Just read Rooney wants Butland in Jan. Tell me its bollocks! Although, I wouldnt blame him leaving after what he has seen in front of him since the Summer!

Russ

Nails on heads with the chances and scoring 👏 You'd think the UCL campaign would've shown us that we just can't hit a cows arse from a yard out when teams are pumping us by 4 or 5 with 6 shots on target. I'd go further and say we do actually score enough as well - its the defence that's holding the team back. Postecoglou's stint has convinced some of our fans we need to be scoring 5 week after week.

Niall MacKay

I dont think you can write off any of our attackers just now given the paucity of service from our back four and midfield. I include Dessers and Lammers in that. Brazilian Ronaldo up top in that team is still getting marked out the game. Let's wait and judge them when we do have guys supporting them with runs or guys getting to the back post. Impressions so far are poor but you just never know. Another thing that came to me. Didn't our latest accounts have a significant number of loan repayments in them? I am near sure we were down to our last couple of million on that one. With the money brought in from the sales of Kamara, Colak and Sakala I fail to see why we can't have a healthy budget for every window now.

Ross Monro

They'll have to pay an awful lot of money then as he signed a 4 year deal in the summer.

Andrew Meldrum

My question would have been, how do you think he will handle the captaincy. I am in the camp that Tav brings more than he gets credit for, but I also feel that the weight of captaincy inhibits him just now. I also don't like the guy who takes free kicks etc being the captain. The flip side is that I don't see an obvious successor and that is a problem in itself. Every successful Rangers team has had 4 or 5 candidates.

So is James/H&H going to do an interview with Monaco fans to give us the warning signs, like he did with Gio. I thought that was an ominous but important piece of content. Staunch regards 👍🏽

Top job as ever Davie! I think I’m in the same boat as most in terms of reserving judgement. He ticks a lot of boxes, but so too have a number of predecessors- ultimately, no one is employed by the club to do a bad job (or so you’d hope). Big thing is the attack- he needs to get a tune out of them asap… and frustratingly, I think there are some players in there.

Callum Dinnen

I see no reason to come in and make immediate changes. We're stuck with the current squad until summer at the earliest and coming in and publicly humiliating your best player would be utterly stupid. There's a reason managers tend not to make big public captaincy changes, because pissing off the senior players in the dressing room is rarely a winning idea. It's backfired badly the twice I can remember it happening here; Amoruso eventually had a great 18 months under McLeish but he was a shadow of the player he was for a year and whatever Advocaat thought he was achieving by making Ferguson captain didn't work. Losing the captaincy was also the death knell for Ricksen's Rangers career - he's probably the most over-rated Rangers player of my lifetime, but he thrived with the captaincy.

Callum Dinnen

We scored about 20 goals less than Celtic did last season, despite taking more shots on goal. We don't create anywhere near enough high quality chances for our forward players.

Russ

Yet scored the same amount as Ange's first season when they won the league - we score enough, it's the defence that's costing us. I'd happily see us score more right enough.

Angus Mackay

Thanks Davie. I hope enough people give Clement the latitude he needs to sort things out, because it's unlikely to be easy or quick. I thought his careful appeal to the fans today was his way of saying it would be far faster and easier to sort if they got behind the players. I get that that isn't easy for some, but I feel the jam today mentality is killing us since Seville (and before it, in all honesty).

Andrew Meldrum

I generally agree. Unless Tav says he thinks he would play better without it. But there are plenty who think he should never have been captain, and many others who want him dropped, some as a symbol of change. I think he does a good job as club captain, less so as a captain on the pitch. But what concerns me most is the lack of options. We should have 4 or 5 serious options and realistically it would be Goldson. That's the bigger worry.

Adam

It's interesting Monaco fans don't have many nice things to say about Clement, got the feeling it's mutual. He referenced our passionate support during his interview and seemed to be at pains to point out, that at his previous job he never experienced that. Shots fired indeed. His lack of success at Monaco doesn't concern me, I have no idea what constitutes success at Monaco, they're in a league where one side is expected to dominate and the rest are fighting for the scraps. I think there's a value in getting the lay of the land from other clubs fans on a new manager, but I do think there's a tendency among our support to pick up on a criticism and then hyper focus on that one bit criticism till it consumes them, especially the ones who love to say 'I told you so'. It then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. With Gio it was the horseshoe. It wasn't playing the horseshoe that got Gio sacked, it was over thinking the domestic away games and injuries. I get there's reservations around Clement, even I'm in the 'wait and see' camp and I bloody wanted him to come to us. Out of the pool of managers available to us, none of them were sure things. There was a lot of either damaged goods or untested goods in amongst what was interviewed. I'm just glad we went for the guy who has a track record this time, it might not yield the desired results, but at least we'll know where we stand with him for the most part. Cautiously optimistic, however we really need to break the cycle of endless manager sackings. The only way to do that is to win silverware and for some form of evolution to take place within that squad. Phase out former stalwarts and bring through up and comers, if he does that. He's got a real good chance of making it work. We're surprisingly forgiving of a managers foibles, if he delivers silverware and hope.

Jeans with the shirt and tie just makes me think of Rik mayall

Colin Wieland

Not generally a fan of keepers as captains but we need to change things up. Butland should be given the armband imo.

Does anyone know what time the press conference starts at

PR__92

Perfect thanks tried to find it online but couldn't see a time

John Palmer

That's a decent shout but I also think Cantwell would be a good candidate. The lad has just got it from day and always plays to his full potential and does hos best to lead the team with his forward thinking and attacking style of play. But for now it's Tav and we need to back him til he's no longer here.

John Palmer

Absobloodylutely Adam. He never done it at Monaco or Coventry but he's won plenty elsewhere. Ligue 👎 is dog awful and not much better than the Scottish Lge. It's 1 or 2 teams fighting for glory and the rest are just paid to turn up, nothing more. I'm honestly really looking forward to the game v Hibs this weekend which has changed from absolute Dread. I'm confident Clement is going to pull the team together and get us playing way better cause let's fave it, we couldn't get any worse.
