Can't be the only 1 hoping that was breaking news and Beale had been sacked. I hope big strider is on flagship tonight. Lot of time for him but couldn't agree with him yesterday. Be a good debate

Rod

Why does it take a HT team talk to tell a defence to push up the park, is he really unable to fix that while the game is going on?

Stuart McNiven

Beale's too-much-information press conferences didn't really bother me as I had confidence in him, and if it all worked out it would look like a masterplan. It's fallen off a cliff so spectacularly that all the contradictions, all the far-fetched justifications, all the 'fine margins' stuff and the lack of pattern/identity paints a picture of a guy that's way in over his head.

chris smith

Not sacking him now is just filling a hole in the dam with your finger Mr Bennet … unsustainable in the medium term never mind the long run

David Carslaw

The foul decision has already been explained. They've got their get out of lagerthingy moving to play the ball and Dessers blocking his leg. It's a nonsense of a decision but the club complaining about it now will do nothing. We need to be proactive with this sort of thing in exactly the same way they are. Get friendly ex players out in the media prior to the games.

Alan Weir

Pass on my best wishes to the car pod podders - they took a pummelling yesterday.

james whyte

McGregor had the full of Ibrox to get on the ball and do as he pleased yest 1st half. Took to HT for Roofe to seemingly drop onto him. No in game changes being made isnt acceptable when things are so obvious.

Scott Tolmie

Edgar, you are spot on, we don’t need to do a Beale and over think it, absolutely no chance Beale wins a league, we will plod along until 10-12 behind and then change it, it’s what we do.

Greg Archibald

Had stuck on The Bends this morning as it felt appropriate, great minds I suppose!

Allan

We've played 4 games and lost 2. That's not acceptable.

Allan

With basically the same group of failures (on the pitch) why are we expecting a different outcome?

LMcGrath

Well that was a thoroughly depressing listen.

Stewart Thomson

Far, far too many of these post mortem Mondays after a game against them in recent times David. No wonder there was that reaction in the ground at full time. To actually contrive to lose against that eleven they put out is border line scandalous. Any goodwill left went right out the window. The manager doesn't have a clue, the new signings with the exception of Butland look utter muck and let's just say there are a few season campaigners in our team that I've reached the end of the line with as well. Same old mistakes from the same old faces. The anger yesterday has subsided into despondency looking forward in all honesty.

Boab hanvey

I hope and pray for a breaking news pod later tonight

Ryan Stewart

Big Andy on the flagship? Tell me Rangers lost at the weekend without telling me 😉 My only hope is that Bennett and Bisgrove are more ruthless than Park and Robertson were although I won’t hold my breath. When Ibrox turns like it did yesterday there’s only one ending. Please for once spare us the long, slow, painful death Rangers.

Boab hanvey

yeah usually agree with the big man but yesterday jeezo man couldn't believe what I was listening to.

David Scott

Do the board take the chance he gets us 3 points at St Johnstone ? or it goes badly and we are even more screwed, surely the players must wonder what is going on to....He needs to be relived of his duties Birthday or not.

Alex Hood

When are we sending Hoggy over to Auchenhowie to “have a word” with the squad?

Jim Smith

Still trying to work out MB tactics yesterday or lack of them. It’s a long way back for him, and I’m not sure he can turn this around. Depressed Loyal.

Fraser McMinigal

Was thinking this morning. The only new signing that gets pass marks is Butland. And I think that’s because he’s not having to adjust his game to fit into beales rotten system. His job as goalie doesn’t change. Any way Beale out!

james whyte

Agree with everything you've said. Unfortunately. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who does love the Club. But, that doesnt win lge titles and his appointment looks like being a disaster. I only hope the Club act and find someone who will lead this group onto success. And success is the lge title which i dont believe Beale will manage to do.

Brian Gallagher

It's the "fine margins" argument from the manager that I find most concerning. Time and time again - and not just at Rangers, we see fine margins aggregate across a season and accumulate into a massive chasm that is *always* symptomatic of a larger structural/systemic problem. I understand at times that fans can hold onto such slender margins in the hope of an easy solution; even the board who will have invested money and emotion into a particular appointment, but I really hope this new board can show the courage of their early conviction and make a proactive decision here. I don't believe in fate, but sometimes, under the right circumstances stories write themselves. If left untouched this one only ends one way.

Stewart Robertson

Promised myself that I wouldn't have to hear the word "cathartic" this season.

David Baillie

MB bemoans the fact that the press wasn’t working first half because the back 4 were playing 15/20 yards too deep. It’s a fair point, we could all see it in the ground. My frustration at that comment is that they are all playing right in front of our technical area where he is standing doing absolutely nothing about it. Why doesn’t he communicate to the back line to push forward FFS. That comment and similar statements simply make the manager look ridiculous. A Pedro/ Murtie and dare I say it McDowall like performance from the manager yesterday. Having said that I thought the reaction towards the players at the end was over the top.

Tom Martin

David your summation is spot on. After 13games already he has demonstrated he has not got a clue and i think some of his new players may already be thinking that as well. Last season back 4 was poor but that has been the foundation he goes with. Front 6 players have been a merrygoround where everyone is everywhere so nobody can find anyone. Gone are the days when you played at our place the ball belonged to us so a make shift Celtic had the ball with McGregor having freedom to play as he wished. The Board are now in a bad place but the cost of delaying as we did a year ago will only increase. Act Now to retain some chance of a decent season outcome with the domestic scene as priority.

Graeme McLeod

Not so sure a "genuinely nice guy" undermines Gio the way he did. He made comments to the press about how Gerrard's management team would have won the league the season they left. He came up to negotiate for the job while Gio was still in place, drinking in the Louden with fans before sitting in the directors' box at the Aberdeen game - that day was about getting the fans to call for him to be appointed. Sorry, but that's the behaviour of a politician - or snake, to be less diplomatic - rather than a "genuinely nice guy" who would have known the pressure Gio was under.

Scott

Let’s hope the week prior to next OF we can have ex Rangers players each day out in the mediasphere informing seeking referees do their job properly sighting the previous 2 meaningful games where Rangers have taken the lead with both legitimate goals being chopped off.

Daniel Ward

He just isn’t the man and I hope we are looking for another manager very soon because we will be ripping that most successful club signage down very soon if he stays. Not good enough, tactics were baffling and don’t line up to his words, substitutes were a disgrace and the majority of his big signings this summer aren’t good enough.

Mark Rennie

The biggest problem for beale is the vast majority of fans never wanted him in the 1st place, it was a lazy appointment from the board, and if someone can explain why we're starting a 6 million pound striker on the bench every week I'll shake your hand. Can we also speak about raskin who's not kicked his own arse all season. Danillo, dessers and cantwell are now turning into those players that do their talking on social media rather than on the pitch. I posted on my twitter on the 22nd of November last year I didn't want beale and it was the laziest and easiest appointment available, I mean he was hardly pulling up trees at qpr before he joined with 2 wins in 10. For me he has to go during this break, hibs sacked Lee Johnson to give themselves are better chance for the season, we need to do the same. Sick of hearing this 4 games pish aswell? He's seen us not make the champs league. He's seen us losing the league Cup final. He's seen us get knocked out the Scottish Cup. Are people forgetting he was the manager last season also? He's not won a meaningful game he's faced.

Leslie White

David is your alias Sid Vicious! Lol all you saying from yesterday, reflects all our doubts. Look up Rangers v Referee Callaghan from the sixties, the only time our Board had balls to take a Ref on and he got a two months suspension.

Colin

Loved your post last night straight from the heart unlike the post match pod cast what in the name off feck were those lads on Davie 😂😂😂😂

Douglas Innes

If Dessers goes down under the contact fro. Lagerbielke who gets the foul ?? The amount of folk who have jumped through " hoops " to side with referee is mental

chris smith

This is an interpretation. It is not definitive as the opinions of various ex refs has shown. Lagerboy was not in the act of passing (there was no one to pass to as he turned in that direction). Moreover if this rule was applied in the box, the number of penalties would be reduced significantly … while defenders ushering the ball out of play while shielding it from attackers and going down in a heap on contact should - under the same logic - be penalised. Dessers wasnt looking to initiated contact, he was playing the ball and was fouled by Lagerboy.

Billy McCormack

Fuck off Beale, Yesterday was the final nail in the coffin for me, Beale is not taking us forward, we've gone backwards, and I'm sick of his bullshit talk, same with the players, same shit different day.

Graeme Smith

And even for the first ten minutes of the second half, we were just as bad. Therefore, it is safe to assume the team talk at half time made no impact whatsoever.

Graeme Guthrie

How can we work on understanding between the midfield and strikers when he hasn't played the same line up 2 matches in a row? Load of pish. Clueless

David P

It's at times like this I need David Edgar. He's like a Rangers agony uncle 😃.

Douglas Innes

Madden has retired and no longer is officiating

David P

That's when you know things are bad. When guys like Andy that will literally find a positive in anything start to turn. I have no hope for Alex Staff, I genuinely think if you murdered his entire family he'd be at the police station explaining how what you did wasn't that bad and was probably all for the best in the end.

Lynsey Roddy

Goldson set up their goal & the one Butland made the great save early in the 2nd half too. He’s not good enough. He’s been part of that team that’s failed time & time again too & like Tav he’s a liability now.

David P

Would it though? At times the positions he takes are up are so ridiculous they're just infuriating. On the other hand he could line up the reasons not to sack Beale and another podder could bat them down one by one. Maybe that would be interesting.

Graham McCallum

The only thing that gets the fans back onside as you say is silverware ie the league flag and possibly the treble. Can we wait though until it’s too late to do anything about it? I don’t think we can this squad have had 9 games and we’ve won 4 and lost 3 ffs. Already we’re 4 points behind out of 12 to play for that in itself is horrendous

Spoon

In fairness to Alex his view will be one that others share and he always speaks how he sees it popular or not. I totally disagree with him on this but in the same way we all have the points of failure we relate to or the positives we see he’s just giving his opinion. I think it’s lazy to call any viewpoint reactionary or thrawn without at least addressing the content, play the ball not the man.

Ryan Stewart

David P - not sure we need to be bringing people’s family’s in to it. Everyone has there own opinion, I haven’t listened to the car pod so can’t really comment on what Alex said. I do think in general though, people on here are among the more patient in our support and if the vast majority on here have turned then it shows how Beale is viewed.

Simon

Has he been sacked yet?

Mr J K Murray

the situation has become a tertian ague,

Richard

Feel your pain and can relate on the last two pods David. It’s the hope that kills us.

David Herd

I didn't post yesterday because I was too angry, fair play to David and the guys for being able to sound so logical and rational at a time I was the opposite. Rangers fans should be very angry still today. Angry at a defence that never learns. Angry at a midfield that is too passive and creates little. Angry at forwards who don't know how to score. Angry at a manager with no tactical plan, who is wasting our better players, and who loses every important game he faces. And angry too at the most ridiculous disallowed goal, that would have given us the lead in a game where the first goal is always so important. It is good to see us going after the officials responsible, we can but hope the club don't accept some mealy mouthed apology and want heads on a pole. Yesterday, I wanted Beale sacked. I probably still do. But it's not going to happen after 4 games of the season, we can only pray that he and the team prove us all wrong in the coming weeks or we will end up making the change too late just as last season.

Spoon

James get where your coming from but if the qualification was ‘genuinely love the club’ anyone on here can be manager we need to be ruthless in the pursuit of excellence like we used to be….

Grant Hutton

Few moans: Beale is overcomplicating the game for the players. The players look like they don’t have a clue what is being asked of them. I lost count on the number of times Roofe or dessers pressed yesterday and then turned round surprised/confused to see our midfield sitting at the half way line. I can’t think of a game where Ryan Jack played on the left of a midfield 3 in all his time at the club. Why play him here and not Cantwell (Cantwell played on the left of a 3 just last week in Dingwall)? Presumably to protect Sterling but just shows how conservative the approach was from Beale yesterday. I can’t think of another good team who start with 2 number 9s, 1 winger and 3 central midfielders. How do you make that work in a formation?

Graham Jones

I keep hearing ‘yet another defeat under Michael Beale’, but what chance do you have when bad, bd decisions are being made by referees. That decision could cause a man to lose his job, all because that shower of cunts have spooked referees into doing what they want at all times. Rangers simply need to push back on this or it will continue to get worse. That includes all the support, because we aren’t the sort to wallow in victimhood. However, this isn’t victimhood, it’s now a situation where referees are shitting themselves when a decision is to made against them. Decisions swing games, as yesterday proved.

Hoggy

I think both can be true mate. We should make a big deal of that decision 100%. But we also know what we’re watching.

James Anderson

I feel I am in the minority, so I wont accept any abuse for my views. I really think everyone should just calm down, and give Beale the season before calling for his head or boycotts etc. We cant be a club who constantly gets rid of managers. There are many instances where clubs have not reacted to fan hysteria, look no further than Arsenal with Arteta. The Scottish league is not attractive enough option for any prospective manager to risk taking a job where he will not be given the time to put his ideas into place. I remember a time when unbelievably our fans wanted rid of Walter.

Heart and Hand

You are right but with, for example, Arteta there were clear signs of progress and he won a cup in his first six months beating Man City on route. There is nothing at all in Beale’s tenure to suggest he’s heading in the right direction.

Neil Wilson

I think it might be worthwhile giving forums and social media a miss. The fun of the next two weeks of people narrative building. The told you so brigade trying to get those imaginary kudos points.

Graeme Homer

He’s never been good enough to be the manager and shouldn’t be kept on. Gio was better but had no fit cb’s for a good while. However we had your very Adam and Stevie playing with themselves silly and telling us all who Beale was a mastermind.

Gregg

I agree James - I think the season is a stretch but we’re not getting rid of a manager days after the transfer win closes 4 league games into the season. I understand people are angry however I just can’t see it happening and getting more and more annoyed for a fortnight seems counter productive. It’s a massive two weeks for Beale - we need to see that he’s been working on some sort of pattern. If he talks to the media - which I think would be an error - some sort of understanding that he made tactical mistakes would be an idea.

Scott Cameron

Spot on regarding Beale, there's nothing to cling to for any sign of positivity moving forward. He's a dead man walking and it's a matter of when and not if for him getting his P45.

George Higgins

It was the correct decision Hoggy. That is obvious from looking at the coverage this and the Morelos foul v Dortmund has received.

Andrew Whiteside

I just can’t turn on a manager 4 weeks into a season. I think he has gotten decisions wrong but I also know he is learning on the job. The clamour for Beale being the man when Gio got the bullet was undeniable but he is an inexperienced manger so needs time. The managers that get it right in 4 weeks we can’t afford.

Heart and Hand

That's a really poor comment. So you had two guys who thought he'd be a good appointment and it looks like they might be wrong. No need to be a dick about it.

James Anderson

I agree Andrew, the danger is that we only attract desperate managers, like Pedro, if we are not prepared to give a manager reasonable time.

Craig Clements

If we judge him from the summer its probably worse for him . Lost half of league games, struggled in the league Cup and was absolutely humiliated in Europe. I believe that its now inevitable that he will go before the end of the year. Unfortunately, by then it will be too late. Again.

Simon

Adam called him out pretty early on saying things weren’t making sense.

Gregg

You also see fouls given all the time for attackers putting their foot in to initiate contact - normally for penalties.

William Hughes

We'll support you evermore 🟥⬜️🟦

Colin Mathie

What an utter pile of bs from Beale, just do one will ya, before we really turn on you.

Gregg

Systemic of some within our support - love to tell us they told us so.

Heart and Hand

I don't get the point of it Gregg. Some people were excited about the new manager. Does it make them feel better to go 'YOU WERE WRONG!' All that will lead to is very short shows with podders saying 'hi I have some thoughts on this but I'll keep them to myself in case I'm wrong. Thanks for listening.'

Graham Miller

Well that was a hard listen! Can’t wait for The Flagship - all sharp instruments will be hidden. Bottom line is Beale will get to the end of the Europa group which takes in the League Cup. Win it and qualify for next phase will save him. But both are an absolute must.

Hoggy

I think it’s a hugely grey area. I don’t think it’s a foul and I didn’t think Morelos was either. Bobby Madden thinks it’s a foul. Steve Conroy doesn’t think it’s a foul. Dermot Gallagher doesn’t think it’s a foul. Tough one to take. It’s where opinion still rules.

Andrew Whiteside

I get it but if we go all the way back we were a basket case last season and I thought he did well to keep it respectable considering the form and injuries. Still got a lot to prove. He is doing his managerial apprenticeship at a club that is unforgiving. I thought he would always need time.

Gregg

Agreed - always saying they didn’t want x manager/ player etc. if you are negative about everything, sadly sometimes you will be right. Some seem to take a strange perverse rosy glow from it all. We also live in a world where people can’t respect opposing views. Everything is black or white.

Gregg

It would be great if Scottish football could be innovative - no laughing at the back. Come out after the game and explain the var decisions. Reference the rule in question and explain why it’s given. Would also educate us - as fans - and take away all the boring shock jock noise. We have so called experts telling us their views on sky - who most likely don’t know the rules, maybe the could do a referees course to justify their salary and give proper ‘expert views’. I know it’ll never catch up.

Graeme Homer

They didn’t need to be dicks when he was appointed and people disagreed with them! That’s karma!

Gregg

We all want rangers to do well - that last comment is bizarre mate. I don’t know what they have done specifically to upset you but this seems bizarre. Have you had too much sun?

Colin Gardner

Said that earlier Graham. Problem is we could win our next 13 games then lose a game and its carnage again.

Alan Stewart

Thanks for your last 2 pods David. I completely agree with all your points re Beale. Yesterdays Carpod had me questioning what I sat through yesterday. The board must act now to salvage our season. I don’t trust this guy to even win us the LC. 4 weeks into the season and absolutely scunnered with it all.

Graeme Homer

We all do I agree and we will all disagree from time to time, me and Stevie Hannigan butt heads all the time with the preview show. However he doesn’t ever need to be a dick about his position and neither has David, Martyn, Andy when Ive ever discussed anything with them. The two I mentioned had attitudes when people questioned there absolute conviction of Beale being the right man and the two came across like dicks and since then I’ve treated like such too.

Gregg

We could Mike up the VAR officials - would be different from other leagues and interesting to viewers.

KAD87

Spot on, couldn’t agree with him yesterday but have a lot of time for him. If he just said what we wanted to hear the pod wouldn’t be what it is. Keep it up big man.

Stuart F

No rangers fan wants to see us chalk up a high manager turnover rate, but it's not a reason to keep anyone in a job who clearly isnt performing. It only makes the damage worse in the longer term and harder to recover players confidence. The players took the brunt of the fans frustration yesterday but it was mostly aimed at the manager I think. The manager should have done the walk around the pitch afterwards too, rather than being straight up the tunnel. Or he should have read the fans mood and pulled it totally

Scott Duncan

Our own shortcomings should not excuse the fact the Don Robertson has seen fit to chalk off a legitimate goal and will likely face no consequences. If it was a foul and FK on that occasion, why not a foul and pen on Cantwell?

Jim wylie

What do we do, keep changing managers at this rate approximately 1 per season?! I don’t see the board taking action until the end of the year, and perhaps we have a trophy by then and assess? That means we lose time but I don’t see any other outcome at this time.

Dave McKechnie

What's there Scottish Referees Podcast that David mentions?

Declan Cairns

You can get rid of them if they haven’t won a single meaningful big game in the time they’ve been here. He’s learned nothing from the cup final, the semi final. And the level of collapse in Eindhoven was a disgrace. We’ll go nowhere under Beale

Norm

The fans are right to be very angry. Beale sold us a pipe dream. The used car salesman analogy is spot on. We bought the car got it home and all four wheels fell off.

David Campbell

Sick of hearing beale tbh scunnered with him tbh. He's been here almost a year and has took us backwards. Just go Michael please. Sitting off celtic at Ibrox should be a sackable offense in itself

Joe mitchell

He was part of the coaching staff under Gerrard when we sat off them & lost at Ibrox. From then on we went after them & won most of them before they departed. Baffling !

Mark Wilson

I’m seeing a lot of quotes with the rules around taking the ball off someone, and that it’s a foul until you touch the ball, meaning Dessers fouled the CB. Most agree it wasn’t a foul, but I want to understand why not, given that rule. Does anyone know so I can throw it back at my Celtic mates?!😂

Spoon

It was always a strange one, in fairness I was at that point arguing for Gio to stay and be backed as I was disgusted at how his players had downed tools but my big issue with Beale is he hadn’t achieved anything but was being spoken about as if he had. I remember at time raising issues around his team of coaches and being told they were all top drawer, it’s not hindsight, it’s not trying to be awkward it was clear at the time that there were a lot of question marks and not a lot of answers. No appointment will be universally approved but there has been a narrative that Beale was the fans choice I don’t think it was ever more than 60/40 maybe at a push 70/30 and that was purely down to his performances prior to leaving Rangers and what he did afterwards, there was no evidence to show other than wanting the job why he should get it. Maybe that was the issue, maybe nobody actually wanted it ?

Simon Botterill

Morals are done David. We all want to turn up, ref does job, wrong league, wrong administration. We are bullied on the pitch and our game management is non existent. Look at the disallowed goal, Hart (woeful keeper, very good pro) is on it, free kick set up, goal disallowed, who is on the refs his shoulder, Hart with a nice well done. Lighter thrown, Hart waits until the right moment. Cantwell in box, no one backing him up or even checking on him. We are too hung up on ability and not application, strategy and willingness to cross lines in a league that requires it unfortunately. We might not like it but look at your environment, yes try to change it but right now we will not progress with this meek attitude. Beale does not need to harrass refs but he has match day team of c.30, all can provide a role to each other, against the opposition, the officials. I can give Beale more time to get this updated squad firing but the lack in change of culture is such an easy fix. Bring in a KT, director of culture.

Russ

For what it's worth for Beale I thought Roofe was everywhere the ball had been until he was subbed off watching it live, watched it back and he was just as bad as I remembered. I get that he's a good finisher but it just isn't the stick to beat Beale with..the approach/setup/recruitment is definitely though.

Graeme Guthrie

Foul or not, VAR shouldn't have been involved? It's only for clear and obvious errors. Nothing clear or obvious about that decision.

Brian Rae

Will the board risk their own reputation by giving MB more time? I don't think they will TBH, though, one thing MB appears to be is persuasive. We need an experienced, talented manager. It will cost but this isn't a role to cheap out on like we have done for over a decade now. MB has neither the experience or stature and to manage us, you need at least one of those things.

Alan Keegan

It’s just so incredibly disappointing. I remember the long form interview you guys did with him. He was intelligent, insightful and a decent guy. I desperately wanted him to succeed.

stefan strzelecki

The fact Beale indicated at half time they were informed to push on 15-20 yards. Leads me to think that pre match he must have told them to play on the counter. Where they countering from a deeper position due to poor clarification pre match? The fact is Rangers shouldn’t have been playing a quick counter game. We should have attacked on mass in their half, with a high press. Beale is fooling nobody with a deceitful synopsis that has no resemblance to reality. Perhaps f he wants to keep his job. He should position himself in the main stand directors to witness some of the inept application of his execution instructions. If it was good enough for Walter to plan, and adapt , he really needs to think out the box.

David whyte

Are Dessers, Danilo and Lammers any better than Colak, Sakala and Ianis? At the moment the answer is no for me. This is only going to end up one way…..again.

Graeme McLeod

It's not "four weeks into a season" - he's been here since last November and hasn't won a meaningful match. One of the selling points when he was hired was that he knew the club and the league, and yet he's making the sort of mistakes you'd expect from someone with no prior knowledge of the Old Firm. He was out of his depth at QPR. Quite why anyone thought he was the man for the job is beyond me, but between the League Cup Final, Scottish Cup semi and yesterday he's shown he's learned nothing.

Graeme McLeod

Can't believe the officials and VAR set us up to try to just not lose to Celtic at home, and had us play a system with no real shape at all. Damn officials.

Andrew Whiteside

For me it is. That team last year got humiliated at the giro dome last year before he came in and without a forward line kept it close when playing that mob. I’m not saying he is not making mistakes or that long term he is the man. Just that I’m not ready to burn it down four weeks into a season. I respect your opinion mate. This is mine.

Dingus

David, I think that’s the first DU I’ve heard where your voice is quivering from a combination of rage and frustration (maybe the DR attack). Sure it’s been replicated by 99% of our support since Sunday’s inept performance on and off the park.

Jamie Kirk

Well said Davd. Agree with every point.

maccalsa

David, I find most of your monologues reasonable and enlightening, especially in times of general darkness and disappointment, I'm not sure I'm really alligned with you here, though. You say grounds on theory, not reality? Here is a reality, we have paid big sums for outfield rejects, has beens or never will bees from england, forward players who plied their trade at struggling teams in Italy and a complete unknown from the MLS (the hit rate from the MLS isn't great). I'm not sure what we were all expecting. Are the new signings of the same quality as : Kent (at first) Morelos (when he cared) Jack (before his body gave up) Kamara (when he cared) Aribo (was still a great player when he left) No, clearly not, add into the mix, the Belgium poor man's barry ferguson, John souter.... I mean, what have we got?? Cantwell... and the only reason we have him is because his career fell off a cliff. Yes, we have a decent keeper, too. You say its not your job to pick the manager, this is true but, If we don't give Beale one more big push, the experiment is over, if we don't give it more turn of positivity then we will have ensured failure. Back him for now, because what's the alternative? do not just say that's the boards job. The grass isn't always greener Established managers are out of our pay grade. Do you really trust our board to appoint left field appointment or some rangers man to appease the fans. Apparently, Ange Postecoglu was interested in us in 2017, but we were chasing Derek Mcinnes at the time as we had already had or fingers burned with or own left field appointment in Caixinha. Left field is where we have to go in my mind anyway, even if it fails. Signing a quality manager will mean signing someone untested and unproven, but with a good track record. Someone we have not heard off no doubt, someone who wants to prove themselves in Europe who appears to have the marbles for an elite job. That's what we can afford. Do you think the board would do that? Do you think the fans would put up with an unknown manager if the project wasn't to start well?  I don't If we are not ready to take that risk, maybe Beale is what we have to stick with, at least till November.

Heart and Hand

I don’t really understand your point here tbh. We need to stick with him because we might get someone worse? If so, it’s true but a flimsy reason to keep someone. And of course we’ll need to support him if he stays. But if you want me to come out and say I believe in him when I don’t, or I think he can turn it around when I don’t, that’s not me. I’d be lying.

Your comment cheered me up somewhat Gregg. Scottish football, innovative? Brilliant. We as a football nation are probably at least a generation behind the rest of Europe in technical ability, physicality and tactical know how and getting worse by the year. Our recent club European results and performances highlight that. I have thought for some time that our league is on a par with the Welsh and Irish leagues. Ref: Motherwell and Kilmarnock embarrassments in recent seasons. Your suggestion would be great but Scottish football, innovative????? No chance.

Totally agree Grant. I stopped watching Gio’s pressers latterly because he spoke for 20 minutes and said absolutely nothing. The opposite is the case with Michael Beale. He gets asked a simple question that could be answered in one word but we get a narration of War and Peace. Mostly bullshit, buzzwords and bollocks. Straight out of the Modern Coaching Manual for managers who think it’s all about them. Players can smell it a mile off.

I didn't really expect you to get my point, but yes, why not? If we stick with him, we might get someone worse. We are dangerously close to being a club that changes managers every November. And yes, I know I said wait till November, but we don't want the annual cycle of - rebuild every summer, - sack manager in autumn, - sign a new manager - get the dead cat bounce, - finish season with little, then repeat till we luck out one year You've given him a fair go. I appreciate that, and you're closer to this than I am, but for one who i consider so level-headed when everyone else is being reactionary. I just don't get your take (just my opinion). Whether you admit it or not, your opinion holds considerable weight here, enough to make people stop and think. Im not sure that we don't think you can do the job, but as you're here, we will support you. Sounds very supportive to the management team. A revolving door policy will guarantee failure. You say the reason to keep him is flimsy. I could easily say the same to getting rid. The players are just not good enough. A new manager will still have Dessers up front, and we will still be lacking midfield to front. Our defence will still be full of players past their prime. Beale is under a lot of pressure now. This is a nightmare start for him. How about we watch closely to see how he responds to this challenge? After all, this is his team. Perhaps we should allow him the opportunity to fix the situation before giving up on him..... in November....only joking

We need to change the mentality on what we can afford, I point blowing £6m on a striker when you expect the guy who trains him to be worth peanuts. Managers are no different from players, if you want quality you need to pay for it. Maybe if we got a guy who was decent he could actually do what a manager / coach is supposed to and develop a player and a style.
