Beale Sacked - Reaction

David on the news of Michael Beale’s sacking from Rangers.

When will we hear from Mr Chairman?! Now is the time for leadership.

Rona Bluebell

Have a good sleep, David. You’re going to be busy tomorrow.

If Davis comes in and does well i wouldn’t mind him getting it because it doesn’t feel like there is an obvious (and realistic) options out there. Good luck to him anyway!

Chris C

I genuinely feel for Beale to a degree. We know he loves it up here and I desperately wanted him to be successful but the writing has been on the wall. The board have done the correct thing. The next appointment as manager is so vital and the board must ensure the absolutely best candidate available is brought in. Lazy job for the boys appointments are not welcome.

David Scott

The club must get this one right, no more projects or coaches a proven winner and natural motivator please.

John Smith

Is this going to be like a Hearts situation with Davis as Technical Director and Rae as Head Coach ?

Jamie

Warnock for me

Graeme McLeod

No sympathy for Beale at all. He undermined Gio while he was under pressure to get the job. He got a free pass from many for his failures last season under the myth of "this was Gio's squad," and then got final say on recruitment this season. His recruitment was poor, he continued to lose when it mattered, refused to accept culpability and had even started blaming the fans. Said at the time this was a bad appointment, but didn't expect we'd be in as bad a position as Beale leaves us in. Good riddance.

Allan Osborne

Seconded! It was an odd, lazy appointment at the time and his behaviour before Gio was sacked was appalling and not becoming of a Rangers manager. It takes some going to make the Rangers of last season worse, but by Jeez he's achieved that, just about the only thing he has achieved. I'm glad to see the back of him and his soundbites. But we really do need to get this next one right as the consequences if we don't are frightening.

Tom Parrish

I would have like to have seen Beale work out, but the start to this season has been... not good. Excited for Steven Davis to come in. I know he's interim, but I really feel he can help deliver the character this team needs

Graeme Guthrie

I'd like Steve Davis to strip the captaincy from Tav, purely to save the new manager from having to do it and put a new captain in place, potentially Butland?

Jim Milne

Feel the same as I did when Gio left, empty and frustrated it didn't work out. Beale gets Rangers but it's either way to early in his career or proof he should stick to coaching. I'm surprised at the appointment of Steven Davis, I am good with it but I didn't see it coming. In truth I wasn't sure who we'd appoint in the interim. Irregardless of what Davis does we need to get an experienced manager. Unless he turns the 7pts around and wins the league I want a seasoned experienced manager next. No more projects.

Craig Newton

Fvcking better no be Lampard pfft!

Pre season the warning signs were there Kilmarnock away the warning signs became a full on emergency and the toxicity started from the support Celtc at home should have seen his removal as by then even the most ardent Beale supporter could only see this ending one way Nice guy but so far out his depth and the fear is, this appointment could take us years to recover from. It feels like we are always saying this, but the next manager has to be 100% right…

Ross

I think this will be a very difficult appointment for the board in terms of satisfying the support, I don’t see a candidate that is going to be universally popular with the fans, I think we’re all very divided as to what we want to see next. I think Gio was the overwhelming fan preferred candidate when appointed and I’d say Beale probably enjoyed at least 50% of the support seeing him as first choice (it’s amazing what dropping by the Louden for a pint can do). I think you could stick a poll up just now of realistic options and you’d struggle to find anyone get more than 25% backing.

Scott Barnett

Some job for whoever new manager is trying to convince the fans who have been staying away to come back, the fans have chucked it with the players too (butland aside)

maccalsa

A lot of fans still think we can attract an elite manager. Our next manager is either another project, someone steeped in the culture, or a has been. Either way, you are right. There is going be a large disappointed section of support, regardless of who we sign

Angus Mackay

Thanks Davie. This isn't aimed at you but is more of a general observation, but see during this vacancy, can we please not refer to how few managers we've had and how historically loyal we are to them, unless we at least caveat it with an acknowledgment of how many of them have been in the last decade or so. FWIW, although I defended Beale once he had been appointed, the manner in which he paraded himself when Gio was under pressure was a massive red flag for me. It lacked character and wasn't what I expect from a potential Rangers manager. I was very sorry to see Gio go and felt he was very unfortunate; Beale, no so much. Whoever comes in next needs to be experienced at team building, that's a non negotiable given the situation that we're now in. Dessers is a much better than he's showing and has tended to be a slow starter, if a new manager can get him firing and get a few creative players back things should start to look better quite quickly. We badly need Cifuentes to get up to the pace of the game here too.

I've having a chuckle reading through the Muscat thread on FF. Loads of people rejecting him because they don't want a project manager and want someone with experience who's won league titles, both of which apply to Muscat (over 300 games of managerial experience in a decade and 2 league title wins).

Andrew straiton

And so the game of manager bingo begins many will seem like a good idea some won’t. Whatever team is eventually appointed will probably make sense until it doesn’t. The making of a successful manager involves many ingredients and sometimes just when when the bake is coming together you realise the milks turned sour. So while we ready ourselves for the constant phone checking and reading every bullshit rumour and speculation let’s hope those with the power and influence to effect the process do so with a calm rational head and more importantly then look after the bake and who knows maybe this time we can all celebrate with a slice of said cake on its first successful year while looking forward to many more. And yes obviously I’ve lost it but sacking your manager does this to you.

KennyY

Have to say that I’m disappointed that it’s come to this because I did genuinely want MB to be a success. He doesn’t burden the full blame for this in my eyes. The squad of players are not good enough. Whoever the new man is he has a hell of a job to turn this round. Needs to a clean slate. Players play on merit and not on how long they’ve been with the club. Captain needs to change too imo.

David Innes

I’m open minded about Muscat but worry it just smacks of desperately trying to replicate what Celtic did with Postecoglu and that would be used as a stick to beat him with as soon as the first setback happens

Russ

Aye, smacks of paranoia within the club and fanbase after getting railed by Postecoglou imo.
