The sooner Rangers part company with Glen Kamara the better for all parties - get money in - buy Malik

I have no qualms with what Celtic did in the 94th minute in August 2021. Balogun was clearly at it, we were clearly trying to burn the clock and McCrorie was naive in throwing the ball out 30 yards from goal instead of launching the ball as far as possible out the park. In the opposite scenario, I would be raging if we gave the ball back.

Joe Ward

Why did barasic get booked after the goal and nothing was given to any of the thistle players never mind the stamp that went unpunished

Charles McIntyre

Wow Stevie……..no criticism of Michael Beale after that performance and after you state our 3 behind Colak were all similar with no legs. Sorry but MB absolutely has to take his share of the blame and to be fair I think he said as much.

Stevie

I said it was the wrong selection and perhaps he was making too many changes?! But I can’t criticise the team because I was happy with it and the changes, it simply didn’t work I thought I said that? If by criticism you mean swearing and general over reaction then you are correct, I was balanced 😁

Mike Black

I wasn't too concerned over the number of changes made but dropping Goldson to the bench results in zero on-field leadership. I am starting to come to the conclusion is that there has to be a conversation about Tav in the summer.

Graham Roy

I was content with the line up when I saw it however in hindsight there was no pace up front. There is an argument that some of these players are playing for the league cup final spot so in a way manager is giving them an opportunity! I am not going to lose much sleep over this game as in my memory we usually have a few dodgy games in a cup run when we win it!

Charles McIntyre

You said the team MB picked was no criticism of him. I don’t agree but hey no problem. Ultimately the team he picked and is 100% responsible for were terrible particularly in the first 45 mins. Credit to him for putting his hand up and basically admitting he got it wrong. I just don’t get why you think he shouldn’t be criticised. And no I don’t endorse swearing and general over reaction.

Dougie

Can't understand why the paying public in the stadium are left in dark as to why VAR gave that handball penalty. It just adds to the anger and disbelief of the fans. Watching it later on Sportscene I thought it was a joke decision. Colak was not facing the play and was in mid air when the ball hit his arm. The 'arm not in a natural position' bit of law is a joke here. What is a 'natural' ,position when you are mid jump??.

Stevie

Because I was happy with it before the game yesterday and said that on the pre show, I can say now it was wrong and didn’t work but I can’t criticise him because I agreed with it before hand. So sure it didn’t work, absolutely and that’s his issue, we did discuss that. But I don’t think I can have it both ways to agree then criticise him Thought we offered fair critique of Beale

Craig

Agree about Goldson. The covid seasons showed us how much of an influence Goldson is to our team, without the crowds you heard him basically calling the plays, telling the team when to push forward.

Steven L

Davie your bit on the “goal” is exactly the same as the rest of us. We are all hypocrites. Probably the right thing but wit the fuck is he dain.

James McConnachie

While not wishing to sound like the Lucky Charms Brigade across the city, what is that handball about? I’ve been pretty supportive of VAR but Colak was basically having a fag, ordering an Uber when the ball hit off him from behind. He would have needed to voluntarily pop out of existence to avoid it. If that’s an unnatural position, how do they think c@*#s jump? I can imagine defenders jumping for cross balls like they’re pogoing at a Sex Pistols gig from now on. Mental.

Alex Bryce

Stevie as the qualified referee doesn’t think Colak’s arm position was a “consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation”. That’s astonishing to hear.

Remaining high class is difficult in a low class country, but that’s why we uphold the traditions of our great club. Anyone doubting Beale’s choice are denigrating the name on the badge.

John Myles

I sit in the main stand right next to the union bears after thistles 2nd half of them left the stadium and the rest refused to sing, they normally have a statement by now does anyone know what’s happening with them. Ibrox is not the same without them even though that drum gives me headaches 😂

Callum Dinnen

2002 being the case in point. Definitely my fondest memory of winning the Scottish Cup, quite possibly my favourite Old Firm win of the 21st century, nobody cares that we needed a replay to get past Berwick in an early round.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the Flagship pod David & Stevie, its always interesting to hear your opinions and often enlightening as your access within the club gains valuable insight for the rest of us. I'll avoid all the hot topics. As fans we are very quick to assess, and perhaps too often criticise, our own team's performance. We do have to remember the other team on the park and what they do to play their game and disrupt ours. Team selection - pre-match I was pretty excited about this. Cantwell, Hagi & Tillman, three creative, attacking, often 'freestyling' players all capable of key assists and scoring. Swift creative passing more suited to Čolak's style. Raskin roaming behind the three to play quick, insightful passes from deeper midfield. A game vs 'lesser' opposition is certainly a good opportunity to try this tactic. Yes, it gives less width and pace but the 3 have quick football minds, can pass intricately, quickly so making the ball (& defenders) do the running. Unfortunately it didnt get the chance to work this time, Thistle allowed foul without punishment - the good old Scottish refereeing 'leveller'! As David said "you're a big team. they're a wee team, so the rules arent applied the same". It was blatantly obvious from my section all 3 lads were getting more frustrated and angry at clear fouls not given and the more often Thistle got away with it, the more often and worse it got. I'm not that guy who sits near you giving the ref abuse for 90 mins! But that ref was the most inept I've seen for a very, very long time. He had significant influence on the overall tempo & tactics of the game which badly affected our players and tactics. Yes we need to overcome such things, and didn't, hence the HT changes. But it helps to look and try to understand what we were trying. In a game where the actual rules of football are applied it just might work!

James McSween

Great pod guys 👍🏻 I wonder if Gio or Gerrard would have had the balls to do what Beale did ?

Catching up on this.. I still believe it was a legitimate goal. I’m all for sportsmanship but when their players are stamping on our players, wasting time and using elbows it kind of makes a mockery of it all. It could also be misconstrued as being arrogant ‘its ok we’ll still beat Partick’. Anyway its done now and its time to move on. Beale has a lot of Rangers fans to win over. He better win the cup. Its also a massive deflection on how sh*te we were and how poor Beale’s team selection was! That first half was on a level with some of the GVB performances.
