Ideally we would sign more Scottish players but we would have to pay substantially over their worth. Clubs such as Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs would want millions more than other clubs are willing to pay before they risk the ire of their fans for selling to the big, bad Rangers. I can understand why our board and management may think this isn't value for money. Picking up local talent under freedom of contract is obviously preferable.

Spending £7m on yilmaz and a 1m on cifuentes when Ferguson and doig were in our league is crazy to me, but maybe that’s why I’m a punter and not working in football.

Gilhaus was Romario's understudy at PSV and got game time at the 1990 WC for The Netherlands.

Calum Robertson

I would have thought Alan McLaren to ourselves was in Hearts top 5 outgoing transfers surely ?

Great Pod fellas. Lots of great talking points, and it really demonstrates our lack of Scottish identity and how other Scottish clubs hate selling to us. Really enjoying this new show and the roundtable talk too. Keep up the great work gents.

Gary Brown

Great show again lads. Thanks Andy & Andy. Very interesting to peek at this subject through the microscope.

Andy and Andy , well done on another great pod. Apropos David Robertson, he joined us from the Sheep in 1991 on freedom of contract. His fee was set by a tribunal, as happened in pre-Bosman days. It was his decision to leave at the end of his contract in 1997 to try his luck in England. This was before the new Bosman rules were fully implemented so we received a modest fee. You mention Hearts’ surreal period under Romanov. It ended in administration and with their creditors being left out of pocket to the tune of over £30m. It really grinds my gears - the myth that Hearts fans “saved their club” whilst we “let our club die”. Hearts were one of many Scottish clubs who left creditors massively out of pocket yet avoided Rangers’ fate. People who claim not to have slept for over a decade in their angst over Rangers’ facepainter seem remarkably unconcerned about the creditors of other clubs. Looking forward to the next pod👍

Came here for Mr McGowan and he didn’t disappoint. However is it a true transfer pod without Simon?

Andy McGowan

Good shout re Robertson, and I agree te Hearts, but the cold truth is no one cares about Hearts and it doesn't shift papers/click bait
