Martyn was joined by David, Rob and Ross Adair this month to try and select the strongest unique Rangers XI from the 1980s under the pressure and rules of The Draft. Again, four completely different sides needed to be picked. If you missed yesterday's show, please have a listen and then vote for what side reflects the 1980s most.

Do NOT vote on a player's contribution to the club in the 1970s or 1990s...

Graeme Burns

Not Edgar, his obnoxious arrogance on the call was a real turn-off

Kris

It's David, but points off for Patterson, cannot abide that clown

Andrew Meldrum

4 votes in and Rob is on 25%. So it appears that Rob has voted...

Simon

Calm down mate. It was a conversation between four friends.

Haining84

David’s 👍🏻then Ross.

Ally Mair

Any team that has souness Mccoist bomber and gough in it has to win

Ally Mair

No humour from u mate it seems , don’t you realise that’s part of david’s charm

Ross Gordon

David has Ally ergo David wins! (in all seriousness probably the best team overall).

Heart and Hand

I play it up for laughs. I think most realise it tbf. As Simon said, it’s three of my best pals so aye there’s a big wind-up factor there.

Stewart Robertson

David got it purely for having Bomber and Souness in the same team. The opposition players would just phone in sick.

Stewart Thomson

Even if David's team wasn't the best I'd have voted for him anyway, this is a dictatorship after all.

Laura McCrimmon

David's team for me, not just cause of ally but more so for Gough and bomber. Love this format listening to you all groan at times is rather amusing and the phrase 'thats annoying' gets used alot 😂

Andrew Hind

Voted for David as he told us to in the daily update!

Steve Clark

Voted for David although I can’t believe nobody picked Jimmy Nicholl as right back

David Herd

I think Rob has the best attacking blend middle to front, and Martyn has the best goalkeeper by an absolute mile plus real quality in his midfield 4. Nobody is bullying the spine of Ross's team, who won't lose many headers in either penalty area. But David's team with Gough, Brown, Souness and McCoist will just refuse to lose! It also has a couple of players who were outstanding in the 80s in poor teams in Bobby Russell and John McLelland,. David wins for me, despite his goalkeeper!

Allan MacRitchie

Don’t worry it’s safe to say I’ve learned not to repeat my mistake David

Heart and Hand

No worries Allan. I once got called Edgar in a new job for two weeks till I said, turned out they’d been sent a note saying the new guy was called Edgar David 😂

Kyle Kutasi

If you’re going to pick Spackman on the basis of a few games, why wouldn’t you pick Jardine or Gordon Smith? lol 😂

Douglas Innes

if there was round robin type simulator 1 David Edgar's P 3 W 3 probably beat Martyns team 1-0 with the ball going in off McCoists arse 2 Martyn Played 3 W2 L1 3 Ross P3 W1 L2 ( narrow defeat to Martyns ) 4 Robs P3 L3 , that defence when David had picked Ian McColl i couldn't believe he hadn't thought of Willie "Bud" Johnston , but given he'd be struggling to keep all 11 on the park as it was that might have been a risk not worth taking

littleboyblu

Any team with Davie Cooper in it gets my vote. Well picked Ross. (Although David’s team is the best).

Luca Brasi

David all day….that midfield

John MacRae

Without looking at the result, I got the correct order 👍🏼

Graeme Burns

🎣🤣 it’s amazing how touchy the majority of the support is currently (and with good reason)…

James Cameron

I got an idea for a draft it will be impossible to pick an out right winner in a poll. A draft form the treble winning teams from 1948-49, 1963-64.1975-76,1977-78, 1992-92,1998-99 and 2002=2003. You can have different formations as well

Teddy Lasso

As much as I didn't want to vote for David's as you could tell from the start and during the pod that he knew he had this in the bag, It's the best side by far.

stephen

David has clearly cheated and pulled rank here.

Martin Boyd

You only got my vote because of Russell.😂

Kev Roberts

That's a right tough choice to be fair

Graeme McLeod

Was torn between David's lineup and Martyn's. Voted for Martyn after David was pandering for votes on the daily update. I shan't be told how to use my vote, sir!

Bill Ramsay

Just can't see past David's team, McCoist needs no explanation, bit of a cheat on Gough, but it does mean McLelland is in there who was one of the few quality players(as was Bobby Russell) in the side at the time and of course Souness the mad bastard. But ultimately it's down to one thing, my personal favourite Rangers player, big Bomber, seals it.

Bill Ramsay

It was almost enough to sway my vote, but when it got right down to it I had to vote for the best team.

Dougie

I wanted to vote for Colin! But he gets nothing 😊 ask ya da 🤣

Raskul

Sorry but i can't actually read any of those. You lot got your magnifying glasses out to read the player names?? 🥴

Scott Cochrane

No surprises I voted for David’s XI Tho surprised Gordon Ramsay wasn’t being quoted for potential selection 😂

Gordon Mac

When you see them down there genuinely is only one winner and its not Rob 🤣

Dave Fleming

David’s four centre halves has a very Walter second spell feel to it.

David Best

What a brilliant show. Russell and Cooper were the two shining lights in the early 80s but can’t believe nobody picked Sandy Jardine!! And Sandy Clark was much better than Colin McAdam!

Heart and Hand

It’s funny but the one player we were all absolutely set on not picking was Bobby Williamson!

Graeme McLeod

He's far from the best player in Martyn's team, but I've got a soft spot for Kevin Drinkell. He was before my time I had all the 9IAR VHS tapes growing up and liked the highlights of him. Met him years ago and told him as much, and he said he's always touched that Rangers fans remember him. That midfield of Martyn's is class though.

Rona Bluebell

This is so difficult to choose. Johnson and Fleck up front are so strong, but the tin man gives a wild mid field feel alongside Durrant and I remember seeing them together so for romantic reasons I’m picking Ross. Plus the lighthouse is the keeper. Ross has weakest up front but hey, you can’t have everything. Not getting the overwhelming love for David’s choices as McCoist is brilliant of course but Derek F and Souness weren’t always so solid together. Very difficult though. Sorry Martyn, can’t vote for a side with Nisbet. He was a liability!

Derek Watson

Had to vote for Rob as the one selection with Coop. Growing up he was the only player worth watching, didn't matter who else was in the side!

Martyn Ramsay

Such praise for three XIs without a goalkeeper. Incredible times 😁 Glad so many are enjoying the format. It’s a lot of fun.

Ross Adair

Thank you to the 39 People who have voted for my XI so far. You know it makes sense 🤩

Jayson Moore

Ross’ XI would’ve been my pick up til the front 2. Had to pick Super before Gray & McAdam.

Scott Wilson

Sandy Jardine played in three Scottish cup finals in the 80s and never got a mention. Also if looking for width no one mentioned Willie Johnston's brief comeback which wasn't dull
