to play the same position, role or have the same responsibilities as SG wanted them to then they need to grow up. The past is gone and too many look like they are petulant and in the huff with each other and that’s the cohesion we have lost. Given our squad situation people are going to be asked to sacrifice their core game for the greater good. Guys like Sands do it and that’s why Gio likes him, clearly Wright also goes out and gives what the manager needs, I suspect that many aren’t featuring as regularly as Gio won’t play guys who aren’t willing to adapt or listen to him. I’m speculating and while this is a criticism I do actually like the guy, but Sakala probably is everything a Dutch manager hates. Mercurial, un-coachable, unpredictable and in terms of position undisciplined all things that we might be able to harness but probably not at a time almost every other unit in the team is having to be chopped and changed every game. While in Champ Man style we would all love to cram our two strikers into the team and push Alf wide or back a bit do we really believe he has the maturity or attitude to do it? I personally can picture his face when told he must support Colak and stay wide to supply, I can see it now in my mind clear as day and it's not a smile…. For me this goes back to the wider issue of a squad being given too much credit and retained too long. Some strong characters in the that team are simultaneously the guys supposed to be leading and setting standards while being well past it physically and bang out of form. Enjoyed the discussion agreed with lots but still think these players need to stop all the feeling sorry for themselves and start looking inward for form, performance and answers before we allocate blame anywhere else!

If the manager can't play at least half of the team that regularly sit in thw bench we really are in a poor place ...... tongue and cheek comment is Ryan Kent " needs loved " last seasons " Ryan Kent never hides " sad thing is we know he is capable of far far more .....

Borna getting it big time, whilst the midfield couldn’t pass their water.

Too many of our big players can only do it under optimal conditions when as a pro those rarely come along game after game. It's no real surprise the guys we like to think of as class aren’t really sought after at any great level. Kent wanting to feel good or be loved is smashing but it's got an academy utopia feel about it that smacks of immaturity and a lack of real understanding of what it takes to be a solid pro. We can't manage egos or live on past glories of this squad, if you aren’t performing you should be out of the team and if you can't self-motivate to get back playing at your best then perhaps, we should be moving guys on. I’m amazed at how many seem willing to accept poor Ryan isn’t happy with the tactics, personnel or Borna so how can he play his best. Too many of this team are happy to take the plaudits when they go out and spank teams that compared to our level are minnows but can't handle when teams sit in, defend with vigour and go after us with no fear. I never bought into an overall mentality issue, but I do think some of the players individually struggle when it gets tough in the trenches and their own form dips. Very few are able to play themselves out of it.

Interesting topic of getting kids into sports. When I was young I would constantly ask my dad to take me to the games and be unbelievably sad when I couldn’t go. I got my season ticket at 8 during the 96/97 season and had been taken to games prior to this when my dads mate couldn’t make a game etc. But when Rangers weren’t at home my dad used to take me to watch the Bens games or Pollock games if there was a free Saturday and I just loved going to the football. I was also heavily involved in playing football as a youngster for teams and also out playing till it was dark. I can’t comment on that now as I don’t have a kid but when I was a kid I never had the consoles and when I did I was limited to the time I could be on them. When I was a kid we used to go up the woods and make two teams and kick fuck out of each other and last team standing won. I don’t think kids do this anymore or even just go out to play as much. Would be an interesting topic for a pod
