- Saudi Arabian football

- what ifs and should have beens

- and much much more

Greg

If the Saudis can take players that would have previously gone to no mark English teams then I'm all for it, the epl, the fluffers and "brand ambassadors" really don't like it.

John Buchan

Can’t see a Born Again Pentecostal Christian like Fashion in Saudi

Well said Canmy I feel the football world has gone mad. Less than a year ago we had endless articles from the English media about Qatar. Now nobody seems to want to touch on the morality is Saudi. The still have beheading and stoning people to death ffs You’re missing the end game… - World champions league - Euro super league happens but effectively as a domestic rival to EPL Telling that FIFA and PSG opposed super league. They knew it couldn’t be an alternative to the Champions League it had to be a part of making it irrelevant Only losers are UEFA and smaller European clubs. That scenario suits Middle Eastern and American owners of English clubs This is why we need to keep doing well in Europe and have a chance of being in that Euro Super League (also think that’s part of their thinking on public proclamations Rodgers is there to make them better in Europe)

What if Jim McLean becomes Rangers manager in the early 80s? I think he is a success. Makes most of young players and wins trophies. Probably signs catholic players too but fails to bring the fans with him on that and has endless arguments with the media

Tamus

What if..... What if Connor Goldson did his job and cleared his lines in the final that's a bigger what if than Kents. Kent mis-hit, Goldson made a decision

Ryan Lynch

The Ryan Kent "what if" is the one for me

Mr J K Murray

Fashion Jr has changed his profile image on twitter, quite treasonable too, been mugging him to a house, car, ect & he behaves like a narcissistical chrisitian, gerrards now 4th best paid manager in the football world, would he take hop, skip & jump fashion Jr, & if things go stale he can travel 70 mins to Bahrain if he needs a few days bevvy, hic,

Jamie

Anyone not welcoming Saudi money is mental. The levels of money they have are cannot even be compared to our previous owners. The background checks on these individuals and fit and proper test’s would far exceed anything we have had before. The Saudi’s wouldn’t be able to do what Murray, Whyte and Green ect done from a moral point of view. They have enough folk against them morally as it is so they couldn’t afford any more unrest or fans to protest against them. They need to get every business decision right. Newcastle is a prime example of how it can work.

Rona Bluebell

I’m still nursing that Gary Stevens Roy Aitken throw in as a what if. It was our ball!!!!

Thomas Blair

1 result - 3-2 loss at ibrox in 2018. Would have made for a very interesting run in and probably have changed the outcome of the last 5 years.

Mark

As opposed a chilled out Souness who didn't fall out with anyone? 😂😂

Mark

Slightly different one. What if Covid hadn't cut the season short? Would Gerrard have lasted? Would 55 have happened?

David_Davy_Dave

The wildcard there is how clubs are when they restart? Do Celtic have focus cause if it’s the same mess they began the following season there is an argument we at least make it competitive even if overhauling the lead would be too much

Tamus

Who Goldson? Not the way I remember it at all. It still wakes me up in a cold sweat

Russ

Looking back I don't think we realise that we could've won a treble under Gio to be fair, and maybe should've? The points we dropped in the league in the second half were criminal and I think with the gap in quality and 5 subs it was on in hindsight, as well as a favourable matchup in the uel final. That would be my What If..a fit Roofe and Morelos and it could've been an all timer season, perhaps still should've won a double regardless. Or am I howling?

Fraser Hutcheson

What if Allan McGregor hadn’t gotten injured in the 07/08 season? Would we have won the quadruple? Not blaming Neil Alexander, we all know the great SFA shit on us but McGregor was on fire before he got injured v them.

Hoggy

Gerrard was ready to go post Hamilton and Hearts IMO. He looked broken

David_Davy_Dave

Souness had absolute loyalty and admiration from our support. McLean wouldn’t have had that which is why his arguing with media, authorities etc would probably have been a bigger negative

Tom McDavid

Talking of “danger rides”, I’m listening on the Greyhound Bus from Memphis to Nashville.

Teddy Lasso

The Saudi stuff had me chuckling.. They could literally create a UEFA competitor and buy every player around and still have plenty change. It won't be where players go for a pension for long.

Steven L

Biggest what if. Kent vs Frankfurt. Been watching rangers from the early 90s Kent miss is the biggest. We have never had a better chance in the modern era to win a European trophy.

Douglas MacDonald

Great show folks. Ps Anna Maria Island...beautiful spot 👌. Enjoy the rest of the holiday Hoggy!!

Graham Jones

People have made a lot of Man City and PSG taking blood money, so I don’t think Newcastle fans can throw that one around. Let’s be honest, Newcastle fans thought Ashley was a good owner until the very end, so they will have no problem accepting one of the most barbarically regimes on the face of the Earth. I hope they never come anywhere near our club, because it would be a stain we could never wash off.

Gregg

There were mistakes in the Aribo goal as well - that’s football.

Tamus

Thanks Gregg, I'll PM you next time I have my own opinion just to make sure it's OK with you - enjoy yer night mate

Dave Fleming

Think they got the tweets the right way round re Balogun- it was a clever way to announce it!

GM

Another “what if?” for me is also from the Europa League final. Tavernier free kick, late in the game, maybe even injury time. Clears the wall and for a split second I thought we’d won it. Of all the amazing free kicks he’s scored for us, he was so close to the ultimate one.

Craig Fryatt

What if McCall took us up? With that batch of players getting extensions I think we would have been lucky to make top 6. Great show would love to pop in particularly for how the Saudi shenanigans will effect football going forward

Andrew Hillis

Excellent pod as always lads! 👍🇬🇧💙

Cameron McIver

Great show as always lads. Frankfurt game is the obvious one to change but the result I would change would be the first 2008 game against Celtic at PH which we lost 2-1. If we won that game then we almost certainly would’ve won the league and automatically qualified for the champions league the next season (and avoid the Kaunas embarrassment as a result). Plus I think we would’ve given ourselves a much better chance against Zenit in Manchester because we could have rotated a bit more and avoided having to play our first team in the league every 2 days! Who knows if we still would’ve landed in the same place as we did in 2012 but I think getting the champions league cash and keeping Cuellar would’ve put us in a much better position going forward from summer of 2008.

Scott Duncan

What if moment - we beat Malmo in 2011 and make the play-offs then group stages. Does history change?
