"The performance was the same as Raith Rovers and Partick last season". Aye, it was. Thats the issue. Its mince. Your the manager Michael, sort it or you cant expect the fans to be excited and be full of praise.

Gareth Williams

No idea what Beale is trying to do with this team? I felt he had us playing well last season cup games aside. Now we seem to have ripped it up and started again and look lost!

Ralph Wiggum

To quote Mr Hogg towards the end of Warburton's reign, we're having our intelligence insulted here. Stop telling us we're playing fast attacking football with the handbrake off. The fans aren't stupid and he's treating us like we are. I'm starting to think Beale is simply just telling us what he thinks we want to hear.

Charlie Nicolson

Hagi was a breath of fresh air when he came on. Clearly Cantwell will be selected but Hagi threatens Lammers' starting berth

Conor Brown

I came to that conclusion when in the space of 7 days in April we were "Signing 10 players" "Signing one or two" and "Happy with our squad and expect news re Kent and Morelos in the next few days"

Drew Hyslop

I find it pretty bad management if Hagi is the only player not to miss a training session in pre-season and to get the amount of game time he has. He was got to be more involved going forward or we are going to lose him.

Jamie Tough

So far we are not any better than we were last year. Last season we started similar and were all convinced it was going to click and just got progressively worse. Hopefully Beale gets it right and we push on but not overly optimistic and what I've seen so far.

Simon

I’m expecting a shit season. Trying to under promise myself and hope that the team over deliver.

CJT

Long week? 2 home games against very beatable opposition and and very winnable away European tie. We'll be playing 3 times a week regularly against better than what we've faced this week soon. We also need to be better than we have been this week soon. Opposition playing above themselves, credit to them, their goalie played well etc etc etc. Getting boring now. He's right that we do need to start taking chances but if he thinks that's the only thing needed to fix this I'd be really worried. We have fairly serious defensive concerns. There is a clanger almost every week and basic set pieces cause chaos. Worse is the pedestrian pace until some in game set back kicks us up the arse. We're not yet in a bad position but we are showing all the signs of the problems that have put us in one in recent years. He needs to find a solution. Massive 4 games coming up for our season and to be fair for him. Genuinely hope he has the answers.

Craig

I really hope there's more to come from Sterling in an attacking sense. If he really is the sort of Jon Flanagan style 1995 full back that he looked liked today, why have we signed him for our system?

Allan Osborne

Thanks for summarising what Beale said. It saved me listening to his audio because to be honest he sucks the life out of me. It's all just soundbites - "handbrake off" for instance, when the evidence before our eyes says it clearly isn't. We all hope it's going to click but we hoped that last season and it didn't happen then, and nothing so far says it will this time either. We're slow, boring, turgid and a drain to watch. Is it being unreasonable to expect a better performance than what was offered up again today? I think not. Let's hope it does get better but it doesn't look good at the moment.

Heart and Hand

No it’s not unreasonable. We should be more enjoyable to watch. Europe, okay, jus win. But at home v lower league club? Nah.

James Anderson

Hagi make a good point and does appear to be frustrated at his lack of game time... One player that Beale appears to be determined, no matter what, to shoehorn into the team when and where possible is John Lundstrum...time will tell, but fans aren't stupid, they can often see what a blinkered manager can't.

Niall MacKay

I appreciate you try not to criticise too much. Sometimes it can feel like people aren't satisfied unless they're moaning and I really appreciate this pod as a space where you'll generally give a constructive response. That being said... I really struggle to elevate Dessers above a, say, Steven Thompson just now. I'm really not seeing it in him at all. Obviously hope it's just settling in time, however being starved of a Rangers team with our proper swagger for so long makes me fear the worst/catastrophise. He's not alone either, Lammers and Danilo haven't exactly shone. All three seem like strikers trying to play their way out of a slump already and I really can't understand it.

Heart and Hand

I think Danilo has looked decent. Lammers today did very little and what he did, he did badly. Dessers has shown glimpses of quality and glimpses of the exact opposite.

Niall MacKay

Danilo definitely looks the pick of the three on current showings. Lammers looks a bit lost and I just see so many moves breaking down because Dessers looks up and miscontrols as a result. There is still plenty of goodwill and chances in the tank for all of them, of course. If we come through the tie vs PSV and stuff that lot on the 3rd then opinions will shift dramatically.

Neil

Like others here trying to be optimistic and I really hope to eat my words but at the moment I’m just hoping Hagi stays around for the new manager and re-rebuild after Xmas.

chris smith

We just play too slowly. We are boring, concentrating on ball retention. We create a lot of low quality chances hence we make it look like opposition goalies play a blinder against us every week. The fact that we find it difficult to score early means that the loss of a goal is magnified in significance … going behind every second game etc. its as if our ‘plan’ is simply to grind the opposition down eventually by moving them around and/or boring them to death. If we score early we win, if we lose a goal in the final quarter we struggle. Its the same no matter who the players are. Its the system that needs changing.

Spoon

For 3-5-2 or Europe possibly? I thought he did ok, we have been cutting far more experienced players slack and the boy deserves a chance and a run to see how he fits. Your spot on though about the system, if we don’t use him in a way that plays to his strengths why sign him.

David Marshall

Och yesterday wasn't that bad when you think about it
