From the absolute best ever to the abject worst in just a few short months. Winning 3-1 at home to RBL, was better than anything ever, the ultimate euphoric high better than Sex. I thought I was going to faint or die. My heart was bursting, my brain was Screaming and my legs actually gave way. Then <6 months later Watching my team surrender in cowardice, actually giving up and putting in zero effort at home to The Bin Dippers was disgusting. Our biggest defeat in 150 years. A pumpable offence. He should have been sacked at 10pm that same night. Thanks for some outstanding Euro memories but ultimately you made us the worst ever Champions League side of all time That's some Legacy, an absolute riddy. You lost the league twice in 6 months and seen us humiliated on two occasions againt the mutants, and learned nothing. Wilson out Next ASAP

KAD87

Think the board have a brass neck to be honest. Guy got us to UEL final, won a cup, champions league and they under invested (again). Gio had lost the dressing room and there’s no getting away from the poor results but this is on the board not just Gio.

C. J

This will be the making of Ross Wilson's career IMO. I still have faith in him, despite the wider fan view. Our squad is in a bit of a lopsided mess, but the rebuild was arguably stunted by an aberration of performances in Europe last year. We clearly hoped that the same lads would go back to the well once again, it was a gamble and it has not paid off. We now need some serious rebuilding, let's give Wilson one more stab at it. If it fails, he's failed. End of.

Steven Carmichael

Chris Jack reporting that backroom team will go too.

Paul

Right decision. I always thought it was weird with the assistant manager choice. As far as I'm aware he had never worked with Dave Vos before. Strange one. His backroom team seemed as uninspiring as he was.

Callum Dinnen

I think it's important to recognise that while we were 4 points clear, van Bronckhorst inherited a squad playing poorly under Gerrard and a squad which needed refreshed and missed out on investment in the summer (something which was entirely down to Gerrard refusing to sell players and failing to get past Malmo.) He's lost the job due to his own failings but I think in the discourse over Gio over the last month that people have overly romanticised Gerrard. Sacking the manager won't solve our problems - it's still the same core of players which have largely underachieved since Gerrard took charge.

Ewan Christie

Someone to bring back the bastardry required now, can’t afford another project..

Mr J K Murray

need not just a new manager but their backroom staff to be competitive again. Mr Gio Inherited a winning team & the demands met were not achievable for Gio & his staff. They managed' to attain success but not at the consistency level needed. Players also need to carry this can also. Becoming a demitasse with der zarf when not needed, hic. Liked Gio & his staff but they have not attained & these things happened, injuries, mug players, lets move forward.

Callum Gordon

Didn’t think of him until I saw the betting but is Dean Smith a decent shout ? Not sure Beale is the answer having watched a couple of their last defeats , just don’t like Dyche and the others seem out of our pay scale .

Blairo

My mate said he was so happy about the sacking. I felt a bit saddened though I wanted him out but I also felt relieved. Thanks Gio but it wasn’t working anymore. On to pastures new.

Craig

I’m with David, Wilson’s position should be under review as well!

Rona Bluebell

Excellent and quick pod. Much appreciated. Good points made too. Onwards and upwards. 💙🤍❤️

Campbell Maclennan

Thanks Gio.. Europe and cash, well done..... New manager Dyche for me....

Gordon Woods

Agree with David about Ross Wilson’s position should be very much under review. I also think Tavs position as captain should be under review this has happened more than once under his captaincy.

Callum Dinnen

Need to take slight issue with Colin's comment about teams fancying it at Ibrox domestically - our league form at home bar the Livingston game has been excellent. We've beaten St Johnstone, Ross County and St Mirren 4-0 and Aberdeen 4-1.

Tamus

Dave Vos - head of the famous Ajax academy - yet not a single Dutch kid signed or indeed loaned in - the Board and Harry Potter let Rangers down

aldo adens

Why tav? He has only been permanent captain under 2 managers. I dont get what you mean this has happend under his captaincy if you mean the team dropping stupid points then why not include more players as they along with the captain take or chose not to take the instruction the manager is giving them.

Gregg

100% correct about the surrendering a lead last year - the team performed at the same level domestically pre and post Gerrard. Celtic were pish then fantastically consistent

Callum Dinnen

Gio didn't inherit a winning team. He inherited a side that had 45 minutes to find a goal against 10 man Malmö at Ibrox and instead conceded twice. A side which scraped past one of the worst sides I've seen in Europe then lost their first 2 games in the group. A side which threw away points with alarming regularity in the league. A side which consistently failed in Cup competitions culminating in a 3-1 humiliation at Hampden to Hibs. He's lost his job due to his own failings but let's not over-romanticise the players or the previous manager to talk Gio down.

Graham Roy

In fairness I think teams in recent weeks have fancied their chances against us. There are a few dodgy performances in there not always reflected in the score line

aldo adens

At same amount of games played this time last season as it stands we are 1 point worse off 30 points last season at this time 29 points this time around but as you mention gerrard and his team had us 4 points ahead so in space of a year under his watch we are now 2nd 9 points behind so a point swing of 13. Amazing what happens when you let that lot play there games with no pressure on them as we have shown since he took over that domestically under his watch we cant be trusted to take maximum points which that lot know and have took massive advantage from and made a massive points swing.

Graham Roy

Personally would like to see a younger Scottish coach come into the set up. Not as manager but certainly part of the team someone like Neil McCann or KT. Dyche would be my choice as we need a bit of a Bas***d who can set a team up physically. I think we may have to sacrifice Europe for few seasons but if that means we can win big silver things I would accept for now!

Craig Mitchell

I feel a weight off my own shoulders today with the announcement. I'm glad we have some clarity now.

Scott Tolmie

Back to basics so Dyce for me

Robbie McCarroll

Need someone who will have our team disciplined, run through brick walls and also have an attacking philosophy. I can see individual traits in all the front runners but Hasenhuttl comes closest for me.

Andrew Hind

Don't trust this board to get next appointment right

Mr J K Murray

do not disagree Calum la, we won a league after how many players, managers ect, that is success how ever limited. Why we cannot produce 11 scotch players is beyond me

David

Michael Beale with KT as assistant.

David A

A fundamental problem facing a manager does not change by changing the manager,4 managers have left our club mid season in the last seven and a half years,3 sacked,so 18 permanent managers means nothing.I am gutted by this decision.Good luck to Gio in his next job where hopefully he`ll be appreciated more by his next club and fans.

Colin Mathie

Absolutely not! we complained about the displays under Gio, Dyche is just as bad.

Brian Hodgson

Genuinely disappointed Gio has left however I agree with the main analysis from the H&H team.

Scott Tolmie

Yip we couldn’t do the basics under gio and totally un organised, Dyce for me

George Mathieson

Wilson should have went first for the no hopers he has signed from watching you tube videos recently. Thanks for the memories Gio. The squad of players should take a hard look at themselves.

Stephen Fraser

I'm not sure I'm too fussed about who the next manager is. Anyone who makes us less predictable and who shows the right level of passion is welcome. All the best to Gio, and I sincerely hope we start shipping some of the players who really should have left at the start of the season.

John Smith

I think Gio with the right club can be a great manager. I just don’t think he suited our club as a coach. He’s playing days, the Scottish Cup and European Nights will eventually outweigh the faults. Correct decision but thank you for your effort Gio

Gregg

Think the new manager needs to be able to fix the problems that we have had since Gerrard - a playing style that allows us to create more chances and beat the low fucking block. Someone who can improve players, isn’t afraid to give young ones a chance and with some big cojones. Who that is - fucked if I know

Colin McL.

We’re in an era when decisions are made to appease the noise. Disappointed by the news, albeit arguably the correct decision. I hope it’s not a cheap caretaker who’ll be given the opportunity to ‘make his claim’ for the job.

aldo adens

Callum i think he ment he inherited a title winning team that was still basking in the glory of 55 at the start of the season but when gio took over we were 4 points ahead and i believe if the ex manager never left we would have won the title come end of the season. And as for team throwing away points with regularity thats exactly what gio with the squad he inhereted did also and kept doing this season which has left us 9 points behind and a squad that took 2 points from 9 against livi , st johnstone and st mirren all under his managment before footie stopped for wc. I aint over-romanticiseing for ex manager but we have regressed so far in space of a year under gio. Regarding last season in europe early on in season was shocking, what gio gave us in europe last season was excellent and an experience most bears will not forget. This season in europe was nothing short of an embaressment from the away leg in belgium to the debacle in champions league i dont care its the elite tournament or not no rangers manager should concede we cant compete after a shambolic display in holland and embaressment now of being worst team in that tournaments history should not be on a club like ours.

Graham Jones

It was the right decision, even though it felt like a witch hunt for some people on social media. Gio worked with what he was given, which was what Ross Wilson liked. Bio’s biggest problem was his constant protection of the board. No more Yes men.

Jayson Moore

If we had the cash - Hassenhuttle for me. Attacking style & looks to bring in youngsters & develop them. Would suit our (so called) player trading model perfectly as well.

Declan MacDonald

The Motherwell game in February was the one for me. Aberdeen, County, Dundee United and Motherwell should’ve been eyeopeners for everyone. After the SCF, the DoF should’ve used foresight to see that Gio wasn’t going to cut it in the SPFL. This isn’t said in hindsight either. I’ve said it on social media since the Motherwell game that the guy should’ve been away

Andrew Cairns

Marcelo Bielsa is the ideal candidate. He’d love it here as well.

Graeme McLeod

He'd suit our board and Ross Wilson to a tee too, given his lack of winning trophies.

Graeme McLeod

Ross Wilson has already failed. He's everything Southampton fans warned us he was - able to bring in transfer fees, but recruitment under him wasn't very inspiring. Not sure what you've seen that makes you think giving him another transfer window is going to be anything other than throwing millions away.

Dougie Jones

Not convinced about Bielsa. Bit of a hipster choice I feel. Clearly he's a legendary coach, idolised by the likes of Pep, but as Graeme points out above, there is definitely something missing.

Paul Kerr

Very tactful gents. Agree with almost everything covered. He was never coming back from the results and I am not going to lie, I was dreading more of the same after this break. Exciting times ahead rather than ominous clouds on the horizon. Speculation is always lots of fun but it has to be someone with presence. Gio's interviews could never hold my attention, If adoring fans aren't listening, disgruntled employees definitely aren't.

Neil Buchanan

I’m relieved as I thought the board were doubling down. After the embarrassing surrender at Parkhead he said ‘players didn’t do what I told them’ . We then heard it post match away to Ajax. When, after St Mirren I then heard those same words out his mouth again, you think how can the board hear that and let him continue? One year down the line and those players looked every bit as lost and hopeless as they did at Hampden when they failed against Jack Ross’s Hibs while their new boss looked on from the stand. If a year later players aren’t following your instructions they either don’t understand them (unlikely after a years coaching) or have no fear of not following them and letting they’d manager down.

Alexander Laird

Next the board will hopefully grow a pair and get rid of the elephant in the room aka Ross Wilson....?

KMc

Sad to see him go but totally understand it. The players let him down massively in my opinion - something that’s obviously became a pattern with this group. This is what they do. Some of our senior players should hang their heads in shame. These guys enjoy the adulation and grandeur of being Rangers players but clearly don’t enjoy the hard work and graft of winning trophies. 2 trophies going on 5 years now is embarrassing for any Rangers team. A culture change is needed in the playing squad.

Brian Johnstone

Martindale would be a great assistant to a new manager.

Spoon

Left it a couple of days to listen to this, David plus Colin is a bit too Mr Burns and Smithers for me usually unfortunately. Time was up mostly as the tide of opinion had turned, striving for consistent wins is great, demanding them or it’s all change every year or so isn’t a great plan for me. Have to say I chuckle at Gios Rangers being a hard watch or reliant on individuals that pretty much sums up my whole youth watching the team where we were hard to beat and had a guy in the team who could make magic in a McCoist, Laudrup etc so not really sure we ever had the free flowing football others close to home were more cavalier in adopting while we ground out leagues. Agree overall that change was needed which and given how bad it got it was unlikely to change significantly given all the issues. Really really hope we bin the Dyche or Martinadale talk or a return to any former Manager as that shows a real desire to get back with the girl who chucked us and no imagination. Teams might have sussed us, they had done under Gerrard, but it didn’t matter as the whole team blew most away through effort, application and talent. All of which they lack this season. Teams for exampleknow exactly how the unwashed will play, it doesn’t help most. Bit scunnered by the upheaval and just can’t get as excited as those who pushed for this. Might turn out to be a master stroke, think there are more risks than people want to admit however. Let’s hope who ever takes on the monster task of rebuilding the off and on field staff. Interesting listen but can’t say I agree with a lot of what is put across here and elsewhere, but when where would be the fun if we all thought the same.

Heart and Hand

Any need for that opening line? For a chap that often refers to ‘respectful’ debate/chat kicking off by insulting someone for no reason seems really discordant.

Spoon

Felt it was horribly sycophantic throughout to be totally honest, absolutely love the majority of H&H stuff but 40 minutes of gushing agreement doesn't work for me. An opinion and nothing more, poorly conveyed possibly and if I played the man not the ball, apologies but not to my taste.

Spoon

Apology genuinely tendered for that at least then, poorly expressed on my part.
