Thanks again Martyn, great show and brilliant reflections & opinions by Dave & Davie, thanks lads.

David Herd

As the old song goes, Thanks for the memories.

On the Thern strike, on pure technique alone it's probably the best strike I've ever seen from a Rangers player. But the list is 'greatest', not 'best', greatness is about far more than just how nice a goal looks.

I had the Hagi goal quite high up - as I said in my email there's a lovely aesthetic moment where Hagi pauses ever so slightly before slamming home. And for me, it's the moment where the league is done, no questions asked. I know the league had been done for weeks, but it was at that point that the emotion of what we were about to witness hit me. I'd compare it to fatherhood; you've known for months that your partner is pregnant and that a baby is coming, but the moment where that becomes a reality and your son or daughter is born is still magical. I think when further leagues are won this will slip off the list (56 will be more special than 55 because we'll all be there experiencing it), and it's funny how underwhelming the goal sounds listening to the audio compared to the others in this group of 10.

I was personally surprised to see it in there, but maybe the presence of the pigeons is another factor? (I did have to look it up to remind myself!)

A good observation on Walters. He was brilliant & we all loved him at the time, but I’d agree that some players seem to get better kudos for lesser contributions. On his day he was unplayable & he absolutely tormented the Tims many a time, particularly at Ibrox.

I didn’t vote this time; I didn’t have the time to dedicate to the mission and knew, like Dave, that I’d forget about a screamer. I have history there with forgetting about the 1987 skol cup final v Aberdeen in my greatest games vote- and I was bloody well there 😬🙄😅 What does make this show though is the emotion that is evoked by listening to the commentary & not seeing so you have to remember it & there are so many that make the hair on your neck stand up! Still find the experience of listening and not seeing makes you realise how long the rammy lasts after a goal, huge decibel levels right through the commentator summarising the goal; evocative, spine-tingling and just awesome!

Tav vs. Dortmund might be my favourite Rangers goal just for how I felt in the moment & how I feel when I rewatch it. Goosebumps
