Celtic 3-2 Rangers Postmatch Reaction 8 Apr 2023

Awful reffing and self-inflicted wounds deny Rangers at Parkhead.

Stephen Rankine

We can remedy some of this-don’t know about the rest

Brian dowie

Kent should never play again. Clancy is a rat bastard

Steven McNeil

I’ve never agreed so much with a comment There isn’t much between the sides but there is enough. It’s both something to cling to and look forward, but also to look at and be frustrated with. Agreed with everything else except I would still keep Kent. Also it will be lost as you said but Tav reaching 100 goals is an incredible achievement. There is enough there today to make me think we can win the cup semi. But then maybe im just desperate for that to be true. We are the people! Try and enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend guys

Christopher paterson

So it turns out whilst we competed we need a spine new goalie new centre half someone to play with rashkin and ally McCoist

Ecky G

Agreed I wanted Kent to stay but we are just going to get more of the same from him. Not good enough.

Ally Parker

If in doubt, hit it out. Literally one of the first things you are taught when you start playing football. Also, if Morelos is done out a goal for grappling with Johnston, why is there no penalty for us when Ryan Jack is being bear-hugged at a corner early in the second half.

Gordon Rennie

Why is Furuhashi given his first name and no one else does? Refer to him as furuhashi please, hate that "kyogo" wee pet name.

Jamie Gilchrist

Someone once said to me: “if you’re going to pick a fight…make sure its the right fight to pick”…

Gordon Rennie

Not sure why that's relevant to what I've said? I've had this view since the wee media darling/diving cheat has signed. I cringe every time I hear one of our fans use the wee pet first name

Lynsey Roddy

I’m done with Kent & have been for most of this season. He’s been poor for the best part of two seasons & ‘am fed up getting told ‘he doesn’t hide though.’ He flatters to deceive every bloody week & defenders know he’s no threat. We know that! Who can honestly say that if he’s through one on one with the keeper they believe he’ll even hit the target never mind score.

William Alston

Maybe the great orator in the chairman's seat could come out and call out the officiating, dignified silence doesn't work

David, what do you think of Beale’s in game decision making? For me it feels like both him and Gerrard made subs way too late. Yes, tactically he got the game right. But in game decisions cost us today (as well as the mistakes). Don’t want to be harsh on Beale but am I the only one who thinks that we had lost control of the midfield after about 50 mins? For me that was the area we needed to change after they scored to make it 2-1 on 62. Instead we waited until 70 to throw on sakala…3 mins later it’s 3-1. You can’t through sakala on if there is no mid to front play. He will be ineffective. He was ineffective. Then it goes 3-2 on 79….we make three subs and give them 3 mins + injury time. I mean surely we have to do better than that?

John leitch

We are not as far behind the Gallowgate Galaticoes as they think We are getting nearer

KAD87

It’s brutal eh? Why give lundstram 8 minutes? What’s the fucking point?

Alan Shaw

This week I have mostly been watching the fast show

Calum Stankey

Its the same old situation as you say David. You can change as many managers as we want. Until we have players who capitalise on attacking moments we'll win nothing. A ridiculously terrified/coward of a referee will aid this too. Thats on the board imo. They put relentless pressure on the refs and we sit doing nothing.

Heart and Hand

I thought Sakala should have been on at HT. The midfield though - Lundstram and Kamara bring the options didn’t fill me with confidence.

Mr J K Murray

some of the players playing as if they are waering body cams, hic trust we buy in some states',& will be glad when some players leave, felt for our no1 today, listen to ''you know'' [i dont know lol] cast of events, made thousands happy, no 100's thousands, no millions happy, lol,he is quite bitter underneath even when everything is laid out on a plate for him in Great Britain and Northern Ireland,

Tamus

Ryan Kent is an imposter, as is Kamara, Alfie is a fat mess, Lundstram is abysmal, Greegs is older than dust, Matondo is embarrassingly poor, Davo won't play ever again and Hellander is the walking dead - what's that in a combined wage? Every one of them needs to go along with Arfield, Mandy Awfiebore and Jon McLaughlin - thanks Ross you absolute helmet

stephen

Beale has done an amazing job to get this team to the level it is at but to kick on from here will take wholesale changes in personnel. Wilson's dealing in exits will be as equally important as his incomings. This transfer window RW has to excel he has zero room for anything less than flawless.

Billy Forrester

5 million for Tillman, no thank u. Great player against SPL dross, fails in the big games and workrate is poor, thanks but not worth 5 million of our budget when we need other areas strengthened like a deadly striker who scores given a sniff, like they have in kyogo. Tillman is a luxury we do not require

Christopher paterson

Result today whilst horrible brings clarity and this tells us we need a keeper a centre midfielder a right winger and a number 9 spine required

Christopher paterson

None of this Beale pretty much set up with the right team and the right attitude over to the board

Christopher paterson

£10m easily achievable in summer plus investment £259k in wage freed up not rocket science

Stace1ofthePeople

Although I hate losing, especially to them I'm not too pissed off about today's result as I half expected it anyway and am so fed up with this team, the substandard performances and results. Whats apparent is wether we like to admit it or not is Celtic are a better team than us right now and have been for a while. Due to many reasons/factors. Our front 3 do not score enough and are not clinical enough, I love Kent and Morelos but time is up we need better. Sakala/wright are squad options and not gonna win us major trophies. When we are chasing a win and I see wright coming on I just think to myself wtf? Chasing a goal I felt arfield should have come on. Don't see what wright and colak bring to the party with 5-10 mins to go but Beale doesn't have many options. Although one of tavs critics at time I felt sorry for him today as he was one of the very few who looked like he cared and wanted to win the game. However over the course of the season he too has been guilty of shite performances. I've never been so over this team and a season as I have right now. We need fresh blood.and trophies asap as the second best is getting too tiring and a bit embarrassing now

Christopher paterson

As most fans/subscribers and indeed a guy who likes to be calmed down looking forward to this being put in context to us all shelling out circa £1000 for various things next year and hoping not to be the plucky losers

Stace1ofthePeople

Add on roofe/wright?.. would you keep jack based on current fitness? Do you want to continue with barisic at LB ? I like him but very one dimensional and we only play with one person in the box so nobody on the end of his crossing. ridvan not starting?dunno what's going on there. It's worrying how much investment we need

Joe Bradshaw

We can talk about not scoring enough goals or strikers not being clinical but we need the defenders to to their job to. We defend properly today then we win. Davies is decent when we have 70% possession but not when he has to actually defend

Stace1ofthePeople

Agree,.both ends of pitch performances aren't good enough

Stace1ofthePeople

Have to disagree. In what has been an absolute abomination of a season. Tillman has been our best player arguably and scored many good goals, been creative and imaginative in the final third, something that we lack massively! Remember he is only 20 years old, We cant expect him to control every game for 90 mins however he has buckets of skill and potential and will be a great investment/return as was bassey. I think we would.be mad not to try buy him

Alex Strathearn

David every single point you made in your summary was 100% perfect. I actually thought we were decent today and deserved more out the game, but you know what "same old same old" certain players not turning up when you need them . So called big players perhaps holding out for contracts, let them move on for more money on a weekly wage and playing to empty stadiums, if that's there ambition in football why are we even entertaining them, chase them out our club and make a statement to all football players, you want to play for Rangers then earn the right to do so. You want pounds notes, play in England fight for relegation. and look to others you left behind. Many have regerted and far better than you WATP

Graeme Robb

What’s with the rolling up one short leg? Alfie and Kent today, and Alfie for a long time prior. Is this what the cool kids do? Or is it some signal to prospective new employers?

Coxy

Question; assuming it is a £5.5m fee for Tillman, would you spend that on him in the summer or try a bid to bring Billy Gilmour home?

Billy Forrester

He has not shown up in any game versus them and that’s is where I judge him, that’s where it counts, he can score goals against the diddy boys but he has done zero against that lot and for that type of outlay it’s a punt and not one I would be comfortable with as that’s a huge part of our budget which we need to spend in other key areas like replacing kent and alfie

Stace1ofthePeople

But it's the diddy teams we also need to routinely beat to win the league? I totally get what you mean about showing up in big games but don't think we can judge a 20 year old on a few poor performances against Celtic. Many of our players have failed to turn up against the bheasts not just Tillman. You're saying against the is where you judge them? Would you lose to Celtic 4 times a season if it meant winning the league? Bare in mind (these figures aren't exact).. what did we pay for Davies ? 3/4mil? Matondo3/4 mil? Ridvan not sure again was it not 3/4 mil? No idea what colak cost... 7mil for Kent, Tillman is going to score way more than Kent has in his time with us and that's what we need. People who can put the ball in the net. I genuinely think not buying Tillman would be a wild decision.

maccalsa

Not sure we are as close as others hope. If you look at both teams and you ask which team has gears they can go up to if need be, it isn't us

Gary Shaw

In terms of ability there isn’t a million miles between the two teams but when it comes to legs and intensity then they are well ahead on that front….the energy of the side needs to be addressed big time in the summer and that means the likes of Morelos,Kamara,Lundstram,Hagi ,Tillman need to be let go,moved on,shipped out, whatever way you want to put it
