Alan Ryder

Given the relatively poor performances since the start of the season and the fact the summer signings haven’t exactly hit the ground running, what (if any) signs do you see in the squad that give us cause for optimism?

Brett

On field related - do you lads have a preferred or ideal formation and 11 for this squad? At full strength and in our current injury hit period? Off field - do you think bringing in an assistant like Gary McAllister could help Beale the way it helped Gerrard? I think Beale struggles to implement changes quickly enough through lack of experience and a coach like GM could help help him on the sidelines

Steven McNeil

Not wanting to throw a youngster into this but honestly would Lovelace be any worse than Wright or Dessers?

conor docherty

Is there a disconnect building between the club and fans?

George Higgins

What changes to the personnel on field do we make ?

CRAIG CASSELLS

The quality of football on offer isn't getting any better despite Beale promising improvements after OF defeat. In fact Sunday's performance, despite winning, was dire. Beale promised in the summer high pressing, fast attacking football. We are getting the exact opposite: slow, turgid football devoid of pace, drive strength, skill and width. Twelve games in well lack any noticeable style of play and both our tactics and subs are baffling. With the obvious exception our big summer signings have failed to deliver, already Lammers and Dessers look expensive misfits, their lack of pace is concerning I genuinely hate sacking managers and all the upheavel that it brings but I can see no other way that we get out of this mess other than removing Beale. Am I jumping the gun?

David Clapperton

Do you think something has spooked the manager early on in his plans for this season? Whether we think the players that he brought in are good enough or not surely he had a plan for them to fit in to? It now looks like he’s just ripping it up and starting again game by game. Or was it just a poor plan he had to start with and he doesn’t know what to do now?

Tom McDavid

Sunday was another example of Beale overthinking things, Scott Wright in centre midfield the latest example. Should the manager go back to basics and keep it simple, play players in their natural positions.

Ralph Wiggum

When we appointed Beale we thought we were getting a master tactician that would have us playing exciting, attacking football. If he's not delivering on this, then what else has he got? He wasn't a player, doesn't appear to be a motivator/leader of men.

Bob MacCallum

The back 4 is ok just now. Lumdstram is playing well so it's the other 5 players we have to select. Should we play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Roofe up front, the 3 behind him Sima, Lammers, Cifuentes and the 2 behind them Jack and Lundstram? Weeks ago, I told pals I never wanted to see Jack and Lundstram EVER play together again BUT needs must.

Allan Warnock

I think the reaction on Sunday was bang out! To win 1-0 over copa del ray winners takes some serious stuff!

Alan Weir

Do you think many or any of the younger element in our support would have coped in the “Glory Years” of Sandy Clark, Colin McAdam and Gregor Stevens? Would there have been adequate counselling services in the West of Scotland to cope back then.

Ryan Lynch

Every game some of our players kick the ball straight to the opposition, without being under any pressure. It is frustrating to see. Is this just our specific players are poor, is it the mentality and they are scared to make a mistake - thus make mistakes, is it because a lack of movement ahead of them? Or all 3. And how does the manager fix it?

Doug Young

What do you think "handbrake off" means, and have we seen it yet?

Neil

We have 4 games until international break where after we should get some of our injured players back. The injuries are definitely contributing to our poor form. Should it be a case of grinding out the next few and have reset in October. Saturday wasn’t pretty but I think it’s just a case of getting over the line until then.

Steve Watson

If and when Beale gets the bullet do you think we could do any worse than getting Martindale in? If we can’t get our main targets in etc I think we could do hell of a lot worse than him in. His Livingston teams are always well drilled and the players might actually know what there doing with his system. I’m amazed he hasn’t went to a bigger team yet he has rebuilt Livingston a few times with probably the lowest budget in the league, think maybe his past puts people off im not too sure.

David

You may get this sooner rather than later as we don’t have a lot of options. I’d prefer to stick with a 4231 but not what we saw yesterday. We played with inverted wingers and yet again not playing to players strengths. It was simple, switch Matondo to left and Wright to right. With 6 attacking options who could easily make up a front 6 (Ridvan, Dowall, Lawrence, Cantwell, Matondo and Danilo) are we going to see more of the 352 / 343 in the next four games?

Calum Robertson

Given the current glut of injuries, particularly in midfield, would it be possible to bring some players back from loan early (Hagi from Deportivo Alaves, Lowry from Hearts and/or Williamson from Partick)?

Craig Armstrong

We all know the fans believe that Beale is on borrowed time, but do you guys think the board is of the same opinion? I'm not so sure they do. Other than Butland the summer signings haven't been spectacular, but is it not possible that they are taking time to adjust to the Scottish game or that they are just as lost about formation and tactics as we are?

drgriffen

How much is our current situation to do with Beale? And will changing the manager make much of a difference (long term)? Reason I ask, is that we have seen similar under Gio and Gerrard. So, are the Board culpible for the structures created throughout the club? We've had a cull since Bennett became Chairman which suggests something wasn't right. Is there a culture within the changing room that tolerates failure? Actions tell us a lot more than words. Or is it just down to the fact Celtic currently have more money so we have to be realistic? Personally, I think Beale will struggle to survive this, but is this just down to him being not a very good manager who spent badly in the Summer? Or do the problems run far deeper?

Ronnie Gallacher

First of all, you should not have to suffer abuse for holding an opinion whether you are a subscriber or a contributor on Heart & Hand, that is not acceptable. I'm glad that those who did submit abusive posts were banned, 100% support that, they should be. This is a community, we should be respectful towards each other whilst being able to express our opinion or how we may feel around, e.g. a performance or a player or the manager without being abused by those hiding behind a keyboard! Keep going lads, you are doing great work. Now to my question, we have not started the season, in terms of our play, in line with the summer expectation. We have suffered a couple of defeats in the league where we should have done better and the Champions League, for me, is a step too far. We've seen a few (maybe too few) glimpses of what the team can do, e.g. against PSV & Real Betis at home. Do you think the support are too quick to judge and then turn against the manager and the team? I accept we're in a 2 horse race in our league, it's only 6 games in, we're 4 points behind, we're not playing well just yet. I remain confident (for now) as believe we need to assess around the New Year and make decision based on where we are in all competitions and hopefully with a League Cup tucked away. Thanks again lads, keep up the good work.

Rick Goldsbrough

Hi guys, I’m looking for the shining light in all the shite that’s being thrown at the rangers wall at the moment. Can you think of any example similar to this that a manager and a team has come back from? People use the Sir Alex and Man U example but we all know he was the master. Any others come to mind that Michael Beale can somehow emulate and turn us into treble winners? Appreciate the pods in what is a difficult time. Keep it up you guys confirm I’m not actually going mad with all things rangers. Rick

Chris Scott

Do we need to move on from Tavernier and Borna at the end of this season?

William Mcdonald

Did the move to the back 3 actually work? Does it require Souttar and Davies to do more driving than they did to make it work? With the now lack of width (again), is this something we need to do play and learn to take away some of the defensive duties from Tav and Borna?

Billy Glancy

Now that Matondo is out injured for a while we are going to be struggling to create up front. Are there any good free agents wingers out there and do you think the club should bring one in.

David Innes

Given that there’s no guarantee sacking Beale would make things better should we let him see out the league cup campaign in the hope that delivering silverware will act as a turning point for the squad?

Simon

Why are we so shite?

Colin Gardner

Beale is taking a lot of criticism and rightly so but when should we start looking at the players to take a bit of responsibility in this?

Gordon McCool

With the amount of injuries we have, is it bad luck or something more sinister, like poor training methods?

John Walker

Yesterday was a test of our squad with all the injuries we've picked up. Does the performance tell us that the likes of dessers, lammers are not up to it.

Joshua Mcgaughey

Why do we constantly change formation. We change it every game and in game also.

John Smith

Hi guys 👋 is it now fair to say the brains behind Gerard was in fact Gerrard himself ? I just can’t understand how Mick Beale, who everyone he’s ever worked with raves about in terms of his football knowledge, can seem so lost at the moment

Tamus

Who scouted Lammers and Dessers and should they have their baws booted

Jim Milne

I'm sure this is asked before but why does Tav take 99.9% of set plays? Every opposition knows what he does. Sure he scores amazing free kicks but that's 1 out of 20 attempts. Surely Lawrence, Cantwell, Raskin, Dowell, Danilo and possibly more know how to take set pieces. It reeks of I'm the captain and it's my baw.

Alan Kirker

There is an imbalance when it comes to the squad in many areas but especially when it comes to width, with Matondo being the only out and out winger really. It is inevitable that this will need to be addressed but how easy will that be? Is it a right winger in the January transfer window or is it more than that?

James Stirling

If you could pick any Scottish player currently playing in Scotland and add them to our side, who would you choose and why? Question comes from the fact that I believe we lack players in the mould of Ferguson, Weir, Kevin Thomson, Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd etc who just ‘got it’ and a return to a more traditional Scottish core could help us progress domestically.

mountaingoat

Should Bailey Rice start against Livingston or should we hold off until we are playing better (whenever that may be)

Andrew David Ferguson

Why did we let Beale have free rein on the transfers he brought in. He wanted to play narrow but has gone back to playing with width. He hasn't got conviction on how he wanted to play this season. It's a absolute mess and he must be shown the door before it's to late.

Al Robert

How big a worry is it that Beale doesn’t appear to know which system we should use or belief in any of them? The worst case of this I saw was when Matondo first went down injured yesterday, he sent Sima off to warm up. 5 minutes later Rabbi has to come off and he instead brings Souttar and and changes our entire system with multiple players being moved out of position.

Graeme Burns

What’s Livingston’s all time XI?

Ross T

Should Bailey Rice get a start? Midfield has been a major part of the problem. Far too slow to make passes forward, particularly through the lines. Rice is excellent at just that. Getting the ball into the forwards feet earlier will hopefully help. Big factor in breaking the low block. Dont see why Rice cant start. Loads of 16/17 year olds get a chance elsewhere. He looks physically ready.

Jamie

Are the issues above Michael Beale and the playing staff? Beale’s career as manager seems to be following a similar trajectory to Van Bronckhorst - good displays in Europe, dismal domestically, transfer windows (Last January aside) where the majority of players don’t look up to the challenge. Our last two managers have, what’s seems to be, completely different styles of play. Do we need to look at the footballing setup further up the chain?

Ross T

Given our extremely limited options in the wide forward area (major error in summer recruitment) could someone like Yilmaz be used further up pitch? Even as a wingback in a 352.

Paul

I believe we can all agree that Beale's time as manager is up. Personally, I believe his choice of backroom team was a factor. He is ultimately accountable, but check out our pre-match warm-up. The coaching staff playing keepie uppie, and one twos with one another. It hardly motivates the first team ahead of a game. So what's going on that we can't see!? Thoughts on the backroom team?

Gary Shaw

If we get shot of Beale, who gets a tune out of these players? Most are on lengthy contracts and there’s no sellable assets so it’s a case of 2 hands tied behind the back,a blindfold on and a gag….P.S. this is the worse group of players since we’ve came back up in terms of output, transfers, wages etc

Billy Forrester

Is it time to start getting in players who are tried and tested in the Scottish game rather than spend millions on a Dessers or a Lammers and hope they can play in the wacky world of the Scottish Premier League. We could have bought Shankland from Hearts and Boyle from Hibs and still had a couple of million leftover. I also think we should have signed Porteous from Hibs and going back to Gerrard we should have signed their left back Josh Doig. All tried and tested in Scotland, I think we need a more Scottish spine to our side and some nastiness. Your thoughts?

Scott Barnett

What does Alex see in this rangers team ?

Greig Chambers

Our squad is too big and we waste too much money on squad fillers. We should buy a slightly better quality player and less of them and supplement with our youths. Our squad should be 18players and 6 youths. Otherwise whats the point in a youth system. If we cant play 1 or 2 youngsters at home to st johnstone or dundee we should chuck it. Not only does this give a pathway to first team football for our youngsters, it improves their value and could attract more promising youngsters as there is a clear path to first team football. Do you agree and if not what do you think we should do as clearly our current transfer strategy isnt working?

Graeme Robb

Two seasons in a row with an unreasonable number of injuries. 6 players down through only 6 league games. Matondo, Raskin, Cantwell, Danilo, ridvan, Lawrence. Arguably, injuries got Gio the sack. Do we have statistically our fair share of injuries ? Or is something else going on here. Mentality, desire to play for the manager, only recruiting broken goods, incompetent doc, other?

Graeme Robb

Have we recruited players hoping to make a profit on them rather than players that can make a team?
