David interviews the fabulous Davie Herd about his new book "1977/78: A historic season" and his ongoing passion and commitment to document the history of our great club. For all Rangers fans, and not just those of a certain age, this is a much-needed tribute to a magnificent Rangers team and a wonderful book

After a poor season and two games in - people were calling for the managers head?? There is hope. Good listen lads

David Herd

Thanks David for inviting me back on again, and I hope anyone who reads the book finds it enjoyable.

Gordon McKay

Great listen David. Can’t wait to download the book. Really interested to hear you say something I’ve thought about - that the team was really a 4-2-3-1 years before we had ever heard of that.

Alan Bradley

Great pod chaps. Looking forward to reading the book.

Tom McDavid

Logs onto Amazon. Great listen

Bob MacCallum

Great pod. Well done, the 2 Davids. Brought back great memories. Can't wait to read the Gillick book. Go to it, David.

Martin Boyd

Great season , super team to watch , goals , goals , goals well it seemed like. Russell, Cooper and Smith were superb almost all season. Christ just realised I’m older than both of you, 😳.

Andy Barnett

Excellent show gents. Born in 1980 I only ever heard about this season or watched on Rangers Gold tapes. Fascinating 👍🏼💙

Alex Dingwall

Great pod guys, well done and I look forward to reading the book also. 👍

Allan Osborne

Thanks guys, really enjoyed listening to that. I've got all three of David's books and this is as good as the previous two. I'm the same vintage as the two of you, born in 1964, so this was one of THE seasons of my youth, probably the big one more than any other. Of course the two classic games from that season everyone remembers are the 3-2 win over them at Ibrox and that battering of Aberdeen by 6-1. My main memory of that one is going into school the next day and telling a pal we'd cuffed Aberdeen 6-1 the night before and he was basically calling me a liar or it must've been the reserves that played (he was a Morton fan so there wasn't much hope anyway lol). But how could you discuss this season and not mention that game at Fir Park?! 0-2 down, pitch invasion, back to 2-2 before half time and blew them away 2nd half. An absolutely sensational game in a packed ground (25,000 or thereabouts? You're lucky to get 8,000 there now) with some brilliant goals and all the controversy you could ask for! I remember Alex Cameron in the DR demanding the points get taken off us or the game replayed (I'm pretty sure the league or the SFA ordered a replay but the other party ignored it and it was forgotten?) - all in all it was some match. Then the LCSF v Forfar which was almost a disaster, and it wouldn't be the last time they caused us trouble either. Like I say, brilliant listen guys and I'm looking forward to David's book on Torry Gillick when it comes out 🙂
