Play the strongest team, get ahead, then make subs. This squad and manager (having been here before) havent won nearly enough to make such changes to the line up and just assume we will win. Happy to have won but many errors made. Again.

Great pod gents. Find myself agreeing with the majority of what Martyn says. Few things, I would like to see Beale moderate his output at pressers as his exuberance to talk is in danger of making him look a bit daft. Apparently that was as close to our best first 11 as we have put out for a while, if that’s the case then we are in for some bumpy roads ahead as some of those in the team aren’t up to it. He perhaps need to stop all the sound bites and football guru chat and just focus on the teams performance, despite his understandable effort to protect ‘his’ players it's in danger of sounding a bit out of sync with what we see week in week out. YES he has chalked up wins and that’s what we absolutely need but this squad is still getting a pass for drastic underperformance or at the very least picking and choosing when to play more than they should. I’m tired of hearing how what they did wasn’t what they were told to as it has already got one guy sacked. Kamara is an empty jersey, he failed to make tackles, close down players effectively, pass 10 yards or play forward far too many times. Sands was apparently a midfielder according to the manager and should be played there so it beggars belief he drops back into defence unless playing one game in 7 days is now too much for the other defenders. Kamara shouldn’t be getting the protection he currently enjoys, never mind the game time as he is slow, often uninterested, jaded and negative yet seems to be a stick on for at least every other game. Unapologetic Colak fan boy here. For me with the lack of service and drive in the first half he struggled to carve anything out just like any forward would but still linked up fairly well. We change the directness and personnel second half giving I’m a partner, we go at them, players are direct, and he really showed his best with an excellent finish. We are far from rubbish, there are some positive signs but I think it's time to admit there are as many alarming issues that don’t seem to be going away in terms of how we attack some games, how some people consistently perform and how others stay in the team despite offering little. Beale can quite rightly point to scoreboard success but the eye tells you that it's at best 50/50 that form doesn’t catch up with us being just as likely as it all clicks and we kick on. One thing that was interesting in the pod was the acknowledgement that we seemed to hope someone made it happen for the team, a fair point and to be honest something I have been surprised was used as a criticism for Gio when it was what Gerrard and Beale did previously. We have always underhte SG / MB model been built on a stable base and the hope that Alfie, Kent or Tav pulls something out the hat, the team for some years hasn’t had enough goals across it. Kent after his ‘spell’ of scoring a few has gone back to just being the intangibles guy, Tav isn’t scoring near as many as previously and bar Tillman we have very little in terms of guys who can ‘make something happen’ which will catch up with us. It's not doom and gloom as guys like Raskin and Tillman look to have serious potential but I bet after today there will be some who have started to make their mind up about Cantwell, it's an unforgiving arena and we need far more from some, patience with others but mostly realism in terms of where we are as the Beale revolution for me hasn’t quite delivered what others seem to see. Thoroughly enjoyed the chat.

Standards are only tested when the correct action is going to cause you a detriment. Beale made the correct decision to let Thistle equalise, and I think it speaks volumes for the man.

Proud of the manager tonight. Takes the story away from the performance and I think he would say that he made too many changes that disrupted the team.

Mike Black

My thoughts? If we had lost or drawn the game it wouldn't have been because of Beale's decision. It would have been because we had played utter shite. Besides, if the ref has done his job and sent off the Thistle player it wouldn't have happened.

I feel that Beale probably did the right thing to take away the sting from Tillman, who had no idea what had a peeled. However, Tillman had every right to go for the ball, after their player stamped on him. Beale should’ve made a point that someone stamped on Tillman and nothing was done about it. Our players need protection, before we finish the season with a longer injury list then the one Beale inherited from GvB. The main thing fro. Today was that changing this line up isn’t helping consistency build. I get he wants to rest players, but we’re not playing midweek for this month. Making one or two is fine, but why we are playing Sands out of position, weakening the defence, and unsettling those around him is a strange one. Because of the changes we were really poor against a Championship team. It was avoidable had be played a more recognisable side, and didn’t spook everyone by starting Sands. Unfathomable when you consider King was on the bench, who is a better player.

I think the manager also pulled the ref out of a mess by being magnanimous instead of leaving him to work out what he was going to do next. From where I was sitting, Tillman seemed to look at the ref after he won the ball, and the ref put his hands out for “play on”. He’d completely lost control of the game at that point with his appalling lack of consistency to the point of letting Thistle away with red card challenges without even blowing for a foul. Didn’t think I’d see a worse refereeing performance than Beaton’s low water mark vs Hibs, but David Munro might just have managed it yesterday.

Graeme Brown

Also; how the hell did no one get sent off in the aftermath of that second goal? Two yellows and one was for Barasic!?!

Joe Baxter

it's about time Beale stopped being reactive and started to be proactive

Ronnie Brown

I've still no idea how I feel about this decision, but one thing I feel sure about is that history will look back on it kindly.

It was the correct thing to do to give them the goal, the only thing that makes u think twice is the fact nobody would do it for us.
